I wouldnt say he's overrated. But I would say that the Philly coaching has been underrated somewhat.

Plus their defense is so quick and aggressive.. which always helps.

But Jeff Garcia has been a solid QB his entire career, too. It's not like it's Ryan Leaf in there lighting it up. It's a guy who has had back-to-back 30 TD seasons.

Yeah. Jeff Garcia thrives in a west coast offense. If you watched the Eagles in the beginning they were in a slump, but then McNabb went down. Everyone had to step up, and that's exactly what happened. It's great we have a solid backup in Jeff Garcia, but everyone on the team stepped up. We trusted the run a lot more than year's past, and these past two weeks our defense has picked it up, especially against the run..

Gotta disagree. McNabb is a top 5 QB when healthy. He has an accurate and strong arm. He does a good job of not scrambling unless he absolutely has to, but that's probably an area of his game that will be non-existent coming off of yet another leg injury.

As stated in the above posts, Jeff Garcia is simply a solid QB who's skills are perfect for the offensive system in Philly. He's doing a great job, but it shouldn't diminish what McNabb means to this team.

NFC Playoff Picture and Scenarios

There's only one game left in the regular season. Here's how it all breaks down, seed by seed...

1.) Chicago Bears. They clinched the NFC North and home field advantage throughout the playoffs a week ago. According to Dick Stockton, they did this "for the first time ever!" Clearly, memory is the first thing to go...

2.) New Orleans Saints. They clinched the NFC South and a first round-bye, as they have wins over both the Eagles and Cowboys. So they're pretty much locked into this position...

3.) Philadelphia Eagles. They're in the playoffs, but they still need either a win or a Cowboys loss to clinch the NFC East title and open the playoffs at home...

4.) Seattle Seahawks. They clinched the NFC West title, but their lousy record pretty much leaves them stuck with the fourth seed. Ah, the spoils of the one-eyed man in the kingdom of the blind...

5.) Dallas Cowboys. Their playoff berth is assured, as they have a two-game lead over everyone else with one left. In order to host their playoff opener, though, they need a win and an Eagles loss. Otherwise, they travel to Seattle for the first round...

6.) New York Giants. Believe it or not, the 7-8 Giants are still pretty much in control of their own destiny. If they win, they will likely get into the playoffs. They clinch a playoff spot with a win and a Green Bay loss. They also get in if all the other 7-8 teams -- Green Bay, Carolina, Atlanta and St. Louis -- lose their games, but they wouldn't feel very good about it.

7.) Green Bay Packers. Yes, Brett Favre gets one more shot at the playoffs with A.) a Packers win, a Giants loss and St. Louis loss, or B.) a Packers win, a Giants loss and either a Panthers win or a Falcons win. However, if both the Giants and Packers win, then "Strength of Victory" (SOV) comes into play. SOV is figured by calculating the combined winning percentage of the opponents a team has beaten, and since Green Bay will have to beat Chicago, their SOV percentage would improve dramatically. However, Green Bay will still need help from other teams they have beaten -- Detroit, Arizona, Miami, Minnesota and San Francisco -- to claim that SOV tiebreaker, and that would require about seven or eight games falling just the right way. If that actually happened, it would be -- and I cannot emphasize this enough -- the biggest suck-out in pro football history. The Packers may still need the Rams to lose for this to work out, though...

7.) Carolina Panthers. They need to win and for New York and Green Bay to lose to make it in as the last Wild Card team -- not ideal, but not entirely hopeless. My fantasy team needed to win and for two other teams to lose to make my league's playoffs. That happened, and I shredded everyone in the playoffs and won the league title. So yes, it can be done...

8.) Atlanta Falcons. They need to win and for New York, Green Bay and Carolina to lose to make it in as the last Wild Card team...

9.) St. Louis Rams. They need to win and for New York, Carolina and Atlanta to lose to make it in as the last Wild Card team. If it comes down to St. Louis and Green Bay, St. Louis wins, because they beat the Packers earlier this year. Nobody in St. Louis is holding their breath for any of this. They're all much too busy celebrating the St. Louis Cardinals' World Series title...

There are other scenarios involving ties, but ties are highly unlikely in the NFL, so I'm not including them here.

THIS WEEK'S KEY GAMES:

1. New York Giants at Washington (Sat., 8:00 PM, NFLN): A Giants win here just about assures them of a playoff berth, but Washington has been playing well of late. Can the 'Skins play the spoiler?

2. Atlanta at Philadelphia (Sun., 1:00 PM, FOX): A win here means another game next week in Philadelphia. The way the Falcons are playing right now, that seems very possible.

