He's someone that's going to attract people, myself included. He's got all the tools to be a star and he's capable of making an immediate impact next season. If you know Davis, you know he wasn't going to pass up on Darren.

I'd be surprised if McFadden is anything more than a solid RB. That said, Oakland's run game looks very efficient. A guy like McFadden could put up a string of 1200-1300 yard seasons if he's healthy.

McFadden
Fargas
Rhodes
Bush

That's a really nice group of guys. I think, unfortunately, Rhodes is gone. I thought Rhodes was the best of the bunch, but you don't sign Fargas to that kind of contract to trade him and you probably can't get much for Bush. Rhodes could get a future pick or a guy who can contribute somewhere.

I was hoping to trade rhodes for a day one pick. didn't happen.

Yeah, I can't imagine anyone would give up a first day pick for him.

Just wanted to post some numbers on Oakland's rushing game. Top back by season::

03 Garner 120-553-3 & 48-386-1 (949 total yards); team rushed for 113.9 yards per game (16th)
04 Zereoue: 112-425-3 & 39-294 (719 total yards); team rushed for 80.9 yards per game (32nd)
05 Jordan: 272-1025-9 & 70-563-2 (1588 total yards); team rushed for 85.6 yards per game (29th)
06 Fargas: 178-659-1 & 13-91 (750 total yards); team rushed for 94.9 yards per game (29th)
07 Fargas: 222-1009-4 & 23-188 (1197 total yards); team rushed for 130.4 yards per game (6th)

So this is the first time the Raiders have had both a 1000 yard rusher AND an effective attack overall. The running game is absolutely set. The defensive secondary is going to be amazing. It's time to work on the D-line and the passing game.

I can't decide on which RB to give up. I say Fargas.

It's easy... cut Jordan and trade Rhodes.

McFadden, Bush, and Fargas... might be the best backfield in the league.

2 of them have never played in the league, Fargas is alright. The best in the league is probably the Vikings or the Jags. The Raiders definitely have potential to have the best backfield.

The Raiders were 6th in the league in rushing last year, and still got the most explosive runningback in the draft. Should take some pressure of Russell.

Bush and DMF are going to be good players.

Fargas is good when he's healthy... Yeah, the Raiders were 6th in the league with a bad offensive line and horrible QB. Just images what the Raiders could do with a good O-line and decent QB.

I was very disappointed in the Raiders in this draft.

The main reason is they had no picks 2 and 3. For the ridiclous amount of RBs they have..

drafted McFadden

then still have Bush, Fargas, Rhodes, and Jordan

At least two of them could have gotten the raiders more picks easily.

They still had a good first day draft...

Al Davis is going to surround JaMarcus with play makers... the Raiders made the right choice.

Why would the Raiders trade Fargas when they just resign him? The Raiders love Bush...

Why would a team trade for Jordan when the Raiders are going to cut him? No team was going to give up a first day pick for Jordan or Rhodes.

And when are we going to get a better line? We made no improvements this offseason. We signed Kwame Harris from the Niners, who absolutely sucks. Gallery's a bust. Besides Cooper Carlisle, everyone on that line can't block worth anything.

Jamarcus and McFadden are going to get knocked around big time next season.

Gallery is pretty good when you're not asking him to play Left Tackle.

Fargas, Rhodes, and Jordan are not premier backs IMO…D-Mac has the potential to be..so does Bush…with the current trend of dual backs working for a lot of teams, I like the upside of a D-Mac/Bush 1-2 easing the load off young Jamarcus

Well, I don't know where he's going to play :)

He'll probably be our kick returner, but that's not worth a high draft pick. The word on Branch is that he can't cover man to man, but because he's so strong, he might become a Safety. I'd say he's a work in progress who will have to show a lot of improvement if he's ever going to be more than a marginal starter/nickel/dime guy. Now given the dudes Oakland has in their defensive backfield, he has every opportunity to learn solid fundamentals...and he might be a better athlete than any other DB Oakland has. So good reason to be optimistic, but don't expect anything defensively soon.

Rhodes released by Raiders

I know we took a million dollar cap hit because of the draft trade...

Jordan better get cut on June 1st... he's making almost 5 million. We need to restructure some contracts and cut some players.... McFadden better not hold out or tr is going to hate him. man10 McFadden is our starter for next season. jam2

I thought Lamont would get axed before Rhodes

Wonder how Rhodes feels. Took a pay cut to play here and then gets cut after one year.

Kind of sends a bad message to other free agents.

Raiders sign former Ravens phenom

Quote:
The Raiders signed veteran middle linebacker Edgerton Hartwell on Thursday, a league source confirmed, in a move designed to bolster their run defense.

Good signing if he can stay healthy...
tr, are the Raiders planning on running the 3-4 defense in the future?

Hartwell was awesome with the Ravens. Too bad he's not anywhere near the level he was after being ravaged by injuries.

Not expecting much from him. He may not even make the team.

Branch may not play a down on D. Don't get your hopes up on him.

I'm actually looking at him as a returner because of the success he had in college and due to the fact that we downgraded in that department. Stud? A bit over the top, but I think he'll be solid.

He could be a stud in the return game with his speed and moves, but I'm thinking of our crowded defensive backfield and the word on him was that he is either too small for Safety or loses too much time turning his body to be a cover corner.

Branch will definitely get playing time on special teams. He might even get playing time on defense when the Raiders play some special packages or if Asomugha/Hall get injured during the season.

I got some info... The Raiders might sign Koren Robinson soon. He would be a nice fit with the Raiders. Al Davis might sign him to keep him away from the Chiefs.

What do you guys think about this move? Should we go after him or let the young guys play this season? I know tr loves Higgins.
Al Davis better not give him 55 million.

Raiders sign Greg Spires

Quote:
The Raiders agreed to terms with free-agent defensive end Greg Spires, an NFL source said Saturday.

He's a 10-year veteran who started five of the past six seasons with the Buccaneers, including their Super Bowl XXXVII victory over the Raiders in 2002.
