Yup he did what a good strategist would do. Every team is going to abuse the Lakers in the same way UNLESS Phil figures out what to do. He's so lost out there, it's pathetic for a HOF coach. He should just retire now, he's embarrassing himself. |

as a matter of fact, our problem isn't even talent. it's coaching. take Parker and Duncan out of that game and the Spurs still win. _________________

for the last three years I've been telling myself that Phil just knows what we don't know, or he's just experimenting with that or this... or that Cook must have made every shot in practice last night, etc.
now, you know what, I'm going to say it. in my opinion Phil is a horrible coach. I could go on for hours with what he did what in that game... _________________

Very dissapointing loss. First a few things that couldve kept this close all game long.
First- Those horrible To's that were just because of wanting to go to fast.
Second- Why are you leaving three point shooters open from three, when tony drives in he has almost no way to get the shot up?
third- The lakers failed to get lamar in the post when he only had Ginobli and Finley. That was the most angry part of the game. That the lakers couldnt exploit that matchup when Lamar clearly had the position and advantage. When you have a 6'10 ballhandling, inside guy, slasher, you should be using him to your full advantage. |
yeah about leaving the outside shooters open.. if i'm not mistaken.. isn't that what we did with New Orleans? Didn't we learn anything? |
yep. as i just posted, we are starting to give up from 45%-50% from the 3-pt. line every night. the average for the last 3 games is 47%. that's insane. _________________

Don't know if I'd go that far, he was pretty good when we were winning wasn't he? I remember he was a 'genius' against Phoenix and Utah. |
I never considered him genius, I was pissed at how he picked crap players. Face it our offense were only good cuz Phx and Utah defense sucks. ANd when we face decent defense it sucks, and you put and give ball to players who can't create their own shot attack greate defense its not going to work. We barely used lamar tnoight. Kept the ball away from kobe for a while casing him to shoot more difficult shots thats not with in the flow of the offense. PJ pretended to be like a coach and called usless times outs in 1st and 2 nd Q and giving up in 2nd half. Face it we have inconsistent talent and 0 iq players. |

It wasn't that Tony Parker is a great player, it was the way they played the game. pick and roll, drive and dish... cut and screen, strong defense... any team could have done that to us. I'm impressed, Pop is a hell of a Coach. his gameplan is what got his team so many wide open shots. I dislike the Spurs so much... I hate seeing them win. but i'll admit it, and i've known it for a long time, Pop is bar non the best Coach in the NBA. _________________

In all fairness the Spurs are VERY tough to beat at home, if we had been playing anywhere near perfect it still would have been a tough game to win. I just can't believe how wide open the shooters were again tonight. You have to know SA has a TON of 3 pt specialists. I'd much rather let TP torch us for 30 than have 5 other Spurs in double digits. You have to stick one man on TP and stop helping and collapsing. Let TP score 50 pts, it doesn't matter. Just guard those shooters like crazy.
Our problem is the ridiculous amount of turnovers we seem to make. I know it's early in the season, but if this doesn't get corrected soon it's gonna be another .500 season for us. |

No the talent is here this season, I don't question that. We have inconsistent strategy and piss-poor rotations. |

he kills everyone not named devin harris, who is pretty much the only pg that can keep up with him. even then, he can still drop 20 on any given night. |

It was a bad loss to the best team on the planet. The good thing is that for 3 quarters we were mostly in the game, it just got away really quickly in the 2nd and we never recovered.
I don't mind losing to SA @ home. That's perhaps one of the toughest games we will have all year. We need to string some wins together though otherwise this ship will start sinking fast. |

The Lakers were called for 9 travelling violations, 7 in the first half alone!!!!!! 5 of them by Lamar Odom on spin moves and shots on the pivot
what the hell was that
why couldn't they make the same damn calls against Tony Parker when he ventures into the lane???
they let Ginobilli get away with an extra hop every time he got cut off into the lane and got double teamed and that extra hop let him find Bowen enough times on 3 point line who went 6 for 6 from the 3 point line
it was disgusting to watch him get away with one discontinued dribble after another, getting his hand under the ball and then continuing his dribble again from the perimeter
It was sickening to watch Fabricio Oberto get away with one moving screen after another to shut off Fisher and let Tony Parker get open looks
most of Parker's shots tonight came on spin moves and hop steps into the lane....the same damn moves Odom, Walton and a couple other lakers were called travelling for
The Lakers remained competitive and even were tied at like near the 5 minute mark of the 2nd quarter and from then on out and it was nothing but the refs handing one call after another in favor of spurs |

How about this: if you said that LA would turn it over 15 times in the first half and San Antonio would hit 13 threes, and I asked you how much you thought LA lost by, you're surely say AT LEAST 15. Right?
Okay, that doesn't make me feel any better. _________________

yeah sorry
'he' referring to parker
didn't know about washington (good prospect though from memphis i think; definitely left too early)
didn't/can't see the game - saw parker's 26 and know he torched us, which i assumed you were referring to
it's a shame we didn't capitalize on duncan scoring only 5 pts |

here come another barrage of Kobe trade threads. _________________ There are so many emotions at the end of the season, nobody likes to talk about it.
