A Whole Lot of . . . Nothing.![]() As the hype of Phil Jackson’s ABC interview built up, Laker fans awaited the possible announcement of a possible re-uniting between two long-lost lovers. As it turned out, Jackson said a whole lot of . . . nothing. But he would include some critical information regarding what to expect sooner or later. Jackson did not confirm or deny accepting the position of the Lakers head coach. However, the 9-time champion coach hinted at possibly making a decision on his coaching future within a short time. In fact, this announcement could come as early as “another day or two.” One of the key factors in Jackson’s decision will be the ability to make roster changes that could supply the team with enough talent to make it back to the promised land. Jackson admitted that flexibility in personnel decisions will be vital in the outcome of his deliberation. Jackson revealed that he has committed to considering the Lakers’ position first before beginning serious talks with his other suitors. However, Jackson is not the only name that has been mentioned as of late. Former Laker point guard Brian Shaw’s name has surfaced in this wild offseason coaching chase, and various unconfirmed reports hint that Laker guard Kobe Bryant has favored him in this process. Rumors have circulated of Bryant meeting with owner Jerry Buss in Italy and discussing the coaching future of the team. There are conflicting sources on this matter. Some say that Bryant is in favor of bringing his former coach back on the sideline and would be willing to work out any personal differences that still lie between them. On the other hand, other sources report that he has been adamantly against a reunion with the same man who wrote a tell-all book on the team last summer and openly criticized him in the media. At the same time, no one is truly certain of Jackson’s feelings on Bryant either. Ultimately, if Phil is willing, the decision will come down to Jerry Buss. When will the speculation be ended? Stay tuned. Is Phil the right coach for this team? What is your opinion on Brian Shaw? Were you disappointed by the interview? Sound off on the CL.com Forums!
