To boost metabolism, you gotta up your exercise and try some fruit in the morning.
To gain weight, hit the weights. Muscle is actually heavier than fat. So do weights, and try to lift heavy and short sessions. Don't over do it. Rest is as important to gain muscle. Mcki'D's ain't gonna do anything for you except make your face fat and look like an ice cream cone. |

Thats a good tip however, i don't think a salad is a salad with a ranch dressing. it just doesn't feel the same.

hmmm...6 meals a day in small portions...i'd stick with just 3 main meals a day along with a healthy snack or two in between breakfast/lunch/dinner
my friends been following that 6 meals a day plan so he could gain weight..and it has been working for him
so...
- Eat Healthy
- Do NOT skip meals
- Exercise
good luck |

no way in 2 weeks. you cant . 2 months. you might get in shape.
www.bodybuilding.com go read up on exercise.
1. learn to lift weights. try not to take protein. work out 3 times a weeks. plan out your schedule.
2. do cardio to lose some of your fats
3. healthy eating. eat 5 to 6 small meals, rather than 3 big meals. this will get your metabolism going. eat healthier to lose your body fat percentage. good luck |

I am on a wight loss regiment also, well I have been on a get healthy diet for about 9 months now.
I've dropped about 48 pounds since December, took a break over the summer and mantained, now I am back on the horse and have dropped 6 pounds in the last week.
Been keeping my calories at 1k-1.5k and drink a gallon of water a day, get in some basketball or cardio and the weight is falling off. |

And when it rains it pours. I used to get pissed because I would work so hard and never lose weight then when I got to that point where I had been working out routinely for awhile the pounds shed like crazy. Then literally my pants started falling off. _________________

I've been doing that for the past 6 weeks. I eat less than 1,000 cals a day actually, watch the sugar and try to run at least a mile a day and do some stuff like push ups etc. Only been getting results that aren't very noticeable. Weights been about the same _________________

less than 1000, dude dont starve yourself. Try like every 4th day splurging a little. Your bodys metabolism is tricky see it adjust to burn just about as much as you intake. So you'll burn less if you eat less. So by mixing it up like every 4th day you keep your body striving to metabolize. Don't worry though, noticeable results are not too far away. I was busting my romp for like a month and half before I noticed much of anything. _________________

Alright I'll do that then, splurge every fourth day. Even though I feel pretty full with say 700 or so cals. And I hope you're right, it can get frustrating at this point. _________________

That might be the problem, your body is used to eating so little calories, breaking it up might help (like Danny said) |

Whats the fastest way to lose weight? Ive heard many ways but im not sure which will work?
I know drink alot of water helps but what do I eat and or how often should I eat?
Last week I hardly ate cus I was down and didnt feel like eating and I felt lighter and like i lost weight and I used to drink alot of freakin Pepsi like a 12 pack a day no joke! but i havent drank soda in 1 week straight..... i know thats key too but what else could I do??? |
Run 3 miles everyday. Even if you have to walk a lot of it do it.
Skip breakfast. And for lunch and dinner have sanwhiches with white meat or fish and a salad. Drink a lot of water. The 5 meals a day doesn't speed up your metabolism as much as people say it does. I believe you only burn an extra 100 calories or something. Most people end up overeating in their 5 meals per day . _________________ TEAM FARMAR MEMBER

Simple? That's so much harder than it sounds. It'll take you ten minutes to burn off a coke. Let alone all the rest of the junk you consume in a day.
Here, I'm trying to get myself into this: http://www.crossfit.com/
Heard it works real well. Good luck. |
what are you talking about?
being alive consumes calories. as long as you exercise and watch what you eat, you should be able to burn more than you take in. |

it really is burning more calories than you take in. The key is to lower your caloric intake
a few tips. Higher fiber makes you feel full and has fewer calories. White meat has less fat. Veggies have tons of water thus fewer calories. Drink diet coke instead or regular coke. _________________ TEAM FARMAR MEMBER

your body will adapt to extreme reduced caloric intake...so unless you plan on eating between 1-1.5kcal for the rest of your life, it's not really ideal. |

Thanks for the advice, but I know how to maintain and still enjoy food. Over the summer I basically ate without worrying about calories and didn't gain or loose anything. So its all good. |

if you eat less than 1000 cals per day, your body is coming more efficient at storing those 1000 calories into fat because you're starving yourself. you're not seeing any results because your metabolism has slowed itself down to match what you're giving it.
running a mile is like 10 minutes of exercise. it's not much. try doing a minimum of 30 min of cardio per day. 30 minutes of walking is already more than a mile.
the key isn't lowering your caloric intake. lowering your caloric intake >300 calories of what your body is used to will lower your basal metabolic rate. the most healthy way to lower your caloric intake is to do it slowly. therefore, the best way to lose weight is to exercise and burn those calories while maintaining a proper caloric intake. |

I used to be overweight, I'd say about 20 lbs too big, and earlier this year i decided it was time to do something about that.
In the past I've tried to go running and change my diet and its helped me lose 10 lbs or so here and there, but nothing ever significant.
So I completely changed my lifestyle and in 3 and a half months i dropped 55 lbs.
For me, it was all about the mental aspect of dieting/exercising.
It took time but in reality, to me losing weight was all about portion control. Convincing myself that less food could fill me up, and gradually it started to happen.
I kinda have a soda addiction too. Instead of drinking regular soda I went crazy with diet coke and water.
I used to drink a diet soda or a lot of water before I ate so my stomach would feel full of less eating.
I did increase my exercise rate, made sure I got good cardiovascular exercise to burn the fat, but nothing so excessive like most people recommend.
I also have to disagree with only eating fruits and veggies, etc. Those need to be in a daily diet, but its possible to lose a substantial amount of weight while still being able to enjoy foods you like.
I did it, and now im in hella good shape.
Seriously for all those out there trying to lose weight, its a mind battle. Convince yourself to change while still enjoying eating. Trust me, if you're having a miserable time doing this, you're not going to be motivated to stick with it for a long enough time for it to bear results. |

Let me just say a few things all you're guaranteed to loose weight.
-Never skip a meal. Try to eat 5-6 small meals throughout the whole day. If u skip a meal there goes your metabolism. Think about your metabolism being a fireplace, your food is the wood. Never ever skip a meal.
-Try to eat around 10x your weight in calories. If you weigh 170, eat 1700 calories a day. Its hard but itll help. Avoid bad calories from junk food.
-Cardio but not cardio only. People always think cardio is the only way to lose weight. If you do too much cardio you'll eventually just destroy your muscles. You need to mix in a good balance or cardio/aerobic/endurance exercises with anaerobic/resistance exercises. If you do anaerobic which is lifting weights. Youll build up your muscle mass. The more lean muscle mass you have, the more calories your metabolism will burn.
-Try not to look at your weight as measuring point. Try to tack off pure body fat percentage. Usually when people go on diets they lose muscle and water weight mainly and little fat is lost. If you weigh more but look better thats all that counts. We all know muscle weighs more then fat.
-Drink alot of water
- Be extremely patient. _________________ [C.L.K] One team. One Clan.

Congrats, are you feeling lightheaded? If yes, seek medical attention immediately. Not saying its not amazing, but 20 lbs in a month is a bit steep. _________________

i don't know if it has been suggested, but why don't we open up an official workout thread?
then we can motivate each other, check up people so they don't skid their workouts, possibly check the calorie intake so people don't over stuff themselves, and maybe do some weight check?
i think it would be a great idea _________________ TONY STARK WAS ABLE TO BUILD THIS IN A CAVE......WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS!!! - Obadiah Stane
