I'm obviously thinking waaaaaay too far ahead, but what if Kobe/Bynum/Pau each significantly contribute enough over the years to bring use 2-3 titles? My comment is, it would be insane if they all palyed hard enough to force managment to retire all of their numbers!

Shaq goes up there one day, along with Kobe's #8 and #24, but maybe Bynum and Pau as well if they dominate? We'll one day run out of numbers if this keeps up, lol.

I don't think they photoshop'ed Pau with the Laker jersey, did they, if they didn't, where's the original picture?

I find this funny:

Quote:
Gasol, 27, acquired last Friday by the Lakers, had missed three of his last four games with the Memphis Grizzlies because of a sore back.

"I feel much better than I have been feeling"
Gasol said.

No kidding? Wow, those back injuries, sore muscles, spasms etc... they heal so fast, it's unbelievable.

Gasol's t-shirts, jerseys etc, will start selling like hotcakes now. I think, for the Buss family, this is money well spent.

I think eventually before Bynum returns we should run Turiaf out there as our center and see how Pau does at PF and Odom at SF

We also get Chris Mihm back in a week anyways so there's our "backup"

we don't want Gasol to get too comfy at C and then all of a sudden he has to move out of position and start struggling

But not now, maybe towards the back end of the trip and against a couple of scrub teams before Andrew returns

It just hit me again - the Lakers got Gasol - and for nothing!

This is going to be fun!

That looks photoshopped. I'm pretty sure that's a picture of Radmanovic on medium day with Gasol's head photoshopped on.

As much as it would be nice to have Turiaf starting at PF, right now he is the back up center. I suspect that Turiaf comes off the bench and backs up both C / PF spots. Lamar will start at PF and play some SF. Vlad will play when Lamar is on the floor, but I suspect they want to limit his exposure. With Lamar, you can always switch, but with Turiaf he has to guard the PF. Also Luke is regressing (as he always does) so he may play limited or no time.

Ka-PAU!

Seriously thinking about going to tomorrow's game...

This is such great news about the Lakers. Realistically I think Bynum will be slow to get back to his normal self, and the incorporation of Pau will mean this team will be the odds on favorite to win sometime next season, not this season.

But on paper this team is stacked and probably the best team on paper in the NBA.

So many options and variables all across the board that I feel sorry for opposing teams. Ok, actually I don't.

I loved that old 98 team when they had loads of talent and the twin towers of Elden & Shaq. The only reason they didn't win b/c of coaching, and I think Phil would've won with that unit.

So now they get that. A huge front court, extremely intimidating and would reject enough shots or alter them enough to have a strong advantage.

So what are the concerns?

1. Luke Walton, Trevor Ariza, Vlad Rad, and Odom are all SF's on this team. Means one or two are expendable.

2. Salary. Bynum will get a max extension, and will force Buss to dump some salaries, I think Vlad & Luke could be options dumped... or maybe even Odom for a draft pick (although I like LO as a 4th option)

3. Bynum's adjustment. Like Elden/Shaq, many said Elden had a tough time playing with Shaq in there. I don't think Pau will have that problem, and I'm sure hoping Bynum doesn't. There are rumors that Bynum's injury will take longer, and that LA will be more cautious. We shall see, but hopefully these are the new twin towers. It worked for San Antonio, it should work for us.

That's about it. I think I had more fun reading opposing teams message boards as reaction to the Lakers coming back to elite status.