3. Detroit at Dallas (Sun., 1:00 PM, FOX): And here's why Philadelphia can't slow down this week. Can't wait for that big Roy Williams on Roy Williams matchup.

4. Carolina at New Orleans (Sun., 1:00 PM, FOX): The Saints have the 2-seed wrapped up, so will they treat this as a tune-up for the playoffs, or will Sean Payton rest his starters and open a door for the Panthers?

5. Green Bay at Chicago (Sun., 8:15 PM, NBC): Yes, there is a scenario where both the Giants and Packers win and the Packers take the Wild Card spot. Will the Bears give them the satisfaction, or will Lovie Smith continue to play his starters and try to win to go into the playoffs on a high note? (UPDATE: NBC has decided that this one's big enough for Sunday night. Because every game could be Brett Favre's last, don't ya know...)

6. St. Louis at Minnesota (Sun., 1:00 PM, FOX): I have a feeling this one will ultimately be meaningless, but as long as the Rams have a shot, they'll try to finish with a win and hope for the best.

AFC Playoff Picture and Scenarios

TIEBREAKERS:

Indianapolis wins the tiebreaker over New England based on division record.
There's only one game left in the regular season. Here's how it all breaks down, seed by seed...

1.) San Diego Chargers. They clinched the AFC West title weeks ago and clinched a first-round bye with their last-minute victory in Seattle. They still need one more win or a Baltimore loss to clinch home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

2.) Baltimore Ravens. They clinched the AFC North title and can clinch a first-round bye with a win or a Colts loss. They need a win plus a San Diego loss to clinch home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

3.) Indianapolis Colts. They clinched the AFC South weeks ago, but their late-season swoon is starting early this year. In order to get a first-round bye, they need a win plus a Baltimore loss. (I'm so glad picked up Ron Dayne for my fantasy football championship game last week. That cash is going into my Wii fund...)

4.) New England Patriots. They clinched the AFC East last week, but they cannot get a first-round bye, because Baltimore is two games ahead in conference record with one game left. They can climb to the third seed with a win and an Indianapolis loss, but that's as far as they can go at this stage.

5.) Denver Broncos. They can clinch a Wild Card berth with a win or a Kansas City loss. If Denver loses and Kansas City wins, though, all bets are off, because Kansas City has a better division record than Denver, and if three teams finish 9-7, the NFL applies division tiebreakers first to eliminate teams. That would leave Denver on the outside looking in.

6.) New York Jets. Thanks to their Xmas night win in Miami, the Jets control their own destiny. All they have to do is win a home game against the Oakland Raiders, and they're in the playoffs. If the Jets lose, however, they can still get in if A.) the Bengals and Jaguars lose, or B.) the Broncos and Jaguars lose, or C.) the Bengals lose and the Titans wins.

7.) Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals need help, but they make it into the playoffs with A.) a win and a Jets loss, or B.) a win, a Broncos loss and a Chiefs win. Either way, though, the Bengals must win on Sunday. If they lose, they're done.
8.) Tennessee Titans. The Vince Young Show needs even more help to make the playoffs. Tennessee needs a win PLUS a Bengals loss, a Broncos loss and a Chiefs win over Jacksonville. That puts three teams at 9-7 for the last Wild Card spot, and since Kansas City eliminates Denver in the division tiebreaker, Tennessee would get in based on division record. A Jets loss won't help them, since the Jets beat the Titans earlier this year.

9.) Jacksonville Jaguars. Jacksonville loses a tiebreaker to Tennessee based on division record, so they get in with a win over Kansas City PLUS a Jets loss, a Bengals loss and Titans loss. Plus, if the Jags win, Denver clinches one Wild Card spot based on conference record, so the Jags really need those other three games to go their way.

10.) Kansas City Chiefs. If Kansas City beats Jacksonville and Denver loses, Kansas City wins the division tiebreaker. However, because of their poor record against other AFC teams, Kansas City ALSO needs a Bengals loss and a Titans loss. So both Jacksonville and Kansas City need to win AND for three other teams to lose.

There are other scenarios involving ties, but those are so unlikely that I'm not including them here. If I missed any scenarios, I'll update this post later in the week.

THIS WEEK'S KEY GAMES:

1. Arizona at San Diego (Sun., 4:15 PM, FOX): This could be the easiest path to the top seed any team has ever had. Matt Leinart is injured and won't play. LaDainian Tomlinson? Oh, yeah, he's in.

2. Buffalo at Baltimore (Sun., 1:00 PM, CBS): The Bills were eliminated last week. Do they still have enough left to throw a monkey wrench in Baltimore's bye hopes?

