I have a different prediction.
Kobe Bryant is a vindictive mofo. He's heard all the media excusing Laker wins as "hand delivered by refs, courtesy the NBA." He's heard Sloan whine and moan about not getting the calls. He's heard both some of the Jazz (Okur, Boozer) and their fans whine and moan about getting shafted. He saw the blowup doll, was pissed then and ready to steal game 4, but the back pulled out and he temporarily lost control of his own destiny.
Now, he's had just enough time for the back to feel better... better than it did for Game 5, he's pissed, and he's about to take it out on Utah. Furthermore, the rest of the team has heard the talk, they've had enough of it as well, and they're out for blood.
This may be basketball life or death for Utah, but the Lakers are out looking to administer a beating.
Game 6 = Laker Win! _________________ B. Diddy on Drew: "That boy's gonna be a beast.'' |

Do you guys read?

| Prediction:...If we limit our turnovers and play more physical on defense, we'll keep it close, and then it'll be anyone's game at the end. I just think Utah will pull it out at home as they always do. Though I hope I'm wrong, I expect a Game 7 on Monday guys. |
My full prediction didn't necessarily say the Lakers are for sure going to lose, but I certainly didn't say that the Lakers can't handle the Jazz in Utah. Could they in games 3 and 4? No. So by what other track record do you want me to go by? We all know EnergySolutions Arena is a very tough venue to win in. The Lakers have to come prepared to handle physical, aggressive, and harsh adversity from both the fans and the Jazz. If they can do that, and limit their turnovers/box out, the game should be close at the end and than we have the best closer in the game who'll do what he does best. Though I would love for the Lakers to close it out tonight, and I know that it's possible, to be it just seems unlikely. Hope I'm wrong. _________________ I drank a fifth of vodka, dare me to drive?

I hated Danny Crawford before that. He's one guy, who NEVER gives Kobe any calls. Has T'd him up plenty for complaining too. God, I hope it's Joey C. |
It is Joey, trust me.
I don't agree with you guys on the whole "I hate Danny Crawford" premise. He was our official in Game 3 in Denver and in Game 2 in LA. We won both games. He made unbiased and fair calls both ways in both games, I watched. Sure, he's had a few lapses (@ CLE, vs WASH) but is that enough to fuel out of this? I don't think so. _________________ I drank a fifth of vodka, dare me to drive?

All t hat said, the Lakers were a good road team, I give them a chance to pull it out as long as the refs keep it honest. |

amazingly on point analysis, great job man
bad prediction but im sure youre happy about that
good call on Crawford not being affected by the crowd, if anything he seems to want to quiet them by really showing the crowd with his gestures when Jazz shots didn't count |

JC was awesome tonight
I felt they kindve helped the Jazz back into it late, but it wasn't egregious, and we certainly helped them also
lmfao @ the "ref u suck" chants. You just can't find.a dumber crowd than utah
And late in the third I think it was like okur who traveled. Joey crawford gave the funniest most enthusiastic skipping travel call. He covered like 20 feet in 3 skips.
If anyone can gif or youtube that it would be epiccc |

Thanks, and of course I'm happy I was wrong.
Joey is my favorite official in the league, I declared that right after he called a block on Kobe's dunk on Nash in 06. _________________ I drank a fifth of vodka, dare me to drive?

| It was a great analysis and it was pretty accurate. The prediction was wrong but it did end up being close anyway. Would have been difficult to say the Lakers would win. The 20-1 stat was intimidating, and Utah's home record was as well. Good stuff. |

Just wanted to come in here to give Juan some props. You hit it right on the money with the officials. Best officiated game of the series.
Please keep updating this thread if you can -- it's pretty interesting if nothing else.
I'm glad you were wrong about the outcome though. _________________

Thanks Juano. This is much appreciated, truly is. If you could continue to do this for every game, that'd be excellent. & oh yeah, of course like BDG said, glad your prediction was wrong.

Officials for Game 1 vs. SA: Dan Crawford, Jim Clark, Bob Delaney

Breakdown: Expect a well officiated game, guys. The Lakers might even be cut some slack as well, for two refs who lean towards the "homer" category are officiating the game (Clark and Delaney). Dan Crawford has officiated two games for us in the the 2008 playoffs, one in LA and one in Denver. We won both games. Both Delaney and Clark have each officiated one game in Staples for us, and both were wins. So, under this crew, we're 4-0 in the playoffs. Is that saying much? Well at least it says something. Jim Clark finished #7 in homer statistics over the regular season, Delaney #25, and Crawford #46. However, I rest by my assertion that both Delaney (despite what you all think) and Clark tend to favor the home team over the road team - in most cases. Clark finished #13 in O/U statistics, Delaney #14 and Crawford #37. So it's clear that these refs don't "fix" games. While Crawford has given his share of porous called games for the Lakers both in LA and on the road, he's also given us a handful of properly called games (one of my favorite refs in the league - unbiased and almost always correct). Delaney and Clark will just be the icing to the cake.
Prediction: Lakers win a close game, and the referees are an added boost. San Antonio is fresh off a huge win in NO, and despite unfortunate sleeping arrangements, they'll be headed to LA looking to rip our heads off. Not only for sweet revenge from '04, but also because of the Pau trade (irritated Pop) and the whole prestige surrounding Kobe's MVP season. The Spurs are just the team to take all that away from us, for they are the defending champs. If the Lakers adjust to the way the game is called and are able to outmatch San Antonio's aggressiveness, rebounding, and defense - we should be fine. Not going to easy, but it is very doable. _________________ I drank a fifth of vodka, dare me to drive?

Thanks, Juano. Much appreciated.
I hope the refs don't become as much of a factor as they were in the second round. (Unless we're losing of course! ). _________________
