A Sigh of Relief and a Glimmer of Hope

Wouldn’t it be nice for the season to just begin already. Myself along with Laker fans alike have dealt with more drama this off season then Britney Spears is dealing with Mr. Popo Zao. For the love of Eminem’s career, will the purple and gold athlete’s please stand up!

I guess you could link it to frustration, or maybe the fact that people are steady fast in quitting on a team they have only been able to analyze on paper, unless you consider two meaningless pre-season games something to boast about. For myself, the minority around Laker lure, it isn’t the negativity that bothers me as much as the fans who refuse to give this team any glimmer of hope. The sky is still blue, the jersey still says #24, and Andrew Bynum is still in the picture. DEAL WITH IT!

Whether you’re a Kobe aficionado, an Andrew Bynum believer, or simply a Sasha Vujacic fan (I feel sorry for you), we all have one thing in common, we are the ultimate Laker fans. Just saying you bleed purple and gold isn’t enough. We breathe purple and gold air. We should be driving purple and gold cars. Our clothes should always be a matching purple shirt and gold pants. Your partner should greet you in the morning with a nice cup of purple tea and some gold waffles. Well, you get the picture. People will debate their stance for hours on end in sixteen page threads to prove their point, that to me is dedication.

So why not dedicate ourselves to this once proud franchise that prides itself in making the fans smile, excited, ecstatic, happy, and satisfied all rolled up into one. Why give up on the franchise now, when there is still a glimmer of hope, still a glimpse into the future, young prospects with all the talent in the world, and 2 hall of famers in search of the ultimate goal, to prove the world that they can do it.

If they have faith, then so do I. When it seems like there is no faith left, it’s up to the fans to rejuvinate the optimism and rally around supporting our troops. I’m the General leading the way, now whose coming with me?
