This wreaks of a letdown unfortunately. _________________ “That was a trip. It felt great, though. I don’t got to worry about nobody poisoning my burger now. I can eat in peace.”

I don't predict a letdown. Contain CP's penetration, don't leave Peja open, put somebody big on West and watch out for Chandler and his blocking ability. We can win this. _________________ Weezy's Weemens

We gotta keep Chandler and West off the boards. They combined for 30 rebounds (17, 13 respectively) against the Denver Nuggets. That's against Marcus Camby, Nene, Kenyon Martin.
Turiaf will need to do a solid job guarding David West, and I believe he will. Kwame needs to box out Tyson Chandler and not give up second chance opportunities.
Nobody can guard Kobe so I expect him to be able to penetrate and dish to teammates.
I have a feeling CP3 is too quick for Fisher, Farmar did very well staying in front of Steve Nash, and not a bad job on Deron last night so I hope he gets his share of playing time to slow down CP3.
In the past the Lakers have always seemed to have trouble against the Hornets, even with their injuries. Now they are all healthy, and undefeated so this is going to be a tough matchup. The Lakers need to continue playing hard throughout the game despite the fact this team isn't as tough as the Suns, Jazz, Rockets. Don't get lacadazical or too confident and play the way we played the first 3 games and we should be fine. _________________ GoalLineBlitz (Manute Bol- LB) http://goallineblitz.com/game/signup.pl?ref=298765

what if we put Kwame on West? Chandler isn't an offensive threat, so would we prefer to have Kwame focus on keeping him off the Offensive boards or use Kwame's great man D to shut down West? _________________ Go Buffs. |

Funny to say it but, the Lakers first real test of the season.
Last year, a majority of games that we should have won, we ended up losing.

| Yup for the most part stay in front of CP3 and do a soild job of keeping Tyson and West off the boards. Bench can come in and contribute immediatley then we win. |

We know what Chris Paul can do, defensively Fisher can't do much, (a la Steve Nash and Deron Williams), but it's what Fish does on the offensive side that makes the difference. He tires them out, they get weary, all apart of Fisher's game. Kwame needs to keep up is great defense (Kwame had 4 blocks in Utah's game) against Ty Chandler and use two hands when going for a dunk, (I think his right hand is smaller than is left.) Turiaf will get his, play solid D on David West, hit open jumpers, get open for those easy dunks, and stay away from fouls. LOL.
NO has 3 great players, but they lack depth on the bench. Once again, Bynum, Farmar, Vlad have to scorch their bench like they've been doing, and the game is in the bag.
Key to this game: The bench. |

I feel a letdown also for some reason, always happens with certain teams which includes the hornets.
but Im hoping its not a letdown because i want them to win, I think it will be a very close game though.

| I agree with a few of you, this is a real test for the Lakers. Will they continue to play hard, hustle on defense, and play team ball? Or will they 'lax because this team didn't make it to the play offs last year, unlike the Suns and Jazz? Even though this team wasn't great last year, missed the play offs, they should still play hard, just as they did when the Suns and Jazz...we don't want a 2OT loss like to the Bobcats last year do we? |

So far, the Hornets are unbeaten, while the Lakers stand at 2-1. I really hope that we get rid of the curse from last season, where we would beat top teams but lose to bad ones. Bynum will have to step his game up once again, when he faces Chandler. He didn't make the National team for nothing, you know. He's a sufficient C and an elite rebounder.
I don't think that we need to keep him in foul trouble, as he's not as an offensive threat as Boozer. Seriously, the Lakers have to bring their A game tomorrow, regarding their perimeter defense. Chris Paul, Peja, Bobby Jackson, Rasual Butler, and Morris Peterson are players we should concentrate on containing.
For the Lakers, expect the same starting lineup:
C: Kwame Brown (5.7ppg, 1.7apg, 1.00spg, 1.33bpg, 2.00TOpg, 7.30 total rebounds)
PF: Ronnie Turiaf (8.0ppg, 1.7apg, .33spg, .67bpg, 1.33TOpg, 4.70 total rebounds)
SF: Luke Walton (9.0ppg, 4.3apg, .67spg, 1.33TOpg, 5.30 total rebounds)
SG: Kobe Bryant (31.3ppg, 3.7apg, 3.33spg, 5.00TOpg, 1.00bpg, 8.00 total rebounds)
PG: Derek Fisher (16.7ppg, 2.3apg, 2.00spg, 1.33TOpg, 1.70 total rebounds)
As for the Hornets:
C: Tyson Chandler (12.3ppg, .7apg, .00spg, 1.67bpg, 2.00TOpg, 13.70 total rebounds)
PF: David West (16.0ppg, 3.0apg, 1.67spg, 1.67bpg, 1.67TOpg, 7.70 total rebounds)
SF: Peja Stojakovic (14.0 pgg, 1.3apg, .67spg, .33bpg .33TOpg, 3.30 total rebounds)
SG: Mo Peterson (10.7ppg, 1.3apg, .00spg, .00bpg, .67TOpg, 1.00 total rebounds)
PG: Chris Paul (18.7 ppg, 9.7apg, 3.00spg, .00bpg, 3.00TOpg, 6.30 total rebounds)
(You can check all the stats here:
Lakers: http://www.nba.com/lakers/stats/index.html

Go Lakers!!!!

Lakers will win this if they played the same way as they played the two games. Team effort still. It's the best ploy the whole year round. Kobe's playing team ball just like last year when the Lakers were in full control of the season. A consistent response should come from the other guys.
With regards to defense, the team should stop Chris Paul because he opens up the NOH offense and if the Lakers don't play serious defense on him, they might do a Phoenix Suns job. If the Lakers stop Chris Paul, this will be an easy win. _________________ It's the length of one day. One half. One shot clock. This number is my promise to dominate every moment. |

I just don't like our chances when the Hornets come to town. I think my prediction had more to do with the game from last year at home.

Well, we can't allow anymore 20/20 games for Chandler. With Smush finally gone, MAYBE CP3 won't light us up for 20+, 10+, and 5+.
Unfortunately, I think we really miss Lamar in this game.
I don't like our chances, but I'm holding out for a Laker's win.
I think we might be in store for a special night from 24. _________________ All-NBA Challenge: Garcia, perfect for the Sonics(7/22)

Especially with his wrist getting better, the rest of us making our shots (so defense cant just triple Kobe), him playing excellent defense (good for the best in the league so far) and Fish getting him the ball at good spots on the floor, i think you may be right.
I hope we as a team continue our great play and come away with a good win. I really hope it's a blow out. We should play as hard tonight as we would against the Suns. _________________
