Quote:
The Hartford Courant: Williams' stock is rising and he'll have a chance today to further cement his draft position when he works out for several NBA teams in Carson Calif.

Williams' father, Kelly, said the Knicks' Isiah Thomas will be among those watching him today.

"Some of the teams can't send anybody to the workout because they're still in the playoffs," Kelly Williams said. "A lot of established teams are trying to move up to get him. Larry Bird [Indiana Pacers] loves him. Miami likes him. The Lakers like him, but they just don't have the pieces to move up.

I think they could reword the sentence about the Lakers to Phil Jackson like him, but the Lakers just don't have the pieces to move up. This is definitely a type player who Phil would be wanting the Lakers to draft, if they could. He'd be very good in the triangle. He's a left handed Deron Williams.

JSM, or anyone, who is sent by the Lakers to watch workouts like this? Is it an assistant coach, Mitch, or a group?

More than likely it would be Rudy or one of our other scouts. Mitch doesn't attend too much stuff, other than the draft camps.

Interesting. I wonder what Phil thinks of Rudy scouting for a triangle player...

I'm sure Phil made the suggestion to give the guy a look. Or more generally, told Mitch or the scouts to look a triangle friendly guards.

Damn, we should trade Mihm + 1st round pick for higher draft pick.
Then we could select Williams or Ronnie Brewer.

I just don't think trading Mihm would be a good option to move up in any spot in this draft, not really because of Chris' talent level, but his value as a trade piece in the summer. He could be that one piece to help us land Boozer.

At this point, I'd take any point guard who can play D and has a "pass first" chip embedded in his head. Kyle Lowry? I also like the idea of keeping Smush Parker to come off the bench. The guy can score and finish better than Fisher could have. That would be a vital asset to this squad next year, not to mention add a little more to this weak bench.

OK, then we could trade George instead of Mihm.

But I think we can trade rights to George + 1st round pick for higher draft pick.
I think NBA players contracts ends in 30th June or something like that so we can trade George...

Love him. I would really like to trade guys like Walton or Gump (resigned) or something to get him. We need a pick around 10-15 and his stock is rising

You can't trade a player in the last year of their deal after the trade deadline.

Trade:

Chris Mihm
Brian Cook
Aaron McKie
#26 Pick

FOR

PJ Brown
#12 Overall

Expiring contracts, solid big for a very good shooter to put at PF, and we can try to nab Williams.

that would be nice for the lakers but why on this planet would the hornets do that deal pj brown is light years better than cook and mckie if you take mihm out. he also plays defense plus he is a legitimate starting PF not to mention the salaries would not match. mihm would have to be included but even then i don't think NO would want to part with their 12th pick for the lakers 26th pick but it is close. if you add some incentive, cash or a 2nd rounder it might be closer.

L.A. Lakers Trade Breakdown
Outgoing: 26th overall pick

Brian Cook
6-9 PF from Illinois
7.9 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.9 apg in 18.9 minutes

Aaron McKie
6-5 SG from Temple
0.5 ppg, 1.4 rpg, 0.8 apg in 8.6 minutes

Chris Mihm
7-0 C from Texas
10.2 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 1.0 apg in 26.2 minutes

Incoming

12th overall pick

P.J. Brown
6-11 PF from Louisiana Tech
9.0 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 1.2 apg in 31.8 minutes
Change in team outlook: -9.6 ppg, -3.8 rpg, and -1.5 apg.

New Orleans Trade Breakdown
Outgoing

P.J. Brown
6-11 PF from Louisiana Tech
9.0 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 1.2 apg in 31.8 minutes

Incoming

26th overall pick

Brian Cook
6-9 PF from Illinois
7.9 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.9 apg in 18.9 minutes

Aaron McKie
6-5 SG from Temple
0.5 ppg, 1.4 rpg, 0.8 apg in 8.6 minutes

Chris Mihm
7-0 C from Texas
10.2 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 1.0 apg in 26.2 minutes
Change in team outlook: +9.6 ppg, +3.8 rpg, and +1.5 apg.

Successful Scenario
Due to L.A. Lakers and New Orleans being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. L.A. Lakers and New Orleans had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Trade ID
Every trade made by fans is allocated a unique Trade ID which you can share with friends and fellow basketball fans to allow them to see your trade scenario. The Trade ID for this scenario is 3083847.

I would jump on this trade in a heart beat. draft marcus williams or brewer and we are set at all positions and still have the mle next season... mitch would be the next gm prodigy

I don't really know if trading Mihm for any lottery pick in this draft is a good idea... I don't think any of these players exceot maybe Gay will ever be better than Mihm. This looks like the worst draft since the one Damon Stoudamire came out of. Prepare for 2007 though when Oden comes out. Trade Mihm for any lottery pick there.

That would be a nice trade because I think PJ Brown is the type of power forward that Phil would like in the triangle. I think they wanted him a few years ago, but it was probably impossible to get him.

N.O. would only do the deal because PJ Brown is getting old and obviously the expiring contracts. They seem to have a fast paced team with C.Paul running the show, so maybe they could be looking for a power forward with more youth and running ability.
