Something VERY PIPE I just thought up.

Lakers re-sign Shammond Williams, Aaron McKie, and Luke Walton.
Lakers cut Smush Parker and Chris Mihm.

Lakers Get: Jermaine O'neal
Pacers Get: Kwame Brown, S&T Luke Walton, Vladimir Radmanovic

Lakers Get: Charlie Villanueva, S&T Reuben Patterson
Bucks Get: Andrew Bynum, S&T Aaron McKie, Bobcats 2nd rd pick

Lakers draft Tiago Splitter and Quinton Hosley.

Lakers split MLE between Jason Hart and Melvin Ely.

PG - Farmar/Hart/Williams
SG - Bryant/Evans/Vujaic
SF - Odom/Patterson/Hosley
PF - Villanueva/Turiaf/Cook
C - O'neal/Ely/Splitter

The reason for Villanueva is that Villanueva spreads the floor for when Kobe and Odom penetrates and for when O'neal posts up. Patterson is our poor-man's Ron Artest and will be our 6th man. See what a player like Andrew Bynum can potentially get us? Good, quality starters.

We're balanced offensively and defensively. CHAMPIONSHIP!

What do yous think about this offseason? It seems realistic to me and would make us contenders next year I would think.

1.Sign Charlie Bell for full MLE
Reason:Solid PG, excellent underrated def and good 3-point shooter.

2.Trade Kwame and 1st round (2007) to SAC. for Ron Artest.
Reason:If the Kings are looking to rebuild they will probably ship out Miller and Bibby. Even if they don't an expiring contract is tempting along with a 1st round in a very deep draft. Maloofs might think that they would poison us with a headcase like Artest but I'm sure Kobe, Phil, Lamar will. A lockdown perimenter defender just put it at that.

~Another option for # 2~
Instead of the # 1 put Farmar in and use the pick to hopefully draft Acie Law.

3.Resign Walton, Turiaf, and Mihm.

4.Use vet min. on Eddie Jones or P.J Brown
Reason:Veteran exp. off the bench will help us greatly.

5.Send our 2nd round picks to D-League or just release them.

So this could be our lineup next year.

Bell/Farmar/Jones
Bryant/Evans/Vujacic
Artest/Walton/Radmonivic
Odom/Cook/Brown
Bynum/Mihm/Turiaf

this team right here is realistic without giving up Odom or Bynum and is much better defensively than last year's team. I think it could contend for a title, even if it doesn't it would entice opt outs like KG to sign for less money to get a championship. Well theres my plan so tell me what you guys think?

The way I see it, we need to fill two holes. PG and SF. A quick pg that can stay in front of his man leads to less fouls for our bigs.

I say E Watson should be a target for the Lakers. Kwame and Cook for E Watson

At SF our best bet is Artest. If the Kings are willing to trade with us we can offer up Luke, Mihm, and 1st rd pick

Defense is improved and we do not rid ourselves of Bynum and Odom, we basically keep the core together

Use the MLE on either Magloire of Moore
If we have the LLE use it on PJ Brown for depth at the pf

Watson/Farmar/Williams
Kobe/Evans/Sasha
Artest/Radmonvic
Odom/Tuiaf/Brown
Bynum/Magloire

Would this lineup win a championship. Maybe not, but if KG, Oneal, Gasol, or even Billups falls through this may be the best thing for the team. This offseason is already excruciating for me.

TRADE BETWEEN - LAKERS AND TWOLVES

LAKERS GET:
Kevin Garnett
Marko Jaric
Mark Madsen

TWOLVES GET:
Lamar Odom
Kwame Brown
Vladamir Radmonivic

TRADE ACCEPTED http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=981~617~1016~261~387~496&teams=16~16~16~13~13~13

-OR-

We sign Mike Bibby over the off-season.

Either trade/signing would do well for the Lakers at both needed positions.

the portland part is a tad unrealistic but we get to keep bynum and every1 gets a good deal for wat they give up.

I like it only I wish we could substitute Odom for Bynum.

i didnt even consider that cuz i natually wanted to keep bynum. i dont think it would work salary wise anyway.

i used the espn trade machine and came up with this:

Lakers
Incoming: Jermaine O'neal, Jason Kidd
Outgoing: Kwame, Bynum, Odom, Radmanovic, Evans

Pacers
Incoming: Kwame, Odom, Cook
Outgoing: Jermaine O'neal, Jamaal Tinsley

Nets:
Incoming: Bynum, Radmanovic, Tinsley
Outgoing: Jason Kidd

we get a HOF point guard and a star big man.
pacers get a versatile player in Odom, shooting in Cook, and low post D and expiring K of kwame.
nets the potential in Bynum, some shooting in Vlad, and a solid PG in place of kidd while williams develops.

we are not trading Kobe.

So IMO the path to being an immediate contender is as follows.

Trade 1:
Bynum, Kwame, 19th (Acie Law), McKie(S&T), Future First for Jermaine

-Trust me Indiana does not want Odom. They are rebuilding not looking to take on a thrid option player with a big salary and someone who is gonna take away from their bright young stars in Diogu/Granger. They would then move guys like Dun Dun, Murphy, Daniels, Tinsley for some more youth and expiring Ks.

Indianas New Roster:
Bynum/Harrison
Diogu/Murphy
Granger/Dunleavy
Williams/Daniels
Law/Tinsley

Trade 2:
Odom, Evans, Vlad, Sasha, Farmar for Ron Artest, Brad Miller, Mike Bibby

One can dream...

