|
|
ClubLakers Members,
Would you like to host your own Lakers podcast? If you answered yes, look no further.
ClubLakers is looking to revive our popular podcast The CL Feed!
Unfortunately our previous host bhatta doesn't have time to run The Feed anymore. As a result, we're looking for a new member to fill those big shoes of his.
We're holding "auditions" right now on finding a host.
If you've never heard the podcast before, check out our Feed forum, listen to the archived episodes and take notes at what we're looking for.
If you're interested in applying for this position please follow the instructions below.
1) Make sure you are committed to this. The importance of this can't be stated enough. We're looking for someone that is able to deliver an entertaining show once every two to three weeks. Preferably two.
2) PM me (BDG) with a (roughly) 60 second audio clip (mp3) of you discussing ONE of the following three topics.
- What will the Lakers need to address defensively to become championship contenders?
- Looking ahead, what should the Lakers' primary goals be this offseason? Which free agents do they keep? Who do they pursue (if any)?
- Evaluate Phil Jackson's coaching job this season. What is he doing right? What is he doing wrong?
What are we looking for?
a) A "radio-friendly" voice.
b) Consistency. As stated above. Be sure your schedule allows you to host regularly.
c) Someone with a great knowledge of the Lakers and basketball in general.
d) Someone who can conduct interviews or generate strong verbal hoops conversation.
e) Someone who can deliver an entertaining program. Something listeners would find interesting.
f) Someone skilled in basic audio editing / uploading. *
* Note: You can work with another member to help with with this area if you are unable to do so yourself. However, you must identify your "co-worker's" username in advance in your audition message.
There may be some coordinating with myself or other staff members at the beginning, but your creative freedom is encouraged here.
A large part of The CL Feed is to try to get this to be as interactive as possible, whether that be through member-response in the forums or voice recorded messages sent via e-mail. A recurring segment that involves this is highly recommended.
If you have any questions/comments about the revival of The CL Feed, please feel free to ask.
PM ALL YOUR SUBMISSIONS TO ME (BDG). INCLUDE "CL FEED AUDITION" IN THE SUBJECT LINE.
We will contact the winner within the coming weeks and announce the results here in Lakers discussion.
Good luck!

Is this something I can put on my resume or anything? _________________

I don't think we can tell you what you can or can't put on your resume.
It will be a consistent podcast you're hosting & possibly have a hand in producing, so I don't see why not. Although I recommend doing it if you're passionate about it aside from resume concerns. _________________

Awesome. Another thing,
Say I have a crappy mic, and I did my tryout with that does it lower my chances? Even if I promise to buy a better mic if I were to make it?
And 60 seconds seems kinda short, I wanted to do a couple things that I don't think I could fit in 60 seconds, if I feel it'll really help my tryout can I go a little over? _________________

Sure you can go over that 60-second limit.
I just kept the number kinda short so it wouldn't be a deterrent for people to apply.
And the crappy mic doesn't really matter much for the audition, although it would definitely help if we're working with a decent one for the podcast itself. _________________

By the way, there's no set time limit on when you can apply for this position ... once we get a good number of applicants, it's really going to come down to who we feel comfortable with hosting the show.
Good luck. _________________

Me being great at the Spanish language read that as The for The? Nah, I agree with Punk, he'd be a great choice. _________________

Haha, appreciated Punk, but public speaking and me do not mix and I'm pretty inept when it comes to making videos and sound bites etc. _________________

No set deadline for this, but obviously the sooner the better ... if you're thinking of applying I wouldn't rush, but I wouldn't wait too long either. _________________

I don't know, I charge a lot. I would also need hair dressers, makeup artists, and an assistant supplied to me, expenses paid.
Then and only then will I think about it....
