That was quick, thanks. I think it's one of the coolest ever, but unfortunately you can't call it the best dunk ever when he didn't really even dunk it. _________________ Weezy's Weemens

Who has ever "thrown" the ball downward with force towards the rim?
He flew like Superman and brought a new meaning to "throw it down." _________________ LD2k.com | hZmDesigns.com

Oh I absolutely loved the dunk, I jumped outta my seat. I'm just saying it's unfortunate that he didn't technically dunk it and some will point that out. _________________ Weezy's Weemens

| The only downside to it is that he didn't dunk the ball. I think it will go down as one of the most creative attempts though. |

i think its still a dunk .
He threw it down , if thats what defines a dunk then it was one
(it certainly wasn't a lay-up)
but if dunking requires touching the rim then it wasn't
regardless of what it was its still awesome |

WORST DUNK CONTEST EVER!
Are you kidding me?
Dwight Howard doing a "Superman" dunk.
Then his final dunk was with a little 6-year old hoop.
Gerald Green putting a birthday cake.
Then Magic every year says "The dunk contest is back"
Is Magic trying to say this was better than 1984, 1986, or 2000.
Kenny Smith was right.
The NBA or should I call NBE (National Basketball Entertainment)
Was where "Are you kidding me?" Happens. _________________

I think that was the point though. He was up so high he throw it DOWN towards the basket. Who does that? _________________

yeah that was my point too, i guess there really is no definition for it other than a "throw down", its very unique and deserved a win dunk or not. |

I think that, getting lost in all the awe over the dunk/throw-down, is the pass by Nelson... I mean, from that distance behind the baseline and thrown with such perfection (perfect catch too), man... crazy! _________________ "I've learned that I have the strength to change."

Agreed.
Also, anyone have vid of Dwight's other 2 off the backboard dunks? Those dunks were just as good, if not better. _________________

I also agree, that was a perfect pass. And I had completely forgotten about off the backboard to himself in mid air dunk, that was crazy too. _________________ Weezy's Weemens

It's too bad Moon didnt' advance to the 2nd round:
I was disappointed Jamario Moon kept one of his better dunks in his pocket. I had heard that he had wanted to try "The Goat" named after the New York City playground legend who could dunk a ball, catch it and dunk it again. Moon supposedly had that one ready for the second round. _________________

Then I can officially dunk a basketball, pretty overrated dunk contest, and this dunk was O.K. but the fact that he didnt purely dunk the ball, makes this dunk just a good one. I was disappointed, I guess the only great dunk was Dwight's first. _________________ Do you like music?

what was great about his performance was the order of dunks
1st round : two complicated dunks
2nd round: two hyped up creative dunks
competitors should follow this from now on, its a good idea |

if you can throw in a downward motion from above the rim then yes you can dunk
and also i believe it was just right to go with the superman concept if you think about it .
Superman is so strong that he would break the rim, and he can fly so he just throws the ball downward
it created a more dramatic effect and worked great

It's completely different in your case. In yours, you're throwing the ball UP towards the basket (like a layup). Dwight got up so high (and from far I might add), that he threw the ball DOWN towards the basket. _________________

| I don't think the definition of a dunk includes "touching the rim with your hand". He was high up and he threw it down (literally). It wasn't a lay-up. I consider it a dunk, and a great one at that. |

You guys are right ^ however, he didn't make it to the basket, so his jump should have been shorter, it was incredible timing, luck and precision that he made it to the basket without even touching the rim, I'm still not that impressed by this dunk. _________________ Do you like music?
