Just a quick word about Fey and Bynum. Actually more of an observation. It's interesting to sit courtside and watch Fey and Bynum sub for each other and play on the offensive end. Let's get one thing out of the way: Fey has no game and will be fortunate to earn playing time on a Euro team.

However, it's eye-opening to watch the difference of how Fey and Bynum play the position on the floor. As bad as he is with the ball in his hands, it's apparent Fey has played tons of minutes at the 5 and has had the benefit of good high school and college coaching. Offensively, as he moves across the lane, rolling off his defender, screens, giving the ball handler a target at the proper moment, rotating toward the ball, timing, rhythm, etc., he plays the center position fundamentally correct. Granted, that's about all Fey does, but the contrast is interesting and shows how much AB still has to learn.

Bynum played his junior highschool season. then he was injured for his senior year before he came to the NBA. He needs minutes ON THE FLOOR.

Yep, it's all about that, isn't it. Fey can't do anything with ball-in-hand, but it's so apparent that he's had the benefit of much more floor time.

Yeah, Fey was a senior and he never had any draft stock. He wasn't liked very much by UCLA fans, but I guess 4 years in college would give you those fundamentals.

Right. He's had very limited skills, but the word was that he was quite bright, hence the good fundamentals. Lavin had said Fey's smarts impressed him out of high school. He's got the center position down to textbook quality. It's just too bad he doesn't have the skills or athleticism to go with it. He'll probably earn a living playing ball for awhile somewhere. But I do think there are good things Bynum can learn from watching and playing a bit against him in practice.

Come to think of it, perhaps that's one of the reasons they brought Fey on-board, who knows.