3. Miami at Indianapolis (Sun., 1:00 PM, CBS): The Dolphins' season ends here, but I'm pretty sure Ronnie Brown really wants to go out with a bang. Can the Colts run defense finally toughen up in time for the postseason?

4. New England at Tennessee (Sun. 1:00 PM, CBS): New England is in tune-up mode, but Vince Young & Co. are playing for their playoff lives. Will it be enough, or has the Titans' 0-5 start doomed them to wait until next year?

5. San Francisco at Denver (Sun., 4:15 PM, FOX): The 49ers were eliminated last week, so I'd take my chances with the team that controls its own destiny here.
6. Oakland at New York Jets (Sun., 1:00 PM, CBS): It sure looks like the Jets' easy schedule is about to pay some big dividends, doesn't it?

7. Pittsburgh at Cincinnati (Sun., 1:00 PM, CBS): Don't tell the Steelers that their season ends here. They will attempt to end the Bengals' season in Cincinnati once again. Watch your knees, Carson.

8. Jacksonville at Kansas City (Sun., 1:00 PM, CBS): This could end up being a consolation game. Jacksonville isn't so hot on the road, and the Chiefs are tough to beat at home. Can the Jags pull off the upset?

Thanks, GuRu. Sucks that Jacksonville probably won't have a shot. I'd love to see MJD in the playoffs.

Tom Coughlin's job is on the line tonight. We'll see the type of effort his players will give him.

in the NFC there is a chance that one of the division winners will be 8-8 in Seattle. I think when a conference is this weak combined with the fact that parity along with injuries can even any playing field. Now that the NFC championship goes threw Chicago conditions may have something to say about it as well.

not to mention you picked a bad year to say something like that when the 6th seeded wild card team in the AFC won it all last year as previously pointed out. When you have teams as strong as there is in the AFC the wild card teams are also dangerous. Are you telling me that Denver or possibly the Bengals coming to town don't at least peak your interest? if it doesn't as a head coach it will get your team beat in a hurry.

Wild Card Superbowl teams in the last 10 years.

Decent return if you ask me.

I think pride will be more of a factor than saving Coughlin from his destiny. The offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator are just buffers to the head coach, once they start getting fired the head coach is on notice. There are a lot of prideful players on the Giants. I'm glad that the inventors of the jump shot celebration are being humbled right now, they have a lot of talkers and show boaters on that team, as a division foe it certainly brings a tear to my eye what's happening now. A joyful tear that is.....................

Wow... in Tiki Barbers last career Season game, he has set the Giants Franchise Record for most Rushing yards in a game (Currently at 227yrds with 5 minutes to go in the 4th) and has scored 3 TD's all on big runs.

He also passed jim brown, by earning the most rushing yards in the last season before retirement.

Just amazing, what a way to end your career bow bow

Great game by tiki, but I couldnt help but notice how bad the redskins rush defense really was. There was huge holes and bad tackling.

--
what do you mean? you obviously didn't watch football in the late 80s and early 90s where you absolutely knew who the contenders were and who the pretenders were right from the start of the season. The only shot teams had vs the 49ers, Cowboys, Bills and Packers of the early 90s was if there were injuries. Todays game has shown more parity than ever before in this league, I think that makes the playing field prime for upsets.
Do you really think Chicago should just punch there ticket to the SuperBowl? how about SD do you not think NE, Baltimore, Ind, Denv might have something to say before it's all said and done. Would you bet the house that 1 of 2 or 3 teams is going to win it? I doubt it, I'd say about 8 of the 12 playoff teams have a realistic shot at winning it all this year. If that's the case than upsets are more than possible.

Contenders:

Favorites if you ask me today:

SD - most balanced team in the league
Bal - arguably the most talent on defense in NFL
Chi -arguably the best defense, guaranteed best special teams
NO - Best QB in football right now and an explosive offense

Shot but it will take a few upsets and favorable schematic match ups

Philli - still not sure about them but they are playing there best football
at the right time.
Dallas - lots of talent on both sides of the ball, still very dangerous team
Den - If the young QB plays well do you want to see them
Indi - Peyton Manning and an explosive offense.

Others

Seattle - have they played a good game since last years SuperBowl?
Jets - nice cinderella story but this is for big dogs only
Giants - to banged up to be a serious threat

So it's the G-men versus the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. Should be a really good game. We have to keep our intensity at a high level and keep playing the same way. I can't wait.

That was pretty funny, kind of out there questions, "who's side are you on Letterman or Leno?". It never gave me a team to root for though, just kept cycling through pictures of NFL games, it's been like 5 mins and I'm still waiting.
