KB8 Blog: The Ultimate Revenge?
Written on 2/6/2008
Shaquille O’Neal, perhaps the most hated man in the league to Laker fans, is potentially going to the team that Laker fans hate most. This is only days after the Lakers ski-masked Pau Gasol, becoming bona fide contenders in the process. Night is day, up is down, and in this case, good is great.
Sweet, isn’t it?
If there was ever a basketball God, he’d look deep into his heart, send Shaq to the desert, and grant us a third consecutive trip to the playoffs to face the Suns. The build up for a moment like this has been too long of a wait. I don’t feel like I have to say much right now - we all know we want it. What would be better than eliminating both the (former) Most Dominant Ever and the Suns at the same time? Killing two birds with one stone and breaking two curses would lift the spirits of every man who has ever bleed purple and trickled gold. While it’s not a guarantee that Shaq is a Sun or we even face them in the playoffs, I want you all to think of one thing while we wait for the outcome.
Shaq. Running and gunning. |

It would be sweet to beat Phoenix with Shaq, but I honestly don't have hate for the guy anymore, he's old and slow, he's not a threat. And not to be a downer, but on the flip side, if we lost to the Suns, OUCH that would sting twice as bad. They'd say even an old Shaq is better than a Kobe team in the playoffs, it'd be murder on Kobe. _________________ Weezy's Weemens

It will never happen. Shaq was getting dominated by freakin' Haywood type players this season. He's an average center now, and one that is the complete opposite of the Suns system. Besides, he'll probably trip on a donut and sprain his big toe before the playoffs. _________________

No, I know, I'm not confident in Shaq, I just get a bad feeling when playing a Shaq team. He does get up to play the Lakers and the Kobe/Shaq games have a huge atmosphere about them. Add the already huge Suns/Lakers game atmosphere and throw in Shaq and it's at a crazy level, and something about that just gets me uneasy. If Shaq is anything he's a playoff tested performer, something a lot of our guys are not. I think he makes them worse than they are with Marion, but I just have this feeling like you never know, Shaq seems to find ways to continue to haunt us. _________________ Weezy's Weemens

The thought of beating Shaq and Raja Bell makes me as happy as I was when we got Gasol. Lord, would that be awesome.
Redemption of Mitch.
Redemption of Kobe.
Redemption of the Lakers.
All in one swoop. _________________

I just want this to happen.
IMO, the NBA has been brilliant since the Crawford idiocy and Donaghy fiasco.
Garnett to the Celtics, Pau to the Lakers, and Shaq to the Suns!
Just think, two superstars, Garnett and Shaq go from relative obscurity to title-contending teams at the flip of a switch.
And Pau Gasol, a great player who no one ever watches, comes to LA, where he can shine as an international sensation and compete for a title.
Who cares about Minny, Miami, and Memphis? Mo one!
Stern is pulling the strings. _________________ "The Lakers need more fans like you!"

For me this is good news because it takes one of our leading competitors and still a relatively 'young' team and cripples the next couple of years for them. We took Gasol for the future not a one off hit, the Suns have taken Shaq for the title this year, but few think it will be enough.
I don't hate on Shaq or want revenge, but this is typical short-sightedness from a franchise and a knee-jerk reaction to the Lakers landing Pau. They're counting on Shaq to help out their chemistry problems....... _________________ ..with the sharpness.. |

Read this again after that game and tell me you don't want it. _________________
