Lyon again approached by Barcelona over Benzema availability
May 15, 2008

Barcelona have made fresh contact with Olympique Lyon over the availability of star striker Karim Benzema.

DiarioSport says Barca have again sounded out Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas and general manager Bernard Lacombe about the prospect of opening talks over a deal for Benzema.

Aulas is adamant he won't consider selling Benzema until 2009. However, Barca, flush with the cash raised from the expected sales of Samuel Eto'o, Ronaldinho and Deco, could persuade the Lyon supremo to sell with a bumper offer.

Incoming Barca coach Pep Guardiola has already informed sports chief Txiki Begiristain and president Joan Laporta that landing a prolific striker must be a priority for the summer market.

Barcelona offer £25M for Sevilla pair Keita, Alves
May 15, 2008

Barcelona have tabled a formal bid for Sevilla powerhouse Seydou Keita.

Barca sports director Txiki Begiristain has been considering a move for the Mali international for some time and made a £7 million bid this week.

The offer was made during talks with Sevilla over fullback Daniel Alves as Begiristain seeks to land both players ahead of a host European rivals. In total, Barca are willing to cough up £25 million for the pair.

However, Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido has knocked back the proposal, informing Begiristain he won't do business over Keita and Alves for less than £33 million.

More talks will continue in the coming days, with Begiristain also discussing the deal with the agents of both Alves and Keita this week.

Barcelona president Laporta plans sensational Kaka bid
May 14, 2008

Barcelona president Joan Laporta is seriously considering launching an amazing bid for AC Milan star Kaka.

DiarioSport says Laporta and his board recognises that Barca's team needs to be reinvigorated - just as they were when he first was elected president with the capture of Ronaldinho ahead of Manchester United.

With Milan in talks with Barca over Ronaldinho and Gianluca Zambrotta, Laporta intends to put forward a mega swap offer to convince the Rossoneri to part with their Brazilian ace.

Laporta would be willing to offer Ronaldinho, Zambrotta and Deco - plus £15 million cash - in exchange for Kaka, which would effectively be the richest transfer in history.

Kaka has made it no secret his desire to play in Spain and Milan's failure to qualify for next season's Champions League will unsettle the Brazilian, who has lost his status as the world's best player in the last 12 months.

Barca is doing the right thing...

they need to get rid of Henry, Deco, Ronaldinho, Zambrotta, Milito

they all absolutely SUCKED NUTS.

They need to retool. The team had absolutely no soul this season altho they have GREAT GREAT players at every position.

Alves and Benzema would be sensational. That would be brilliant. But they need to keep Eto'o, He was one of the few good strikers this year.

They need to get rid of the guys I mentioned along with Edmilson, Silvinho and Gudjohnson. These guys are trash.

Kaka would be a dream but its a pipe dream to be exact. Same as Ronaldo.

Rijkaard being fired was a good move. But Sep Guardiola? please...I mean he knows the identity of the club, he knows the players, the atmosphere and the Barca philosophy but he has no coaching experience whatsoever...not sure its a good choice to start a career right there with great pressure and at the highest level.

I would have prefered Mourinho altho he is an a-hole and I hate him...but he would be the right coach...especially to insult Real fans man9

Gerard Piquet is back to Barcelona from Manchester United for approximately 6-7 mio. Euros...

Deco is all but gone
Laporta also yesterday said Ronaldinho won't be back next year

Etoo, Henry, Marquez, Zambrotta, Gudjohnson are all there for grabs...

the expiring Ks of Thuram, Pinto, Edmilson and Ezquerro won't be extended, they are definitely DONE with Barcelona. Barca would just try to re-sign Silvinho as a backup...

players Barca wants

Cesc Fabregas
Emmanuel Adebayor
Xabi Alonso
Dani Alves (seems like it will be Barca or Chelsea or ManU) I really hope we get him. He is awesome.

Txiki yesterday said there will be major changes coming up and we will retool and they will field a product that will be exciting to watch.

I'm personally very happy with the decisions. The team was dead and some chemistry issues were coming up with the losing. We needed to make a cut here and start something new.

Barca also had great interest in Garay but Real stole him for 10 mio. Barca could have had him at a higher price earlier but decided to go with Piquet since he was a Barca player before and because he was cheaper and pretty much as good.

Seriously, he should stay with Man Utd. I really hope he stays.

Man, I'm really nervous about the final. I hope Man U wins. I hate chelski scums.

As an Arsenal fan I am neutral for tonights Champions League final. I think it will be a tough fight for both teams. Chelsea are physically stronger and more experienced, whilst United are faster and more skillful. I get the feeling Chelsea will take this one 2-1.

Just my gut feeling.

Yeah, no doubt. We should be up at least 2-1, if not 3-1.

Momentum has turned a bit in favor of Chelsea. Lucky for us Ronaldo is on top of his game today....when you have soccer's version of Kobe on your side anything can happen.

At least Giggs shot was on target until it got redirected. Tevez had no excuse on his second miss in the first half.

Oh and yeah, VERY glad to see Cole the whiner head out. He's the Tim Duncan of this game....crying about everything.

Kind of a lame red card, but if you're gonna slap a dude you know what's coming.

PK's could be interesting with the slippery pitch. Keepers will have poor footing. You've seen Van Der Saar slip several times already.
