We're a step away from the finals and probably the last time I play a game like this instead of judge. It would seriously suck to pull the plug now, but if judges won't render a verdict then we're stuck. I'd say post the two game plans and just have everyone who still even reads this thread throw in their two cents on Maverick vs. Coville. Let's get to the final and wrap this bad boy up.

^ If that's what it comes down to, I'm not opposed to it. Anything to help get this done.

Judges... PM me.

I don't want to kill this, but if I have to, I might use some of the suggestions given to me....

At this point I am like whatever, to be honest it is just ridiculous.

I'll judge the next one, but play...I don't think so.

i apologize for being late, truth be told i dont read this thread anymore i got tired of reading the whining and condescending remarks of people, i am completely open to discussion but not that(not to mention school started and my wife is prego). So having not read the thread i didnt know when the deadline was or why i didnt get another set of results. IToday out of curiosity i came in the thread i discovered my folly. have been done with this round for a few days, i think thursday or friday. i was just waiting to get a pm with the other set, or a deadline. Its no ones fault but my own. So again i apologize...

I'll be the 3rd judge.

Deadline: Monday at 8PM PST. Sorry for making it so late; I have an insanely busy weekend.

To speed it up, the deadline for the winner will be Wednesday at the same time.

Coville vs Sky in the finals. Write-ups by Wednesday at 8 PM PST.

Only two of the judges have submitted, but since L4L is DQ'd and both said Coville won...

I'd post the judges reasonings, but honestly, I might not have to. Nothing much said.

We've both turned in game plans so here's mine.

STARTERS
Yao, Wilt, McAdoo, LeBron, Penny

We’re supersizing it. If Coville can’t board he can’t run. If Coville can’t run he loses.

DEFENSE
Yao on Parish – Chief is not a big scoring threat. Key is for Yao to keep him off the glass.
Wilt on Duncan – Timmy isn’t used to having his shot blocked. No glass for him either vs. Wilt.
McAdoo on Erving – Length and speed defuses length and speed, similar body types.
Hardaway on Thompson – Faster, longer, taller to contest jumpers.
LeBron on Kidd – Length causes Kidd turnovers. Let him shoot.

Every matchup favors us on the glass. Coville’s lifeblood is the boards and we’re choking that off.

When Kidd sets up high LeBron will sink off him to deny the passing angle to Erving and play the passing lanes for steals. We should generate plenty of turnovers with this defense, as Penny and LeBron are both 2+ steals and Wilt, Yao, Mac generate a ton of blocks.

In transition his rebounders are all facing taller defenders that will challenge the outlet as Penny and LeBron play safety against the deep pass. Both guards are tall, long and fast with great hands.

BENCH
Moncrief and Cooper come off the pine to take turns shutting down Thompson and Kidd. Gus Johnson is used on Dr. J; Gus defended Wilt and Oscar in his day, 6-5 powerful board machine, big hops, quickness and all-D.

When Coville brings in Dale Ellis we bring in Detlef, a battle of 3’s favors us; Schrempf hits a surreal .514 from 3. We’re happy to trade baskets with the benches in.

When Yao sits, McAdoo goes to 4 and Wilt to center playing off Parish to protect the hoop. Chauncey will be saved to play the final 8 minutes, going man up at 1 and spacing the floor with his 3 shot.

OFFENSE
We’re starting at the elbow with Yao, who can pass it down to Wilt on the block or work a 2-man game with Penny and LeBron, as McAdoo is a kickout option wing and corner.

So with the high and low post we work hub and spoke off both Yao and Wilt. Penny and LeBron both have a speed edge against their man and should have cutting, finishing and midrange pull-up opportunities. Wilt and Yao will be used as passers early and scorers in the second and the third.

In the 4th LeBron sits for the first four minutes and then he goes to work as first option as we set him up against Thompson. LeBron had 30 of the final 31 points in the closing game of the ECF. Thompson can jump but he wasn’t much of a man defender. Chauncey is at 1 and the D has to stay on him, McAdoo is at 3 and the D has to stay on him. Yao and Wilt are high and low respectively and we just keep moving the ball and setting picks for Bron to go to work and finish it.

LeBron has catch and shoot passing options at all other four positions that spread the floor vertically and horizontally. Soon as the D converges on him he has the choice of finding the open man who can bury the shot in his comfort zone, or take his man and finish at the hoop or midrange. LeBron with the ball closing with Chauncey, McAdoo, Yao and Wilt. Just no way to defend that.

BOTTOM LINE
We control the glass and in so doing control the game. Kidd with Dr. J and Thompson is dynamite but it only blows up if you can run. Duncan and Chief will have difficulty rebounding against Wilt and Yao, same with Erving vs. McAdoo at 3 and Kidd vs. LeBron. In the halfcourt Erving won’t have the space since Kidd can’t shoot. Thompson can fill it, but he’s a volume shooter. We’ll bait them into feeding Skywalker all night to carry the O as he works his legs off against Penny and then Moncrief and Coop. Come the 4th Thompson’s legs won’t be in any shape to stop the LeBron onslaught and we close it out.

here is my write up. it is pretty weak, ill admit. I was frankly done with this game a bit ago, feeling as the judges and the guy running it gave up on it a long time ago.

On offense I run what I’ve been doing the entire tournament, balanced attack. Push it when we have the opportunities, but settle down and run our half court game through Duncan. Bring in the 3-point shooters if they sink the middle, but other than that just do what we have been doing. Every position on the floor is an offensive threat for us, so they will have to stay honest. I’ll bring in heavy doses of Sheed. Rasheed – Duncan form a nasty frontcourt. Sheed has the ability to face up and spread the floor with a very good low post game.

On Defense I am guessing he will go big and start Wilt – Yao up front. Duncan will guard Wilt while Parish will cover Yao. Parish should be able to contain Yao, Parish is tough and likes to get dirty, not Yao’s game and it should throw him off. Duncan and Wilt should be a good match up, I think Wilt will get his, but Duncan should be able to contain him to a point where he isn’t a problem. Erving is an under-rated defender and has the speed and length to give Lebron problems, Moncrief isn’t a huge offensive threat so I’ll have Thompson lay off him and look to double the ball (either Wilt or Lebron). Kidd can D up Hardaway, although Penny has some height on Kidd, Kidd is a bit bulkier than him and can body him up.

Good Luck Sky.

It's hard to do anything when people don't return PM's. I've been doing everything I need to be doing. Judges never responded, so what can I do?

This is getting out of hand.

I can't just get a new judge either.

One vote went to Sky, one vote went to Coville. Jamas is deciding the winner... bang

Sky came with the big boys.. Coviie stuck with his tried and true. Don't think Cov's team can do anything with what Sky put out there. Just too big and just as athletic. Close game until the fourth, when the SIZE just wears down the athleticism. Sky with a 12 point win 102 to 90

Sky is the winner.

I feel like I just got done giving birth. That took way longer than it should have. We were ROLLING, and then someone took the air out of the tire.

Can you blame me? Virtually everyone was late with their write-ups, the judges took (at times) over a week longer than they should have. The results were usually two sentences long. No one checked the thread.

I can go on forever. I was doing my part.
