MDI...GS and Dallas was a different series...Nellie had the inside track on how to stop Dirk cuz he coached those guys....big advantage in a 7 game series....its all about MATCH UPS...but hey we shouldnt discount the Hawks...theyw ill put up a fight, it wont be blow outs...but i expect a 4-0 sweep and anything short of that will hafto give Celtics fans some worry....they need to take care of Atlanta quickly and not let them believe they have a shot...

Atlanta has playoff proven Mike Bibby as their PG...Joe Johnson has been there too (WCF i believe)...after that tho, everyone is pretty new to the playoffs...but then again, Boston has Rondo, Perkins, Big Baby, Leon Powe....lots of guys that contributed this year but havent tasted the playoffs yet...

and guys u can rag on KG, Ray Ray and Pierce all u want...but KG did get his team to the WCF and lost to OUR Lakers who featured a lineup of Malone, GP, Kobe and Shaq....yes he had spree and cassell but KG was MVP that year for a reason....ray ray's team got to the ECF i believe and went up against AI's sixers...thats respectable in it self and he was the best player on that Bucks team that had G-Rob, Cassell and TT...and then Pierce carried that Boston team to the ECF against J-Kidd's nets....they nearly got to the finals...so dont count him out too...these guys have all been to the conference finals in their respective conferences...so they got experience....They will definitely bring it, but wiiill the others be ready?

With that said, BOSTON IN 4

Hawks(post-Bibby trade) were within 2-3 possessions going into the 4th quarter in the last two meetings. I think they will play better than most expect, but I still see Boston winning every game with superior execution down the stretch. JJ is not clutch.

A friend of mine has some tickets to game 4. I might go, just depends on how close the first 3 games are. If the first 3 are blowouts, I'd rather watch it at home. And I have to figure whether I can pry myself away from the textbooks. They're killing me with all these last minute papers and exams and then throw GTA 4 on top of that.

Kevin Garnett Misses 2nd Straight Practice

Celtics forward Kevin Garnett missed his second straight practice for family reasons ahead of Boston's opening round matchup with the Atlanta Hawks.

While no official reason has been given for the absence, both the Boston Globe and the Boston Herald are reporting that Garnett's wife has had a baby.

"Even though he's away, he's tuned in to what we're doing," Paul Pierce said. "We're not worried because we know he'll be fine when he gets back."

KG's back

Quote:
ESPN: Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett is back at practice as his team prepares for its first-round series against the Atlanta Hawks.

The 11-time All-Star had missed the previous two practices because of the birth of his first child, The Boston Globe reported.

Garnett would not comment about the birth.

He also worked out Friday night and watched video.

"Family issues are never public, so I ask [the media] to respect that," Garnett told The Globe. "I'm looking forward to play. I'm excited about playing tomorrow."

The Hawks will certainly give Boston some problems if they can maintain an uptempo style of offense. Boston has struggled against more athletic teams this season and I expect those struggles to continue against Atlanta.

Boston in 6

I bet a die-hard Hawks fan (friend of mine) $20 on this series. I could've taken his entire wallet, but I felt bad.

Boston in three. The other win doesn't even matter.

There's a difference between being a fan and being stupid.

Good thing you're a nice guy. You could have owned his financial plan.

My 2nd favorite team is whoever is playing the leprechauns and has been for more than two decades. I enjoyed watching them suffer for most of that time. I don't like any of their players, coaches, and I especially don't like ANY of their fans. There's a guy that used to go to the 24hr. Fitness I go to here in Dallas. He would come in wearing a leprechaun shirt at least once a week. I'd guard him every single game and anytime he attempted to go to the hole he was getting thrown to the floor. On offense I'd intentionally charge him every so often with no intent to score just to run him over for being a leprechauns fan.

Hopefully some of the younger Laker fans who don't remember the 80's will grow to dislike the leprechauns over the next few seasons so that the rivalry will be passed on to a new group of fans. I'll pull for Atlanta until they're done and then I'll root for whoever has them next.

All right Hawks, the 76ers beat the Pistons at the Palace. Let's see if you can get a W in the Garden.

Sees score: 9-2 already. :gulp:

If the Hawks are going to even entertain the idea of competing in one of these games then they are going to need Horford to really show up.

Bibby gets a T. When you're down by 13 already, you can't afford to give up any additional points.

I just can't see this going beyond 4 games.

I think Detroit will probably win in 5 but look at Dallas last year - you never know.

It's always like that for the first few minutes in Boston.

Hawks made good cut into the lead and then give it right back to the Celtics. Way to go disagree
