ClubLakers 2007 All-Era NBA Draft
Rules and Regulations
1.) There will be 14 teams. Team names will be user names to avoid confusion. PM me if you’re interested in joining. I’ll do my best to choose managers based on who was first, but also on your post history, if you’re done GM League’s before, and so on. Only those who will be fully engaged will be allowed.
2.) The draft order will be randomized. I’ll do this myself. You’ll have to trust me. The first pick in the 1st round will get the last pick in the second. It’s much like a fantasy draft. Picks will be made in order and posted in this thread. NO GOING OUT OF TURN. You also MUST make your pick within 12 hours of the previous pick. If you fail to make your pick, it will go to the next person, and the next, and so on. Whenever you decide to grace us with your presence again, you can make your pick at any time.
3.) There are going to be 10 players per roster. You need two of each position.
4.) You MUST take two players from each era (60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, 00’s). For a player to qualify, they only need to have suited up one game in that decade. Be creative. One player is one player. The decade you choose has NOTHING to do with their performance. Jordan played in 2000's, so you can pick him there and he's still considered a prime Jordan.
5.) Each roster must have two players that are not CURRENTLY in the Hall of Fame. This leaves the possibilities for modern players like Jason Kidd and Shaquille O’Neal to be prime picks for the current era.
6.) There is no money value, contracts, or anything of that nature.
7.) At the end of the challenge I will allow each team to make one trade. No uneven trades - you still need to have a 10 man roster. Era has no meaning in trades, feel free to trade any one.
8.) When the draft ends, all fourteen teams will need to complete a write-up. 1000 word limit, 250 minimum. Choose your words wisely. The judges will then narrow it down to the Elite 8 where match-ups will occur (1-8, 2-7, 3-6, 4-5) based on the judge’s rulings. Those teams in the match-ups will then do another write-up, with the same word count, on why their team is better. From there, winning teams will face off against each other until there is a winner.
Judges
1.) Mr. Smoovemoves
2.) Kingsama
3.) Jamas _________________ Think you know the NBA? Try the newest CL challenge!

I'd be interested - don't post here often but have participated in two ATLs.

Questions and Answers
Here are some questions that were asked, hopefully this clears things up:
Quote:
Will the draft have a new random draw for every odd round and flip it or keep snaking?
The person with the first pick in the first round will get the last pick in the second, the first in the third, and so on. Just like a fantasy draft. The order picked remains the same.
Quote:
Can I switch a player's era?
No.
I'm not going to allow a decade change when you draft. That's part of the puzzle initially, and I have said before that you need to post the era with the player you pick. _________________ Think you know the NBA? Try the newest CL challenge!

Still have many spots open. Come on people, this isn't a big commitment. You just need to check the thread in time for your draft pick. Once every 1-2 days is enough.
Those who've already signed up are free to invite others. _________________ Think you know the NBA? Try the newest CL challenge!

Even though I requested to be a judge this time, ( I didn't want to destroy my competition like last year, ) this game/contest is off the chain. It was by far the best thread I was ever a part of, seriously. I hope many of you who think you have b-ball knowledge, like fantasy leagues, and have great basketball imagination would/could participate. You'll enjoy. Its THAT fun. _________________

I'm almost in shock that I can't get 16 people for this. Thanks for the promotion though. _________________ Think you know the NBA? Try the newest CL challenge!

Ayo,
if cats don't want to get involved, cool. Let the 10th person join and cut it off from there, I guess. Give them 3 full days of NBA discussion time considering this was in the Royal Room 1st. Maybe Guru will return too. Who knows? 72 hours though. The people who joined are the people who benefit. For those that dont, don't. Its going to be a dope thread with or without a full 16-20. We rather have that but, it is what it is. _________________

But 10 team? Every one would almost be too stacked. Who's to say a frontline of these two could beat those two on any given night? I'm going to give it 1-2 more days. I'm doing some serious recruiting, but people keep saying they might not have the time. It will only take 1-2 minutes a day. If that. _________________ Think you know the NBA? Update:
We currently have 12 people. If this number doesn't grow by tomorrow at this same time, I'm cutting it off.
However, we still need one more judge before we start. What I need from everyone else to find 5 more people total (4 GM's, 1 Judge). I've been PMing EVERYONE and so far, nothing. _________________ Think you know the NBA? Try the newest CL challenge!

With the first pick I'll take Wilt and designate him in the sixties. Do I need to pick the specific year for stats?

No, players are assumed to be in their prime no matter what. But thank you for saying the decade when you drafted. I failed to mention that before. _________________ Think you know the NBA? Try the newest CL challenge!

One of the best defenders of all time. A dominant rebounder. One of the most creative players to ever play the game. A deadly passer. He makes everyone around him better. I start a franchise with a player like that. _________________ Think you know the NBA? Try the newest CL challenge!
