OK, I just had my live draft for my league with a bunch of buddies ive know most of my life. Were all very competitive and involved with fantasy football and have played this together for about 10 straight years now. This is the ultimate bragging rights league.
Points per reception league. Starting rosters go like this:
QB
WR
RB
TE
FLEX
FLEX
FLEX
K
D/ST
My roster: (I picked 7th overall out of 10)
Potential Starters:
Tony Romo
Rudi Johnson
Plaxico Burress
Todd Heap
Travis Henry
Marion Barber
Edgerin James
Chargers D/ST
Bench:
Leon Washington
Adrian Peterson
Matt Jones
Robert Meachum
Ronald Curry
Michael Clayton
Ben rothliesberger
Dante Culpepper

I was happy with my draft, which isnt always the case when im done.
First glance it may not look like your league dominating, star studded, fantasy juggernaut. But I had a strategy and i stuck with it. Its hard to pass over those stud big name WR's (Chad Johsnon, Torry Holt, Steve Smith, ect....) but the consistent points are with the RB's in my opinion. Every year, towards the end of the season, people are scrambling around to pick up any starting RB and play him. I can certainly remember times when Im sitting with Chad Johnson who has 4 catches for 70 yards and zero TD's, while some rookie RB filling in for injury is scoring 10 more points!!
I strongly believe that a solid ground game is key, and receivers can be interchanged or found much easier throughout the season. Thats why i started this draft out with an unprecedented RB, RB, RB, RB my first four picks!
I really felt like there was value to be had with late round receivers and/or QB's and while I could certainly use a little help here I think I have some guys that could bring some serious upside. Im the guy who drafted maroney AND Maurice Jones-Drew last year!! _________________ I Offered My Honor

Standard scoring league right?
Picks b4 you went: LT, SJ, LJ, SA, Gore, Addai/Parker.....then you took Rudi.
Rudi is indeed a safe pick for TD's. Consistent 12 TDs per as it gets. I do believe Addai/Parker has more upside that Rudi though.
Then you took Henry next. I personally think that is a steal. Henry is top 10 pick this year in my eyes. Gotta love Den RB's. Especially one who fits that zone blocking so well like Henry....plus no damn committee this year. I predict 1600 and 13 TD's.
Barber is good for 8-9 TD's and little yards. But this is a traditional league so i like this pick. I take it he was your 3rd round pick? If so, its quite high for him. Barber is around a 5-6 rounder or maybe 7th in the leagues i have been in.
No comment on Edge til i see one ARIZ game.
I like Plax alot. If Eli bounces back and tosses 27 TD.....Plax will get 11 of those.
I love the Romo pick. 25 TDs guaranteed. I am scared about the INTS though. _________________

Thanks for chiming in borri.....
Actually I took Edge 3rd round. Hes gonna get carries in a good offense and an upgraded offensive line. Also, its a points per reception league, so he should see a few balls thrown his way.
i actually didnt take Plaxico until the 7th round. My plan is to run all 3 flex players as RB anyway so I really just need one of my WR's to pan out. So i picked some sleeper WR's like Meachum, Matt Jones, and Ronald Curry. I just need one of them to pan out......
Wow. Barber going 7th round? In a league like this one, no way a starting RB, even a RBBC with any potential drops that low. But Im not afraid to take a guy that i really like a little early.
As for Romo, I think hes primed for a good season. I did manage to get him pretty late, considering he was the 9th overall QB taken. _________________ I Offered My Honor

I had presumed it was a tradional scoring league. Since its PPR, I am quite surprised you went RB, RB, RB, RB. I would of gone RB, WR, WR, WR, WR. The drop off in PPR for RB production is HUGE after the top 10 RB's taken. There just aren't many RB's that can catch the ball.
Since its PPR, why didn't you take Westbrook instead of Rudi. Afraid of the injury bug on him?
Since its PPR i can understand Bush going that high. I have seen some "expert PPR drafts" with Bush going in #3 ahead of LJ and SA. If he manages to score 10 total TDs in addition to all those receptions, he could outperform Gore and Addai. I don't see why SA has dropped so much this year. He, in my mind is ahead of LJ who is primed for a big let down this year....my gut feeling. _________________

In our scoring system, RB's still outperform WR on a regular basis, ecspecially in terms of consistency. I did some research on our leagues numbers last year, and there were only 4 WR's in the top 100 in terms of scoring. _________________ I Offered My Honor

Interesting scoring system. Can you elaborate? _________________

Yes, only way that makes sense is if your league awards 10 yds/point rushing and 20 yds/point receiving with 1 pt/reception. |
