I think this trade with Boston and Mavs, made it even more of a star studded opening night.

I really can't wait now.

Look at these matchups(if the line-up is correct)

Shaq------------Dirk
Karl -------------Walker
Dev ------------Jamison
Kobe------------Finley
GP---------------Nash

I still the say once the Lakers start playing together, they will still be the best team in the league. And I don't know if Dirk can handle playing as a center.

I think some of the Mavs may bump heads this year, just like Minny will.

I still think Lakers are better!

So far the Lakers have sucked big time. All the talks about going 82-0 or 73-9 and ..... the way they're playing they're lucky if they won 55. I know Shaq and Kobe haven't played, but what I don't understand is why Payton and Malone haven't shown much leadership on the floor.

This is shobe. Like I said I"m really worried now. I hope the lakers can still win the championship. Because the mavs just got a whole lot better with that trade. The only good thing for us, is that the mavs can't play D.

Let's look at the matchups:

Shaq------------Dirk...........Shaq will eat up Dirk in the post
Karl -------------Walker......Walker is too fat to keep up with Malone
Dev ------------Jamison......Ok, advantage Mavs here.
Kobe------------Finley.........KB is better, no explanation needed.
GP---------------Nash..........Payton should give Nash a hard time.

Let's see they acquired Antoine Walker and Tony Delk. A small forward and a point guard for essentially LaFrentz a forward/center (since Mills and the 3rd man in the trade never played any signifcant role on the team).

They didn't trade for the size in the front court they desperately need, they didn't trade for any defensive stopper, they didn't trade for any veteran leader to inspire the team when they stumble in May, they didn't get any player that is a pass first player.

This trade is unnecessary and possibly very damaging for the Mavs. They not only didn't address any of their obvious needs, they actually created more problems for themselves by adding two guys that need the ball to be effective. That now gives them Jamison, Finley, Nowitzki, Walker and Delk - all players that can't play a lick of defense, can't rebound, and can't operate effectively unless the ball is in their hands for 3/4 of the time while they're on the court. Who is going to stop Malone, who stops Shaq, who stops Duncan, Garnett, Kobe, Sprewell - nobody! They were horrible defensively before, they've now gotten even weaker.

Don't be worried about this trade, be happy.

the mavs did however get walker with one year on his conract left, and gave lafrentz with 5? more years left...they got rid of alot of money and got a good player...i dunt realy care about the rest of the players cuz they prety much cancel each other out...

DALLAS IS NUTS MAKING THIS TRADE!!! NOW THEY HAVE 6 GUYS THAT WANT TO SHOOT AND NOT PLAY DEFENSE. THEY WANT TO TRY TO OUTSCORE EVERYBODY 125-115 LIKE THE '80'S. DIRK'S GONNA PLAY CENTER? WOW, HE'S GONNA GET PUSHED AROUND LIKE GROUPIE'S IN COLORADO (JUST KIDDING) THERE'S A REASON BOSTON'S BEEN TRYING TO TRADE WALKER FOR 3 YEARS. CUBAN'S FUNNY, HE THINKS HE CAN OUTSCORE PEOPLE. DEFENSE WINS RINGS BRO, THAT'S WHY THE LAKES DIDN'T WIN LAST YEAR. THEY STOPPED PLAYING IT.

very good article...

Walker may be overrated but team leadership is key...now Paul Pierce will hafta carry a Tracy Mcgrady type load....maybe this will make Pierce emerge as an MVP style player...
