Denver Post -
It appears the Nuggets will be returning to Denver between games 1 and 2 of their opening round series against the Los Angeles Lakers , the Denver Post is reporting.

"I just think three days (in Los Angeles) is too long," coach George Karl said. "You play an afternoon game, get back that night; I think it gives us more of a comfort zone for the coaching staff. . . . I just don't like being in the enemy city that long."

Quote:
Game 1 is set for 1 p.m. MDT, with Game 2 scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Nuggets have had two days between their first two playoff games in each of the past four seasons, and the decision to fly home was not unanimously endorsed in the locker room.

"That's a 'no comment,' " center Marcus Camby said when asked his thoughts on the commuting schedule. "That's a touchy subject.

"I was always told you get more distractions at home. Whatever they want to do is fine with us, as long as it's about winning basketball games."

"Touchy subject" huh? man10

I remember the Lakers doing something like this when we play the Spurs in the playoffs.

well seeing as there's plenty of time, and they're not too far away, I think it's a good idea.

too bad we can't do that vs. the Celtics if we reach the finals though, they're a little too far away.

I don't know, maybe Melo wanted to go back to Denver.

1. He knows he wouldn't get the special treatment by police in L.A.
2. I know hes with Lala but I heard somewhere that Denver is the number one city in America for Singles. Club life, bars, ect...

smart move by karl. i can see AI at spearmint rhino all night hoggin all the ladies. i wonder how the players r taking this? I'm sure some of em DO want to stay in teh city rather than travel back and forth. the flight isn't bad at all so i gues they cant complain about that but maybe some did want to stay in LA....wanna see how this plays out. maybe im just reaching but wat if this causes some colossal dissent amongst the team? All in favor of LA clubs/hollywood!!!

Yep.

My thing is, I sure hope none of his guys have any nagging/swelling injuries. All those flights won't help any of the swelling. But hey, I'm not the coach of a team having to spend 3 days in L.A. . mhihi

it is what it is. they'll have access to the film department, training/medical staff + practice facility back in denver. makes sense for them to recharge out there than practice at loyola marymount or staples.

really won't make any difference in the series IMO.

This isn't really news. The Lakers have done that in the past.

We did it in 2004. Lost both games. But, of course, we won game 5 man1

It's funny that Karl uses the word "enemy" as if Laker fans treated them in a nasty way. But it's a correct decision.

They wouldve gotten the finger had they stayed in L.A. longer.

Its good for us. That means they would have already taken 4 flights to the Lakers 1 when we go to Denver.
