Farmar Plays the Right Way

I know a lot of times I've been watching games and wondered to myself .. "what makes this kid special?" People have said he has the "it" factor when it comes to his presence; at first, I thought it was confidence.

What I found, though, is that maybe it's his humble respect for the game that makes him special.

good piece, hatta.

i do like the way the team has found a lot of guys willing to buy into the system and play ball. of course, the increased talent level has helped this year. let's hope that both trends continue going forward.

As a UCLA grad I was thrilled when the Lakers took him. He has done much better than I thought he would so far, and he's only going to get better as he gets more comfortable. Having Fish around has been great for him, and he should be ready to take over in the next year or so.

I think Farmar IS a hot dogger. And I think he is careless with the ball. And I think he has regressed defensively from the end of last season. I have great concerns about him being our next PG.

Now the good:
He's so young and has improved many aspects of his game already. I hope he identifies the problem areas (defense and decision-making) and works on those areas. I don't care if he studies the old greats. I want him to study his own mistakes. His outside shot is beautiful, a tribute to his hard work on it. His explosiveness is ridiculous, some of the best by any PG in the NBA. He has all the tools to master running the break. He just needs more study time and more experience.

Irrelevant but necessary:
I don't think Fisher is anywhere near perfect as a PG. I just think he's better generally at this point.

Farmar is definitely going to be a player, but he reminds me of a young Tony Parker.

Making young mistakes constantly...

Sometimes his head isn't into the game, but in a few years he'll be a legit starting PG.

This game is a good example. Comes in and blows a layup, and then turns the ball over in successive possessions. Lakers were up before he came in, and now trail by 5. It will come in time with him.
