Would a Jeff foster + filler + 2nd Rounder for Kwame + filler + 1st Rounder (protected) be a good trade. It may take relinquishing the 2nd coming from Indiana to get this deal done. Something along the lines of:
Jeff Foster + Marquis Daniels + 2nd Rounder (Possibly not) for Kwame Brown + Sasha Vujacic + 1st Rounder.
The Salaries work: Real Gm trade ID # 4412225
Now both Jeff foster and Marquis Daniels have one more year on their contracts than Kwame or Sasha. Yet they both do expire at the same time as Odom. Indiana gets immediate cap relief and a 1st round pick; they may ask for more. Therefore, Constructive criticism and advise would be appreciated.
The salaries for Jeff Foster and Marquis Daniels could be combined along with Odom next year to get a major piece to what could be a champion contender for years to come. the salaries are as follows starting with this year.
=========================
Jeff Foster
07/08: $5,700,000
8/09: $6,175,000 (Player Option)
--------------------------------------------
Marquis Daniels
07/08: $6,370,000
08/09: $6,860,000
09/10: $7,350,000 (Team Option)
---------------------------------------------
Odom
Lamar Odom
07/08: $13,524,000
08/09: $14,559,000
==========================
Next season the lakers would have $21,419,000.00 in expiring contracts if Jeff Foster Opts out; Otherwise, the lakers would have a total of $27,594,000.00 in expiring contracts. This should be very integral in possibly netting a disgrunted allstar or some key contributors if the lakers choose to go with this route. This of course would be all speculation and good food for thought. This allows major cap flexibility next season.
The main reason the lakers would do this is to solidify the front court in the absence of Andrew Bynum this season. But the other intangibles I mention should be taken into consideration. Indiana on the other had nets a 1st round pick and a minimum of $13,035,000.00 in cap savings. Please share your collective thoughts.
Please refrain from trying to convince indiana to take any of our bad contracts. They do not need nor do they want any part of Vladimir Radmanovic or his contract. |

Good idea, but I believe we overpay for Foster here. I don't like the idea of giving up a first for him because he is a one-dimensional player.
I say go after the better player in Kurt Thomas and offer the same exact package with Damien Wilkins involved instead of Daniels. _________________ All-NBA Challenge: Garcia, perfect for the Sonics(7/22)

I do like Kurt Thomas just as much. However, I believe that Kurt will be walking at the end of this year to a Texas team. And I really do not like the Idea of swapping picks for half a season. I really like the above trade for the cap flexibility it provides next season. |

I live in Seattle so allow me to provide some insight into Kurt Thomas. On more than one occasion, he has said that he has enjoyed his stay in Seattle and that he likes the city. He even hinted at possibly resigning.
The Texas comments came after a jerk of a reporter, and I must emphasize JERK, asked him whether or not he was an "Oklahoma City Guy". Now if you are familiar with the situation in Seattle, the Sonics might be moved to Oklahoma City. Basically, this smart mouth was just trying to crack a stupid joke. Kurt basically responded that he more of a Texas guy than an Oklahoma guy(he played at Texas Christian in college and Oklahoma colleges are huge rivals).
Kurt can, and will, resign to a team that is a contender. He simply wants to be a contributor on a contending team at this point in his career. _________________ All-NBA Challenge: Garcia, perfect for the Sonics(7/22)

| Jeff Foster is one of the best offensive rebounders in the game. The Pacers are also fighting for a playoff spot in which I doubt they take back Kwame and his consistent unproductivity. At this point, O'Neal is more expendable than Foster. |
