It's hard for me not to pick him, but it was a hard choice for me to decide. But I'll go with...

Klewfish takes the Big O (60s)
One of the best PG's ever and gets one of my requirements for a 60's player is fulfilled. Not the BAP, but someone who fits my idea for a team. _________________ GoalLineBlitz (Manute Bol- LB) http://goallineblitz.com/game/signup.pl?ref=298765

Soy's team would like - no, love - to select the Captain, Kareem Abdul Jabbar.

Nice Pick Soy. But which Era? The 70's with the Bucks or the 80's with the Lakers? _________________

After going back and forth between two of the game's best big men, I finally decided on one. He goes by the name if Bill Russell and I designate the 60's as his decade.

Well, if I have to pick now then, I'll take 70s Cap - 6 MVPs in one decade can't be wrong.

Nice pick, I was deciding between The Big Fundamental and The Big "O". Obviously I decided on the latter. _________________ GoalLineBlitz (Manute Bol- LB) http://goallineblitz.com/game/signup.pl?ref=298765

Reminder.
Picking the decade has nothing to do with their performance, it's only a matter of spreading out the talent pool. _________________

Great pick. Very underrated defender, and his offensive game needs no intro.
BTW, nice Shaq pick L4L. I thought about it hard; it was between him, Hakeem, and Jordan. I had to go with the Dream. Shaq in his prime was DOMINANT, but so wasn't Hakeem. Defensively, it's no contest; the Dream is easily top-10 all time. _________________

I probably would have taken Bird if Malone wasn't available.
The player I wanted though was Olajuwon.
Damn you KB8

I come from the Old School line of thinking that preaches inside-out basketball. Knowing that I was going to need an answer for Wilt, Hakeem, Russell, etc. I had to go with the Big Fella.
I love the Dream's skill set because he was so very skilled. He was the most crafty post player that I've ever seen.
Not to reveal my plan or anything , but I plan to surround Shaq with great shooters, perimeter defenders, and another big man who is willing to show on the pick and roll.
I figure that no one, maybe outside of Wilt, is capable of physically withstanding the Shaq Attack. Eventually, they will have to double, and that's where I hope to have my shooters come into play. |

When I talk b-ball with my friends (who think D-Wade is dirty, Nash is the best PG of all time, etc), I always bring up the Dream in G.O.A.T. at the center position conversations. They call me crazy. _________________

Hakeem could slow Shaq down. D-Rob did it at the last legs of his career. _________________

^ Not kidding man. I live in Mass, and a few weeks ago I got into an argument with a buddy of mine that claimed Ray Allen was a good defender. I told him after that I could never talk basketball with him again and he ripped me for saying that. What a world we live in. _________________

You need some new friends
Some guy the other day told me Andrew Bogut was the best center in the NBA. I'm guessing only because he's Australian. _________________

Hakeem dominated Young Shaq, but I doubt he could keep up after Shaq bulked up.
I guess D-Rob did a pretty good job in 2001-2002, but I thought Shaq was dominant in the rest of their playoff matchups. I suppose that's for the judges to decide. |

Not saying Shaq couldn't get the best of the Dream, but Hakeem could hold his own. Easily.
D-Rob did pretty good against a prime Shaq even when he was in his last days. Shaq had a hard time with certain players (Hakeem, D-Rob, Divac). _________________

I honestly do not think Hakeem would be able to keep up with the bulked up Shaq by himself. We'll have to agree to disagree because I've never saw anyone get the best of prime Shaq consistently. Hakeem abused the younger version of Shaq, but as the years rolled by that torch was quickly passed.

That's why we have judges my man.
Honestly, I'm angry we couldn't get more GM's. Who's to say "this" player couldn't take 'that" player on a certain day? These teams are all going to be incredibly elite. _________________

| That's the thing, with players THIS ELITE, you know that any of them could win on any given day. No one could consistently stop Hakeem in the post. No one. He was too talented. However, what if it's one of those days? What if Shaq goes on one of his fouling sprees, and decides, "I want to foul unto others as they foul unto me." Who is to say Jordan wouldn't drop 60 that day? |

Exactly.
But still, this is a fun game where people can learn more about the history of the game. You have to assemble a TEAM, not just collective talent. Players like Rip Hamilton mean nothing in the grand scheme of the league, but if he's a good fit, why not? Be creative as possible. _________________
