Today marks the one-year anniversary of Kobe Bryant's 81 points against the Raptors on 1/22/2006.

Sound off.

I remember I came home from school, and logged on to nba.com, and I had that strange feeling that something must be wrong, like Kobe got injured or Raptors just owned us badly. Then I saw that pic:

and I was like man4 man4
I was literally shaking.
great memories jam2 jam2 jam2

One of those weird days, like twice a year when I didn't watch SportsCenter nor check the internet in the morning. Then I get to school and my friend sees me around 2 pm and asks..."How bout Kobe?" My first thought was oh crap, he's traded or down with an injury for the season. Then he tells me he scored 81. I left class and headed to the computer lab to read up on it.

Mind you I'm in college in Utah so I couldn't see the game and no one told me about it during the day cuz Jazz fans are haters.

Downloading it for my ipod right now though...first time I'll get to see the whole thing. Thanks to Lakersfan722 you're the man!

I usually miss half of the Lakers games played the past few seasons because I moved to Canada, but fortunantly that night they were playing the Toronto Raptors and it was nationally televised here. I was in awe that entire second half. Kobe made me believe that not only is he good, but his game is at a level only the elite have ever tasted. Just for fun i'm gonna watch 81 again today jam2

It's still unreal to me. Watching it unfold was just beyond me. I remember I had a pounding headache after the game from too much excitment, screaming, and jumping. It was unbelievable. bow

Man time flys. It seems like yesterday i was getting home from school and tuning in at about 3 quarter time. I think i saw in the box score 54 points at the end of 3. That was a great feeling, i think i was standing up for the remainder of the game. Such a great day. bow

I feel very lucky about being a witness to such greatness. Also my favourite player is the one who scored 81 points which had been topped just once in 60 years. Incredible. Thx for THIS special memory Kobe! jam2 jam2

One of the greatest games I ever watched. And one of the best things or crazy things about it, was that it came out of an absolutely horrible game which made it even better. Getting blown out by the Raptors was embarassing and hard to watch, but I refused to give up and change the channel and Kobe brought us back singlehandedly. If Kobe would have just went for 81 in a blowout from the begining it would have been awesome, but the way he did it made it even more memorable.
