The Birmingham News: University of Alabama point guard Ronald Steele has decided to become an early entrant in the NBA Draft, his father, Ronald Sr., told The Birmingham News today.
If NBA officials project him as a first-round draft choice, he'll turn pro. If he's not projected as a first-round pick, he'll return to Alabama for his senior season.
Steele will join Alabama teammate Richard Hendrix, a junior forward, in submitting his name early for the NBA draft.
The younger Steele sat out this season as a medical redshirt after struggling through his junior season in 2007 with injury problems and undergoing multiple knee surgeries. As a sophomore in 2006, the John Carroll Catholic High product was a first-team All-SEC selection and honorable mention AP All-American.
His father said today that Steele completed his undergraduate degree in December. His father also said that Steele now is ''100 percent physically" and ''is in the best shape that he's ever been in." |
