I Really Like our whole line-up but it really is impossible to keep Lamar Odom, while signing Ronny, Sasha, and Andrew Bynum because of Salary Cap issues.
The Lakers #1 Priority is Defense this offseason especially Perimeter Defense.
Lakers need depth at the Point guard, Shooting guard, and at the Center Position.
Based off of these needs this is what I think should happen.
#1 Lakers Trade Lamar Odom for Shane Battier and Houston's first Round Pick
#2 Lakers Sign try to sign in this order Kurt Thomas, Diop, Francisco Elson, this will be at the veteran's minimum so the center will come cheap.
#3 Lakers Trade Luke Walton and Second Round Pick for Martell Webster and Blazers Second Round Pick.
With Our First Round Pick Select in this Order: Ty Lawson or Mario Chalmers
With Our Second Round Pick Devon Hardin or Joey Dorsey
Also we Should try to sign Ronny, and Sasha but try not overpay Sasha because he is expendable.
Lineup 2008-2009
Fisher/Farmar/Lawson
Kobe/ Sasha/ Webster
Battier/Ariza/ Radmonovic
Gasol/Ronny/Radmonovic
Bynum/Thomas/Hardin
with
Mihm on IL
This way Lawson and Hardin can develop for the future, and we have a good mix youth and veterans to make a chapioship run. Also we will be saving money when we do not have to pay Lamar Odom $14 a year.
This is also an excellent defensive line-up and also many of the players can play multiple positions so with the injuries the Lakers usually have there will be plenty of depth to rotate players around.
Also Battier has played with Gasol it will make for an easy transition, and Battier can take over for Kobe on defense so Kobe can be more deadly on offense.
Finally Lawson is an excellent point guard who will grow behind farmar and fisher and in 2 years when fisher retires Lawson will be ready to run the point for the future. Lawson is like a young fisher and he'll fit the triangle really well.
Let me know what you guys think, and I know a lot of you are against trading Odom but remember DEFENSE wins championships not offense just look at the Spurs or the 2000-2003 Lakers.
Also for clarification Blazers do the trade because they get a veteran with playoff experience and they all have to many shooting guards with Roy and Rudy Fernandez.
Rockets do the trade to upgrade the offense the way Adelman likes it and the Rockets have need a great third option for a long time. |

| Lamar Odom?! are you kidding me? Buss just wants to win and has a lot of money.. why would the organization kill the chemistry with the current roster. I don't expect too much trades happening or probably just keep the same roster. |

Sadly, BUss is not Paul Allen and doens't have billions of dollars to spend like some owners. If Allen were our GM, he could afford to offer Odom his current salary, plus extened all our players. The only way this works out is if
1. Warren Buffet buys the Lakers
2. Lamar is willing to sacrafice money to play for a team that could contend for many years. I would also love Kove to take a paycut to help out, but forget that, its not in his makeup to do that. However, I could see Odom doing it, if he did we could resign everyone, as signing your own players doesn't count against the cap/ |
