Marc that is. man12

But seriously, I don't know much about Pau's brother. BSPN mentions him as a big body who can rebound.

MARC GASOL

From what I'm reading... he's just a back-up center who has a 4-year *career average* of:

6.17 ppg
3.81 rpg
0.67 apg
0.78 bpg
.603 FG%
.641 FT%

*Career Highlights: Played two seasons of high school basketball in Memphis, Tennessee at Lausanne High School from 2001-03, as he followed his brother, Grizzlies pivot Pau Gasol, to the United States. Returned to his native Spain and signed with F.C. Barcelona, competing there for the next three seasons. In 2006-07, he joined Spanish outfit Akasvayu Girona. Competed on the Spanish National Team at the 2006 FIBA World Championship.

(2006-07): Averaged 10.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in his first season for Akasvayu Girona. Posted 9.1 points and 4.6 rebounds in 18.6 minutes per game in the FIBA EuroCup. Earned All-Star honors and posted nine points, four rebounds and three assists.

(2005-06): Averaged 3.1 points in both the Euroleague and the ACB for F.C. Barcelona. Converted 14-of-19 shots in Euroleague play, receiving 7.4 minutes per game in 13 appearances. Competed for Spain at the 2006 FIBA World Championship and averaged 5.5 points and 3.3 rebounds in 12.5 minutes per game over eight contests.

(2004-05): Posted 5.1 points in 16 minutes per game at the ACB level for F.C. Barcelona and 5.0 points and 4.9 rebounds in 16.6 minutes per game in the Euroleague. Averaged 16.8 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks at the 2005 Under-20 European Championship.

(2003-04): In his debut season with F.C. Barcelona, averaged 1.2 points in 6.8 minutes per game in the ACB and 1.4 points in Euroleague play.

Strengths: Good size and strength to operate in the post. Has soft hands and a soft shooting touch.

ESPN said Gasol averaged 19 points and 9 rebounds in Spain on a Championship team or something like that.

Either your numbers are wrong or ESPN gave numbers for Pau man10

Well, at least we didn't take a 6 foot PG with the pick. We need a backup 3rd center most likely so this could be a good thing if he even makes the team.

According to Ford:

Quote:
Pau Gasol's brother isn't a great prospect, but he does take up space in the middle. He probably stays in Spain for another year or two.

I knew that Gasol will end up in Lakers! jam2
Smart move, because before draft everyone knew that Lakers will draft in 2nd round players who most likely won't get roster space. This is first time when I hear about that Chinese guy, but about Gasol I've heard before! man1
Let him develop 1-2 years overseas and then he may contribute for us as back-up center.

What I've seen of him definitely helps me understand why he was a mid-second round pick. Big frame, willing to play within the offense and do the dirty work, but limited offensive game and too weak to be a rebounder. If he puts some meat on his bones, he could set nice screens and do the dirty work. Needs to spend the next two years in Europe, and in a weight room.

I like the draft deals, 2 players as backup points guards and one backup center.
Now they can trade more easily kwame and/or bynum for somebody at the point guard or PF/C position. I donīt think Gasol is playing less good than the other Lakers centers. The europena leagues arenīt that weak anymore. Many top team have a top european player (San Antonio Parker, Dallas Nowitzki, just to mention some MVPīs and Phoenix Diaw)

Gasol played yesterday against the 1st spanish team, and did a couple nice dunks... In the video, first dunk at 1 minute, and the other at 2:20. His team lost, but he had 19 points with 9/9 shots.

Highlights of the game, he's the numer 33 of the reds -> http://acbtv.acb.com/video/365

Marc still has a long way to go before Memphis can put aside the crime that occurred.