MLE Split= Kapono, (3.6 Mill) Jannero Pargo(2 Mill)
Vet Min: Chris Webber (one last shot at gold)

40th-Reyshawn Terry
48th- Demitris Nichols

Your 2007-2008 Lakers:
Miller/Turiaf/Mihm
Oneal/Webber/Cook
Artest/Walton/Nichols
Kobe/Kapono/Terry
Bibby//Farmar/Pargo

After hearing that Kobe was at UCLA playing pick up ball with Paul Pierce I couldn't help but remember how much I wish we could get Pierce. I think he would be the perfect player to play along side Kobe.

Oh well, some things just aren't meant to be. man6

...is it October yet?

...the rumor I read from a Sky post: "Charlotte is the third team on Kobe's list. Jordan runs the show. Cats have huge cap room, could build a team around Kobe from scratch in free agency over the next two years."

So, if I've got to go on that premise, then...

...Kobe to Charlotte for Wallace, Okafor, Knight, pick (# 8)
...Kwame & Walton to Denver for Camby
...Cook, pick/s to Sac for Artest

Odom / Farmar / Knight
Artest / Evans
Wallace / Radmanovic
Okafor / Turiaf
Camby / Bynum

Yes, because Kobe's definitely going to waive his no-trade clause to go to a team who's best players, at that point, are Adam Morrison and Ray Felton. Come on, I get groundless, but this isn't NBA Live...

The key words in my graph were "IF I've got to go on that premise". For the record, I don't think Kobe goes there either, although if he's serious about going to Pluto, then frankly, the lakers should definitely call that bluff.

As for groundless, according to the dictionary, that means "without rational basis", so, all in good fun, I think I am in the right thread with this. If there is an nba-live thread, please direct me to it.

I don't think this is a groundless trade idea, because I think it would be a reality if the Lakers front office would consider it. It is a realistic trade. Although it hasn't been proposed anywhere, I think both teams would do it, and it would work for both teams.

If I'm Buss, I get Mitch on the phone, and the 2 of them meet with Kobe. I'd tell Kobe this is what we are planning to do, we are going to build around you. We are looking at Marion, JO & whatever else they got up thier sleeve. Our goal is to build around you and not get raped in the process. Are you down or not. If not.....then I'd tell Kobe we hate to see you go, but we'll give you your wish on our terms. Yes you have a no trade clause, but we are not going to take the shaft like we did with Shaq and get nothing for you. We are going to build a win/win situation. You must agree to be traded to Phoenix. Our price tag for you will be Amare, Barbosa & a draft pick. We'll even through in a re-signed Luke, to go with you, with your pick of Turiaf, Cook, Kwame to give you an extra big body to go with Kurt Thomas & Diaw over there. We win, cause it gives us a true superstar for a superstar, and we get a point guard, and a pick to gain more flexibility to put in missing players. You win cause you are on a contender that got to the WCF without Amare before. Phoenix will do the deal cause Luke will be in it & they would be able to finally sell out on the road and get more tv revenue. Plus both teams would have flexibility to do other things to get better. win/win all sides. No other team in the league can offer us the flexibility Phoenix can and they are the only team in the league that can give up a superstar and still be a contender with the addition of you. If you dont like that opt out!!! Those are your choices.

What? Why give up 2 of our best trade assets for an aging Ray Allen, coming off a 55 games playesd season, when we can pursue a guy like Jermaine O'neal or Pau Gasol. Horford is not ready to start in the West, and will get beaten to death every night.

Kobe for Michael Redd/Andrew Bogut/#6. I think the AB duo down low would kick, and Bogut IMO would be an ideal tri-PF.

Mike Conley Jr/Redd/Odom/Bogut/Bynum?

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=981~2748~617~1016~261~3031~2757~687~831~2417&teams=16~16~2~2~13~2~16~16~13~16

Laker's give #19 to Boston, Boston swaps picks with Minny, Lakers give #48 to Minny.

Minny would get a mix of young and vet talent in this deal. Although they don't get Lamar they still get Bynum and expiring contracts worth 20 mil next year! They also get Telfair and Gomes to add to their new youth movement. They move up in the draft enough to snag a Yi Jianlian or increase their odds of getting Brewer. Another 2nd rnd pick allows them to go after late draft names such as Glen Davis or Bobby Brown.

Boston would improve from this trade dramatically because they get rid of two huge contracts in Wally and Ratliff and also get rid of Telfair. They bring in Lamar Odom who would be a perfect 3rd option behind Pierce and Jefferson. They'd get the shooting touch of Vlad Rad and as an added bonus Craig Smith! Although they drop 2 spots in the draft it'll still be enough to land them a big name player like Brewer, Green, or possibly Jianlian. They would also land the Laker's #19 pick to add possibly Acie Law or Rudy Fernandez.

This is how Minny's lineup would look.

Foye/Hudson/Telfair
Davis/Gomes/McCants
Hassell/Howard/Jaric
Jianlian/Blount/Madsen
Bynum/Brown/Ratliff

Not a bad lineup for the future now let's take a look at Boston.

West/Rando/Ray
Pierce/Fernandez/Allen
Odom/Green/Powe
Jefferson/Radmanovic/Scalabrine
Noah/Olowokandi/Perkins

Not too shabby either.

As for the Lakers they would reunite former teammates Szczerbiak and Garnett. Wally would replace Vlad as our 3 point shooter and KG would be...well KG. We would have to make more signings with our MLE and vet min but it would be a very nice start to the offseason!
