Is it just me or does he remind you of Kobe in his younger days? Just the way he moves about the court and his dribbling style.

Maybe that's why Kobe got beat on that move? lol... his own offense vs. his own defense, mhihi

Reading more of his bio, Romel Beck is a Laker/Kobe fan. So it makes sense why his crossover looks a lot like Kobe's. It's like Kobe@29 vs. Kobe@17. Beck is 7 feet tall too.

Seriously though... I like this kid, (not just cuz he's Mexican) lol, but he displays an intriguing ability to slash through the lane, create, competitive, can shoot it from the outside, etc... I think this tournament has helped his stock A LOT!

I wouldn't be surprised if he's wowed! some scouts and won himself some invitations to tryouts... or camps...

:)

Yeah the guy has a lot of potential. A 6'8 SG with handles and a nice shot. The commentators on FSN were talking a lot about thim going into more detail. Of course you don't expect the ignorant commentators on ESPN2 to know anything about Beck.

Beck looks like he has alot of skill. Not to mention 6'8 is also good. Needs to fill out though. A college work out program would do him wonders.

" Romel Beck
I was really impressed with him last night in the game against Argentina. Romel Beck has an arsenal of offensive moves and is super athletic. He can take his man off the dribble, pull up for 3 pointers in transition, and has a variety of moves on the baseline. He's been one of the top scorers in the FIBA tournament so far, and got off to a quick start again last night with 14 points in the 1st quarter.

He finished with 24 points on 10/13 shooting and 4 steals.

Against Panama he has 28 points on 12/22 shooting and 3 steals.

This is what's great about these tournaments. It showcases players you'd probably never see and hopefully Beck gets an NBA camp invite after his performance."

"I was also impressed while I watched the first quarter, only part of the game I watched and then went to sleep. I had no idea who he was and thinking to myself I'll search him up online tommorow. He 9 quick points when I was watching."

"He is definitely good enough to get a camp invite. To be honest he seems to be the best player in this tournament who is not in the NBA."

"yeah, this kid broke kobe bryant's ankles last night on a four point play. that says something.

he even got props from kobe after the game.

sign him, mitch!"

A good thread on Romel Beck CASTRO.

He seriously reminds me a bit of Kevin Martin from the Kings by the way...

WOW!

check out his game by game stats and all together in the tournament stats through 6 games!

http://www.2007lasvegas.fibaamericas.com/pages/eng/fe/07/fibaAmer/men/teamPlay/play/p/eventid/3965/langlc/en/openNodeIDs/1441/playernumber/54166/roundid/3965/selNodeID/1441/teamnumber/328/fe_teamPlay_playStat.html

he's averaging 23.3 PPG on 38/52 from 2pt range 73.1 % and 14/32 from 3pt range good for 44%

his free throws: 22/27 82%.

i LOVE this guy!

i wish the lakers would at least give him a look or invite...

Update on Romel Beck from a friend of mine who lives in Italy.

"im from Varese,Italy...near milan...
i see your video about romel beck castro
he's going to play in my team Cimberio Varese.
bye"

i'm glad to hear that, that he'll be playing in the respectable italian league, but i am a bit dissapointed he wasn't apparently good enough for the nba.

:(

oh well, he's still dope in my book.
