Did you watch the Presidential debate? It was a joke!

Rudy Giuliani couldn't talk about anything except how his city, New York reduced crimes by 20%, increased the security of the city to the point where even smaller cities don't compare, blah blah. Answer the [Swearing is not permitted at Clublakers. You must edit this post prior to submitting.] question and quit telling us about your worthless statistics that hold absolutely no water.

And Ron looked angry. I don't blame him, he's fighting as hard as he can to get our country on track and out of the mess we're in. Everything he says is absolutely true and they're also things that most Americans want. No IRS, no taxes, reduced spending (which also means no pointless wars), no Iraq War, no more inflation, less Government involvement, etc etc... and yet people would rather vote for a President they can make fun of, like Romney or Giuliani.

I guess it's true that most Americans aren't that smart after all.

Americans have become oblivious to everything around them (yes i have said this before mhihi )

And somewhere down the line, Americans got this crazy idea that they are helpless and want the government to hold their hand. It really doesn't make sense.

And now people embrace this idea of BIG government watching every single move and it's really insane. They want to gain security by sacrificing liberties? Have people learned NOTHING from history?

By the way does anybody know how well or bad is he doing in primary standings?

It sounds like they're miked so I was guessing it was one or more of the other candidates. Major media always uses Ron like a clown, did you see the moderator's sneer on his face every time he asked Ron a question? All the stars are aligned against him and he's still making progress.

Has this been a hectic and encouraging time! First we got almost 17% in the Texas straw poll, an event set-up to represent the establishment, with very restrictive voting rules. That 17% of the Republican hierarchy would support our views, after a full day of pro-war propaganda, is good news. Then we won the more open Maryland Republican straw poll with 28%. In both cases, as usual, hard-working, well-organized volunteers made all the difference.

The Fox debate was a lot of fun as well. It's true that a few of the network people are not exactly with us on foreign or domestic policy (though one famous guy whispered to me that he is a libertarian), but the audience-with lots of students from the University of New Hampshire-was definitely fair and balanced, as their enthusiastic reaction showed.

My opponents called for more war, more torture, more secret prisons, more eavesdropping, more presidential power. Some seemed to identify the government and the people as if they were one entity. But you and I know that once the government moves beyond its very limited constitutional mandate, it is an opponent of the people, a rip-off operation that takes our money and our freedom and our social peace, and gives us a mess of statist pottage in return.

The government failed miserably on 911 to protect us, despite spending trillions. So the answer was supposed to be the giant, socialist Department of Homeland Security, protecting you and me from taking our toothpaste on the airplane. I was ridiculed for saying that the airlines, which know best how to protect their property, should have been allowed to arm their pilots. But then, you and I really believe in the Second Amendment. It is not just a political slogan for us.

When I discussed the blowback that came from us intervening on the Arabian peninsula, Chris Wallace asked me if I wanted to follow the marching orders of al-Qaeda. I responded that I wanted to follow the marching orders of the Constitution, and not wage undeclared, aggressive wars that cause us only trouble. This is a mystifying to some, of course, but not to more and more Americans.

There was much talk of taxes, and a pledge not to raise rates. But as usual, I was not allowed to discuss my lifelong pledge to abolish the income tax. Just holding the line, when the government takes such vast sums through an illegitimate guilty-until-proven-innocent system, is hardly enough. We need to slash taxes and spending if we are to have a future of prosperity for ourselves and our families.

After the debate, many young people gathered around the stage to discuss our ideas and ask questions about them (and to have me sign their badges). My colleagues got no such response, and after a few moments, "security" ordered me off the stage. Can't have any such demonstration of interest in liberty.

But the young are with us, and so are Americans of every stripe. Even party officials. When one of my opponent said it was OK to lose elections through supporting the Iraq war, that set party people's teeth on edge, and rightly so. The Republican party is shrinking. We need new people. It's either our ideas or President Hillary, and more and more people recognize it.

But the media, and everyone else, will be looking at fundraising totals at the end of this month. They'll judge us by how we do. And we need help to wage what we hope will be a full-scale, 50-state campaign. Please help me head into the next quarter fully armed to do battle for freedom, peace and prosperity. Make your most generous contribution https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate/. This Revolution is on the move, but it very much needs your support.

Sincerely,

Ron

Quote:
Republicans Continue to Ignore People of Color

Univisión hosts the next Democratic presidential debate on Sunday, September 9 in Miami, but do not expect any live coverage from inside the debate from bloggers. Both sides -- Univisión and bloggers -- failed to do the necessary outreach to make it happen.

This is a real missed opportunity to build bridges between the Spanish-language media and los blogueros, especially for such a historic political event as a Spanish-language presidential debate. Spanish-speaking bloggers could have provided a real service with a unique perspective on a debate for non-Spanish-speaking blog readers and writers. Sadly, it appears neither side -- the media or Spanish-speaking bloggers -- had the foresight.

Beyond failures of both sides to reach out, the Latino community should take note of the starkly different approaches by the two major political parties and Spanish-language debates.

Democrats should be lauded for their efforts to reach out to the Latino community on this front. Contrast that with the fact that only Senator John McCain (R-Arizona) agreed to come to a Republican debate held by Univisión, causing the network to cancel it for a lack of interest. I applaud McCain for that. (And really, what does he have to lose? His campaign is virtually over.)

Something should be said, however, for the Republicans' refusal to show up at a Spanish-language debate. The candidates know that the nativist base would be up in arms if they actually went through with it. Remember last baseball season when right-wing conservative blogger, Michelle Malkin, went nuts because the Texas Rangers wore jerseys in Spanish? (And it was not just her, either.)

Yeah, it would be worse than that.

It is obvious that The Republican Party's base has moved so far to the right on immigration, Latino issues, and race-related issues, in general, that the candidates cannot be bothered for a few hours of their time to spend. For all their talk about the GOP's "big tent," Republicans conspicuously spend so little time on black, Latino, Asian, etc., issues unless to demonize them as red meat for the base.

This primary season, the Republican candidates have routinely ignored persons of color.

They'll Talk To Anyone... Just Not Hispanics, African Americans, Teachers or Young People

Only One Republican Candidate to Address NAACP. The NAACP is holding its annual convention Thursday morning in Detroit. Though all Republican candidates were invited over two months ago, only Tancredo might attend. Giuliani, Romney, McCain and Huckabee all cited scheduling conflicts. Giuliani will be in Michigan that day, and Romney has no public events scheduled. All eight Democratic presidential candidates have accepted invitations to speak. [Detroit Free Press, 7/10/07]

Only One Republican Addressed NALEO. "The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials invited all Republican presidential hopefuls to its annual convention at Disney World at Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Only one showed up -- Rep. Duncan Hunter, of California.... On Saturday, seven Democratic presidential candidates were slated to attend a forum at the NALEO conference, including Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, Barack Obama of Illinois, Christopher Dodd of Connecticut, Joseph Biden of Delaware, former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, and Rep. Dennis Kucinich of Ohio."

Fox News has attempted to publicly discredit Ron Paul many times. This past Republican debate they stepped over the line.
Charges:
1. They intentionally misquoted Ron Paul regarding his statement about guns on planes.
2. They intentionally tried to discredit him by asking him if he takes his marching orders from Al queda.
3. They intentionally tried to discredit him by saying the text messaging results that showed him the clear winner of the debate were being rigged by viewers who were dialing multiple times. The Text message system was designed to only allow one vote per cell phone.
4. They intentionally tried to discredit him by showing a computer readout that shows audience response. This is a method akin to a lie detector, it is completely unreliable and only gauges noise.
