what do you guys think of having a half court shot competition

we all know Kobe, Kidd and Lebron can do it so why not

and guys being able to do it easily seems to draw interest

or they could have a game of HORSE (no dunks allowed) .

They used to have HORSE.

I think they should alternate between years. Dunks on even number years and HORSE on odd number years.

So people won't get bored. and it gives a another year to think of new dunks and HORSE shots.

I didn't say to remove it. I don't want that either. I'm just saying maybe it can be on alternating years.

Maybe a flopping contest....jk... mhihi

Ic I think they could actually have both events at the same time though.

Why would you make [probably] the most popular, most watched event come every other year? That's a worse idea than the dunk wheel.

I presented the idea of a half-court competition a couple all-star games ago, but everyone here was against it saying Kobe would win every year.

Did anybody ever play the game knock-out when they were younger? It was a tradition at the basketball camp I went to during the summer.

It would work like this (adjusted to be more difficult, since they're NBA players)...

-10-20 players or 1 from each team
-2 basketballs

Everybody lines up single-file starting at the three-point line. The first two people have basketballs. The first person shoots. After you make it in, you pass it to the next person in line without a ball and then return to the back of the line.

If you miss and the person behind you makes the three-point shot (or any shot after that) before you can get the ball in the hoop, they're out. You can also knock other people's balls away with your own ball, including throwing it up in the air to knock away their 3-point shot if you're really concerned about it.

The opening shot could also be moved back to half-court if the three-point line proves to be too easy.

Hah, that would be awesome. (FYI, it's also called machine gun.)
But wouldn't all of the players just make shot after shot? I mean, if it got down to Kobe, and Kapono or something it would go on forever. man10

I like the idea of a half court shot contest or HORSE or something. I love shooting half court shots, it's fun and when you make 'em everyone goes nuts, that's the best part of the Shooting Stars game on AS Saturday. And HORSE, guys showing off their skills would be cool, but as mentioned it would probably run too long.

I'd prefer h-o-r-s-e but any event that will bump the Shooting Stars competition off Saturday night is fine with me.

agreed , it sucks and isn't exciting at all, plus I have to explain to my Mom whats going on every year, she gets the dunk contest and 3point shootout and skills challenge but the shooting stars always looks confusing to her mhihi

but I cant blame her, that contest looks like a mess and a lot of times they take long to make a shot and look pathetic.

HORSE or knock out would be fun, but I doubt it would work. The games need to have some sort of time constraint, which neither of those games have. The time length is unpredictable so I doubt any of those games will be added. Half court shot contest could work.
