Trade Kwame and Sasha to Philly for Dalembert

Money works.

Philly makes this trade to get nearly 14 million in money off the books next year.

They aren't going to do anything this year anyway so why not clear some cap space and try to build around AI and Andre Miller next year.

If we need to give them a 1st round pick.

This would really solidify our PF/C need for years to come.

I know a lot of you are going to say that this will interfere with the "2010" plan, but none of us can tell what the future holds, so I say solidify our team now and let the future give us what ever it holds for us. And if this doesn't bring us to the championship level and Kobe leaves, we would still be in a strong position with young team that will be together for the next 6-10 years.

I like the idea, and the Sixers might even fall for it. But that's the thing. The Lakers are getting a huge cap relief next season and already have a legitimate center in Andrew Bynum to even be thinking of wasting the opportunity to shed nearly 10 million in cap space for a center who is overpaid and will not be starting. As for Kwame, he sucks but we can use his body to pester bigs in the playoffs; we saw what he can do in last years playoff run. If anything, save some money to give Bynum a max deal when he becomes a free agent in the coming years. We will need him big.

I can see Sam as a PF when Bynum gets better. He has some on the block moves, but with Bynum dominating in the blocks, Sam can come from the weak side for garbage points and put backs as our PF. He really isn't a scoring center like Bynum, but he has the potential to be a solid role player who can give 10-12PPG, 8-12RPG, 2BPG. We're paying Kwame the same money as Sam and he's only giving us 5 and 5.

Can you inagine the defense that we would have with Bynum and Dalembert blocking everything in the paint. Besides with Kwame being gone next year we will need a strong backup to Bynum. He can get about 15 minutes backing up Bynum at center and another 10-15 minutes at the PF spot.

And even with Kwame and Sasha's contract off our books we will still be over the salary cap, so we won't be able to offer anything more than the MLE.

If anything, I would rather start Odom at the power forward spot. Dalembert is fit to be a center and nothing more. He can't score on the block like he would have to in order to be a productive power forward in the West. I think Odom and Turiaf would be best in rotating the 4 spot.

I see what you are saying though. We need a good backup center for Andrew Bynum, especially when Mihm is gone. But with that good of a center in Bynum, I just don't like paying Dalembert 10 mil a year to be a reserve, because I think Odom or Turiaf deserves that sparting 4 spot more than Dalembert would. Odom is versatile and though he doesn't score much he is equally as effective and more - he can give us 6-8 assists a game as well as rebound and run the break - in terms of rebound than Dalembert can give us. As for the garbage man, Turiaf is that and more. I just don't think we need Sammy D at this point, especially for what he is worth financially.

I'd rather trade them LO and Luke/Vlad/Sasha for Iggy and Dalembert. Dalembert can start at PF or backup both spots and Iggy can start at SF. That gives us 2 strong perimeter defenders and a backup big man.

Samuel Dalembert has a contract that extends into 2010-2011. He's not an option financially.

Secondly, what makes you guys think that a somewhat young double double big man is worth mere expiring contracts?
