So his good eye might not even work after the surgery has healed?

And what about the bad eye? I thought he would be perfectly normal again after the surgeries?

Thoughts and prayers to Brandon for a speedy and full recovery.

I never look at the sticked threads so I hadn't seen this, glad I finally saw it...

Here are better pictures and a better explanation...

Quote:
He had his first surgery Monday, 24th. Nothing went wrong and he had these things done.

-- vitrectomy
-- 1,000 laser burns
-- scar tissue removal

He was put under for tjree minutes for a numbing injection and was awake for the full hour of surgery.

Here are a few pics we took with my Razr.

He has another surgery in a couple of weeks and it will be everything he did with this eye but also a re-attachment of the retina, which is very hard to go through.

The doctor said he hopes that Brandon regains some vision in both eyes, but can't guarantee us anything, not even guarantee that it won't worsen them.

If you wanted to know how he's doing he's hurting pretty bad. He's been in bed most of the day since then, and there are stitches in his eye that keep bothering him when he blinks or keeps it open or closed for too long so he has to move it sometimes no matter what. The blood you see is his eye filled with it but it is supposed to clear up.

Right now he has pain pills but he can't take anything because it runs his blood sugars up. He has to keep his eyes dialated all day long and has four different drops to put in his eyes every four hours until his next appointment on Tuesday for a checkup.

Well...

First of all, thanks for the mass amount of support. Quite frankly, I'm shocked because I left CL for a couple of reasons, one of which being that I was not accepted here as an NBA fan first (Lakers fan second).

I think everyone can agree with that. Every post I made after a while was chopped and diced because of it.

My eyes are still in bad shape. However, the one detached retina...I can see a tiny bit out of it and have been able to for the last few days now. Very weird. I have to blow the text up three times its size in the browser, but whatever works, right?

My surgery went well, but it's been two weeks with no change. The pain absolutely SUCKS. I have stitches in the front of my eye, so it's been hell trying to sleep or even blink. My second surgery, the other eye, has yet to be scheduled...gotta get the other healed up first...so it's like I'm standing in line here.

John, I was in OKC at the Dean McGee center, 10th and Lincoln (down from the capitol building). Just in case you were curious. man11

So...yeah, about three years ago, during our 34-win season, I told everyone that the next time the Jayhawks win it all, the Lakers will follow that same year. Keep that in mind. jam2

Had a TON of PM's. No, I'm not going to be posting here, guys. It's best that I don't. And...yes, I know where Sky is, and I talked to him before I left (he was still here). And finally, yes...I think we're going to win it all with Gasol and that Kobe's whining was a blessing in disguise.

BDG, see about upgrading to phpBB3. There are two new exploits with this one that are nearly impossible to do, but can be done nonetheless. Plus, phpBB3 is a HUGE step ahead of any other version, knowing this since I've already worked with it.

Again guys, thanks for the support. GO KANSAS, GO LAKERS, and GO DEAN MCGEE EYE SURGERY CENTER! If you guys need anything, I'm not hard to find.

Glad to see you getting better Real. Good enough to be able to do some things on your own.

Here to a successful and speedy recovery on the other eye. jam2

Glad to hear you're doing at least a tiny bit better, at least that's what I got from it. Good luck with the rest of the surgeries.

That's about 10 minutes from my work. Next time you have surgery, if it's at the same place, shoot me a PM and I'll stop by. I've got a post surgery / get well Laker gift that will have you seeing 20/20 in no time.

My diabetes. I've got severe, proliferative diabetic retinopathy.

Most of the time, you get it by not taking care of your blood sugars, but in my case, it didn't matter how good I took care of myself...it just hit me, skipped the early stages and went straight to severe.

What's the best your vision can ever be? How much percent of what you used to be?

You're a warrior dude, I think CL needs to get together and write to the Lakers or someone to get your playoff tix jam2
