|
|
Mike DŽAntoni at his New York Knick Press Conference:
| Quote: |
D'Antoni wouldn't touch a question about how much James, Wade and the other 2010 free agents had come up in his discussions with Walsh -- "No, you're not going to get me to go there" -- and he discounted the notion that he had formed any sort of special bond with James during their extensive time together the past two summers with Team USA. (They'll be together again this summer in Beijing, when D'Antoni can whisper in James' ear that it might serve everyone best if he waits until 2011 to decide between the Cavs, Knicks and Jay Z's Brooklyn Nets, whose new arena probably won't be built until then anyway.)
"I learned that [James] wants to learn to speak Mandarin and conquer the world of Chinese business. Like with Kobe, I learned how focused he can get, and I learned that he wants to be the best player -- just like Kobe," D'Antoni said.

This dosent surprise me because D'Antoni has known Kobe and his family since Kobe was a kid growing up in Italy.Kobe even said Mike D'Antoni was one of his idols growing up watching him play pro basketball in Italy with Kobe's dad.Joe "Jellybean" Bryant.

D'Antoni is why Kobe wore #8. |

Umm... NO !
He wore # 8 because he added up his number (143) from the Adidas ABCD basketball camp that he attended before going pro and also because he wanted to wear # 33 because that was his high school # and 33 was already retired in the rafters for Kareeem. |

Your right, but Lakerzrevenge isn't wrong. D'Antoni wore #8 and that's one of the many reasons why he wore the number. _________________ "Let me say one more thing about Kobe. | He had also worn number 8 as a child in Italy,[9] as a salute to Mike D'Antoni, who was one of his early idols and wore number 8 as a professional basketball player in Italy. |

| he's not saying kobe's the best player. all that statement says is that lebron is focused and has aspirations/drive to be the best player, much like kobe. |

Actually, Lebron did say that Kobe was the best player earlier this year. |

You'll see that commercial in China.
I was in Shanghai last fall and remember seeing a Lebron commercial played on one of those building-mounted electronic billboards. Basketball is big in China and Lebron knows where the $ is. |

i mean what D'antonio is saying is that he feels lebron is as focused and driven as kobe. |
