2008-2009 Opening day Line-up/Blazers Match-up

Postby Indianballer on Tue Jul 22, 2008 11:35 pm

Hate to be a pessimist but I was looking at Blazers line-up next year and its a little scary.

Blazers Line-Up

Bayless/Blake/Rodriguez
Roy/Rudy Fernandez
Outlaw/Webster/Batum
Aldridge/Frye/Diogu
Oden/Przyibilla

Holy Crap that is an amazing line-up, the Lakers bench doesn't come anywhere near there bench. They have ridiculous depth everywhere and I was wondering how competitive the Lakers current line-up is compared to theirs?

Second question Predict the line-up for 2008-2009 season I am curious who we add to the bench if anyone at all?

I agree, but they are too young to be anything close to a contender. IMO the next 3-5 Years will be remembered as Kobe's years (3 titles, 1 more MVP, 2 Finals MVP, DPOY, Olympic Gold, etc).

However, Portland is the next great dynasty. Oden/Aldridge is a scary frontline and Roy/Bayless is a perfect backcourt because of the way their game's compliment each other.

At the 3 they have Outlaw for D, and Webster for O.

As if that is not enough, they have a terrific bench and will only get better.

IMO, the next few years will set up for what will become a huge Laker-Blazer rivalry for the next decade plus...Bynum vs Oden.

they are a team of complete unknowns

only thing we know is at 25 years old brandon roy is pretty much what he is a very good player but not a superstar

from greg oden to bayless all complete unknowns

aldridge is as soft as gasol he shys away from contact

they have too many unknowns to be considered anything right now

maybe in 2010 we will know what they are

right now and next season they are a 7 and 8 seed

i refuse to crown them till i see oden and bayless play a second in the NBA

same goes for fernandez and all their other "super" talented players
everyone has their top 10 lists of women heres mine

10. Olivia Wilde

Yeah I have to agree. I think Oden might be a little overrated but I'm not sure about 7-8 seed. I'm thinking they are at best 4 seed at worst 7 seed. I mean adding Oden, Fernandez, Bayless has to count for at least 10-15 wins? TO me they really resemble the showtime lakers. I mean everyone in their line-up is like a top 10 pick.

I wanna hear some starting line-ups here's my prediction

Fisher/Farmar
Kobe/Sasha/Karl
Odom/Ariza/Walton
Gasol/Radman
Bynum/Kwame/Mihm

Sign Kwame and Sasha and send Crawford to D-league. SImple and highly likely

Fisher/ Farmar
Bryant/ Vujacic
Ariza /Odom (like Ginobli)/ Walton
Gasol/ Rad.
Bynum/ Mbenga/Mihm

resign sasha which i thought we already did?
and mbenga, he has pretty limited talent and potential, but hes got good size and wont cost much at all. plus he brings some heart with him which is a huge boost

By moving Lamar to the sixth man you get a pretty friggin good second team thats pretty quick and can run quite a bit. i like the way they look although we can do with a good signing at PF/C area or a PG/SG (haha wow thats pretty obvious huh?)

I'm all for odom off the bench He could play minutes at the PF and SF it would be like 30 mins a game but he would boost the bench with the loss of Ronny. Man if we can get our hands on Pargo that would be nice. I'm all about Kwame he's cheap, effective, and might have something to prove on his return trip to LA.

if im going to be honest i hate kwame brown and i would hate seeing him back in our jerseys, plus he could bring back some big baggage...
but i do understand your point in signing him because we need the size and experience... :bang:

this may make me seem like an idiot for not knowing but i have no idea what salary protection is. it seems to me that Dallas needs to get rid of Bass though... but i could be way way off. if i am im sorry im still gettin the hang of all of the financial workings and language.
BUT if Bass is available i think we should go after him, we need a PF back up that can free up minutes for Gasol to play Center if Drew cant handle the time minutes as a starter

and i get the feeling Pargo is going to be wanting a lot of time and money and i think that will take away from Farmar, who i really believe has the ability to be our starter in the next few years after Fisher goes. if we get Pargo, Farmar will lose valuable minutes he needs to develop. but i DO think we need another PG/ SG... i think Lue would have been better but im not totally against Claxton either, he may be old but he comes cheap and hes a vet that can give us help with leadership and experience for the younger players

what do you think?

I'm not terribly concerned with them for next year, considering they're young and two of those guys haven't even played in the NBA.
Predictions: better D than last season, deeper run than last season, better team than last season

wait why does Dallas need to get rid of Bass?

If they do that would be the perfect player for the Lakers, Bass can play both forward positions and is the toughest guy in the NBA perfect guy to come off the bench behind Lamar and Gasol.

That is a great line up. Portland is gonna be crazy soon. I could see them being a 7th -8th seed that you do not want to meet in the playoffs. B/C youngsters dont know any better, they just play and they could easily upset a 1st seed.

they certainly are a very deep team.

problem is, they only have good players, no great players.
they also only have really young players.

Blake vs Fisher
Roy vs Kobe
Outlaw vs Odom
Aldridge vs Gasol
Oden vs Bynum
Webster vs Ariza
Bayless vs Farmar
Fernandez vs Sasha

we match up decently with most of their players.

but then, we have no bench players to match Frye and Przybilla.
Unless Mihm can REALLY get back in shape.

by the time the blazers are called "contenders", their key player contracts will be up. if those players are good by then, then they gonna want more money.

Yeah I was thinking that once ROy and Aldrige need new contracts then they're in trouble. Because everyone on the Blazers is going to want a good contract.

With the rumor that Landry could go to Europe I say we make an attempt at this guy. I bet he would rather play for the Lakers than for some team in Europe.

Ideal Line-Up

Fisher/Farmar
Kobe/Sasha
Odom/Ariza/Walton
Pau /Landry/Radman
Bynum/Mihm/Mbenga

I like the depth and flexibilty on the line-up and give us options in the future. Give Sasha like a 4 year 17 million dollar contract like Ronny's cause thats what he's worth and then landry a 3 year 10 million dollar contract. Both are solid and reasonable contracts that Lakers will have to pay.
