Odom for Hinrich and Nocioni, we need a true SF which nocioni is. He hits the 3 plays with energy and is kinda tough. But i have no idea if his D is any good. anyone know? Plus we get Hinrich, he probably had a bad year last year but he's a good shooter and plays good D. He's also a tall pg which Phil likes, I think Fish is getting to old and Farmar is to cocky and thinks he's better then he really is.Our teams looks balanced

Hinrich
Kobe
Noc
Pau
Bynum

Most Bulls fans like this deal simply because they get rid of salary. The Lakers would be a complete team all around.

I still think that this is one of the best trade ideas all around. I would do it if they were able to take on Walton.

i say

lamar+vlad+mihm for hinrich+nocioni+drew gooden

we take on more defensive minded, tough minded guys who can shoot very well and a back-up big man who is a beast on the boards

they shave 17 million in salary and get a shooter whose contract isn't that bad

no way anyone takes luke he has 5 years left no way anyone touches that

Nocioni is over-rated. I honestly don't think he has the quickness to be a starter at SF. In fact, Odom is quicker and faster than Nocioni, so how is that a defensive upgrade? Heinrich would be nice, but honestly, the Lakers aren't goin to pay him 11 mil a year, in addition to the 20 mil they pay Kobe, the 14-ish mil they pay Gasol and then the big money they're going to pay Bynum.

I suspect the Lakers would ultimately look to re-sign LO for somewhere between 8-9 mil, or if that simply wasn't working, bring in a SF at about that price. But to think they'll pay Nocioni and Heinrich, in addition to the others, is not realistic. That's just too much money - especially when you have Ariza who might well become that starting SF we need. In fact, prior to his injury, Phil specifically said that Ariza could be a starter at SF for this team. I'd imagine they'll want to see what we have first before making any such expensive decisions.

I tend to think that you're actually close to correct, but just off target on each part.

Nocioni isn't overly quick but he has the quickness and the tenacity to overall be about as good as Odom on defense. Hinrich's 10m contract goes down each year and is just about what Odom's would be over the long run.

The best plan that I've devised is to trade Odom to Cleveland, receive two pieces of value likely Hickson and a future first round pick. Next utilizing Mihm and one of these expirings (Snow), as well as that future first round pick (2010 or so), Charlotte's next year first try to acquire Hinrich. At worst we include Farmar in the expirings but I prefer not to for obvious reasons.

We allow one of those expirings (Damon Jones to expire) and we've also lost some salary in the exchange with Cleveland and by trading away Mihm. All in all the Lakers basically have this now:

PG- Hinrich, Farmar, Fisher
SG- Bryant, Karl, Crawford
SF- Ariza, Walton
PF- Gasol, Hickson, Radmanovic
C- Bynum, Turiaf, Mbenga

Now I can see a weakness in only one position the SF starting spot and a bench weakness the SG spot. Now you have a great SG backup against small SGs in Hinrich but you still need a guy to start at SF as well as SG. Ariza could handle it but I prefer getting a solid veteran to start, then adding a SF next year in the draft to help. The best guy I could come up with could be Michael Finley who overall would be very effective at the SF spot in combo with Ariza. A three man rotation between Kobe, Ariza, and Finley would be extremely good for the Laker's rotation offensively and defensively. Finley has some exceptional defensive averages and plays very good team D.

I've thought about that trade so many times over the past couple weeks... I just really don't think it's going to happen. For one, there's salaries. We're taking on even MORE salary in exchange for an expiring one. Plus, any time you look at the resulting line up and see that 2/5 of the starting lineup has changed, I'd say that makes it more doubtful that the FO feels that is a good idea. Remember... 2 wins away from a banner. 2. wins.

If it were one or the other (hinrich/nocioni) joining our starting lineup, I'd consider it more likely to happen, but then we'd be making a trade just to trade, because there'd half to be a lot going into the trade to make the salaries match up, and every time I've studied the bull's salaries/roster, I can't think of a way to make it happen that makes sense for both teams.

I think our best option is waiting to see if Artest opts out. If he won't do the MLE (which I don't expect to happen), hope that Sac will like the idea of sign+trade Artest and throw in Hawes (for salary reasons) for Odom. I'm also not conviced that's going to happen, but at this point I think it's more likely to be agreed upon by all involved than any trade with the bulls.
