bhatta: Farmar Plays The Right WayClubLakers analyst bhatta gives us the latest dish on Jordan Farmar on Hoopsworld.com: A commonly held belief amongst basketball purists is that the young’ns don’t respect the game. They say that the new guard doesn’t take the game seriously, hot-dogging and show-boating being a far cry from the beautifully crafted team game devised by James Naismith long ago. They say that the next generation lacks the necessary true admiration for the game’s legends. Well, if all that is truly the case, Jordan Farmar must be an exception to this newly developed norm. “We have the legends around us, guys like Willis Reed and guys of that stature,” Farmar told HOOPSWORLD at the NBA’s annual All-Star festivities earlier this month. “It’s important to treat the game with respect and play the game the right way.” Displaying a maturity beyond his years, Farmar is much more than just words when it comes to playing the game the right way. His steady performance off the bench has earned the trust of Lakers head coach Phil Jackson, who notoriously lacks trust for his younger players. Jackson has shown much more flexibility in that regard over the past few seasons, willing to play Ronny Turiaf, Andrew Bynum, and Farmar for extended minutes, because their collective production simply is too much for Jackson to hold back.
