Round 8

1. Samuel Dalembert Slimjim@CL
2. Danny Granger crank dat ra...
3. Stephon Marbury Luke LG
4. Richard Jefferson Critical Bea...
5. Mo Williams CL Mojo
6. Chris Kaman CritterofCL
7. Ben Gordon PhilofLG
8. Ricky Davis Caron1 LG
9. Tayshaun Prince CL Porklips
10. Andrea Bargnani Michlake(LG)

This was a surprisingly good round. All solid picks. No duds. Bargnani was a slightly risky pick, but his upside is too good to ingnore. If Toronto ever plays him over 30 minutes a game, an upside of 15 pts, 6 reb, 2 threes, a steal and block aren't out of the question. Those are (potentially) sick numbers from an 8th round player.

My pick - Mo Williams. I consider Mo as part of the 2nd tier of PG's, after the big name guys like Arenas/Kidd/Paul/Nash/etc. How does 17 pts, 6 ast, 5 reb with a steal and 3 sound? That's the kind of production that you were hoping for with guys taken up to 3 rounds earlier. I didn't need the extra PG, but couldn't pass up value. Assists are always easy to trade as well.

Notable - This was an interesting draft in that Blocks lasted very late. This is extra surprising considering this is a 2 center league. Block machines such as Dalembert, Kaman, Big Ben and Biedrins were all still on the board at this point. Slim and Critter did a good job of snagging 2 of them in this round.

Round 9

1. Brad Miller Michlake(LG)
2. Andrew Bynum CL Porklips
3. Ben Wallace Caron1 LG
4. Andris Biedrins PhilofLG
5. Peja Stojakovic CritterofCL
6. Stephen Jackson CL Mojo
7. Richard Hamilton Critical Bea...
8. Elton Brand Luke LG
9. Al Harrington crank dat ra...
10. Josh Childress Slimjim@CL

Uggghhhh... 2 picks really stand out in this round, and they both belong to LG. mad1 Brad Miller and Ben Wallace in the 9th round are absolute steals. It's true that both are long way away from their glory years of the early 2000's, but both are solid contributers and are quality centers.

My pick - Stephen Jackson. I was looking at several players here. I was happy with my team so far and felt that I had already covered all the categories. I wanted to shore up steals and I was really hoping Big Ben would drop to me here. Stephen Jackson wasn't a bad consolation prize though. He's a captain, is guaranteed minutes and I'm expecting something around 17/5/3 with 1.5 steals and 3's. His big turnoff is his high TO's from a SG. I may regret not taking Raja Bell here, but I felt Jackson was the more well rounded player and again, I was looking for steals.

Notables - Peja!!!! Critter snagged Peja with the 5th pick of this round. He was in need of 3's and if Peja is healthy this year, he should be focal point of that offense and rain 3's. Low risk, HUGE reward pick.

Elton Brand was the other interesting pick. Who knows when he'll come back. Will it be too late to help Luke from LG's team at that point? Considering that you have 10 scoring spots in this league, I personally think it's too early to draft a guy you know will be sitting on your bench for at least 2/3 of the season.

I'd like to see this. Mods can sticky the league thread and keeps us CL'ers updated as to the progress of the league.

I am sure LG can round up 5 fantasy B-Ball players to compete for bragging rights.

Just a thought.

KB24.com should get involved in this somehow. mhihi

I think we could surprise some people.

Hey guys, this is Michlake from LG.

Thanks to Mojo for the draft recaps. Very good reads.

I came to enemy soil to see if anyone was interested in putting $20 in for a side bet. We wouldn't need every manager to have a nice size pot, but 5 or 6 teams would be nice.

I think if money is involved it makes people try even harder to improve their teams and stay active. The team that finished the highest from the teams that put in money would get the pot. So even if you didn't finish first you could still win some money. People could send the money to me through paypal to keep it simple.

I will also put a post on the league messageboard.

~6.0 rpg, ~3.5 apg, ~1.2 3ptm, ~16.5 points, ~1.1 steals, ~.8 blocks, 49% fg%, 81% ft%.

that was the average ROTO numbers for last years winning squads on yahoo.

compare it with your team... assess and do your magic.

These are the 5 CL teams:

FG% FT% 3PTM PTS REB AST ST BLK TO
0.54 0.85 1.18 19.22 7.87 4.28 1.10 0.93 2.47

0.52 0.90 1.40 19.02 6.62 3.70 1.03 0.90 2.37

0.53 0.84 0.99 17.54 6.32 4.21 1.06 0.68 2.51

0.55 0.84 0.69 18.34 7.67 4.47 0.94 0.89 2.66

0.52 0.86 0.67 17.01 6.89 4.62 1.24 0.53 2.50

Of course, the %'s are wrong, since it was a simple average and not weighted.

These numbers were based on last years stats as well, so sleepers or guys expected to blow up (Aldridge, Big Al, Durant, etc) aren't represented correctly, but it still gives you an idea.

I'm liking one of these teams!!! man1

I also didn't include the LG teams - I thought that would have been mean to rub it in.... man10 man10

And......

It's funny how all 5 teams have numbers good enough to have won an average Yahoo league last year.

Shows you how competitive this league will be! jam2

Someone please refresh me on the rules, since I can't seem to find a help area that explains it on Yahoo, do we alter our lineups everyday or once a week?

I'm used to playing at Sportsline where we do lineup changes each Monday, but the "Weekly Deadline" setting seems to suggest one thing (weekly), but the actual value of that setting is "Daily - Tomorrow", so that suggests another thing (daily).

I'm assuming it's daily switches at this point.

create your starting lineup, and do not change it, unless someone gets injuried.

you have 82 games at every position, it's not like H2H.

bench players in roto = backup in case of injury, not complementary players like in H2H.

you are allowed to do whatever you want with your roster actually... but if you do daily changes to get maximum games... you will burn out all your games a month before the season ends. and common sense says...you want your games played to be starter players... not bench players.

I'm sure it will change during the season somewhat too based upon the categories (i.e. need some more blocks, treys, etc.).

Nice pick of Pryz Mojo. I was thinking of dropping Frye for him, but I think Frye will get more burn during games. Great source of boards and blocks. He might even get up to 2.5 or 3 blocks a game with 30 minutes. Not too shabby.

When I found out he was starting, I couldn't pass him up.

I hated dropping Gooden, who I think will have a good year without Varejao pushing him for minutes, but blocks are at a higher premium.

Picked up Eddy Curry off waivers...a little stunned right now at my good fortune, especially since Krstic is only about 70% and inconsistent thus far.
