Kobe wasn't going to make that shot...

If he lights it up in the first quarter, he's usually sluggish come 4th...

And vice versa...

Sasha would've made it but Odom didn't give the correct spacing allowing his man Moore to double kobe.

okay, sorry, didn't mean to compare Kobe to LeBron. but wth was with him taking the most difficult shot you can ask for?

You're right, you are gonna get burned. Kobe isn't 6'9, 260, doesn't jump out of the gym, isn't built like a tank and isn't 23 years old. LeBron drives to the hole, he gets the call, Kobe drives, they 'strip' him (foul) with no call. And you'd rather he passed it out than shot it? What if he passed it and the player had no time to shoot like usual? You wouldn't be saying 'he shoulda shot that, bad pass'? Right. man11 I love how Kobe's the hero when he's carrying us in Dallas with 30 in the 4th and OT and he'st the hero when he scores 17 in the 4th in Sacto, but he's 'no LeBron' when he misses the game winner. man8

I shouldn't have mentioned LeBron. I'm not trying to compare, I'm trying to make a point. Kobe had 4 seconds. what does he do? wait, wait, then take a ridiculous fade away shot.

If you like that shot then good for you. I promise you Phil didn't draw that one up.

Know what I'm saying? And Kobe is the hero. He's the best in the league. even tonight he played well. but it doesn't mean that he's not a crybaby, he doesn't complain about every call and that he takes the dumbest, wow most wtf shots ever.

IMO

He didn't wait and wait, he caught the ball with 2 guys right on him. If he passes back to Lamar, Lamar most likely does something stupid like takes the shot and misses or throws the ball away, then we all blame Kobe for passing it to Lamar. If he passes it to Fish and Fish misses we blame Kobe for not wanting the last shot, he can't win, it's a joke. 4 seconds isn't a lot, he caught the ball way out, tried to get by 2 guys and had to take a hard shot. He's not LeBron, he's not 260 6'8 and can get to the rim at will, he's just not, again if that's what you want, go root for the Cavs. Kobe is what he is, he's a shooter, he's not a big unstoppable driver of the ball. Just because he's not graet at that and LeBron is he gets hated on for it, again, it's a joke.

Glad there's still sensible people around here.

twoone, if you don't have anything thoughtful to say then don't speak. I don't think waiting, waiting and taking a fadeaway shot with two people guarding you a good shot. do you?

First of all, he didn't wait. He caught the ball read the defense, tried to drive right, Mikki Moore cut him off. There was no time left, he had to force up a shot.
If he would have passed it off, you guys would have bashed him for taking the shot.

Secondly, Weezy's absolutely right. When Kobe carries us, goes superman like he did against Dallas and Sac last game, he's great. He misses the game winner and all of a sudden Lebron's a better finisher.

Phil, seriously, it's time to retire that play. You've been running it since the days of MJ, and it's time to put it on the shelf. We need something new. We need variation. It's too predictable.

Laker bench got creamed...

Jordan Farmar, has he hit the wall or slumping... either way he could've helped us tonight, but instead hurt us...

It's quite interesting how so MANY things come into play.. people glorify the guy making a game winner.. but, really, spacing, the man who is inbounding the ball, the play itself, EVERYTHING is important to make it successful. Lakers have a long way to go.. I don't trust the guys out there right now.. unless Kobe is hot, I haven't seen enough from the rest to call this a championship team. Let's not even talk about defense..

Yep, let's not go around pointing fingers on who to blame. EVERYONE's collective defense was just horrid. We could not stop Beno from going left........played the pick'n'roll as if our feet were cemented to the ground.......overall just could not get a stop when we really needed it.

Why was Lamar just standing out of bounce??? Couldn't he have given kobe a screen or something?

The Good
Pau's game
Fish's 4th Q
Sasha's scoring tear

The Bad
Kobe's 2nd half
Vlad's foul trouble
Ronny's lack of offense (0 points, 1 shot)
Fish's obsession with layups

The Ugly
Jordan Farmar's entire evening
Luke Walton's decision making
The bench's energy (minus Sasha)
The bench's TOs (9)
The officiating
The lack of defense

This loss was so frustrating with SA losing to Phx with us being able to push out our lead. Another 2 days before the Toronto game, and if they don't have Bosh, no way can we give that one up. SA is probably the favorite against Denver tommorow so every game from here on out is important for the playoffs.

this is one of the few times i think the play called was not right.

it's going away from the basket w/ 4.6 seconds left, that's not good

AND

it allows for double teams w/ little time left, that's not good

i would have liked to see the play drawn for lamar to dive down and allow sasha and fish to be the outlets on the perimeter so at least if kobe gets doubled it's w/ a smaller guy

yeah, zero experience in that situation.

Kobe was off in this game too. He just wasn't into it.

This game tells me that they'll get bounced in the playoffs sooner than they should.

Very reminiscent of the late 90's lakers...uber talented but no experience.

weezy and twoone, I'm not using the right words but all I'm trying to say is that Kobe didn't have to take a fade away shot.

Kobe can attack the rim just fine... do you really think the Kings are going to take any chances? they aren't going to foul Kobe, period.

I just wonder sometimes if they should even call a timeout.. unless you are going to set up a play for someone other than Kobe, just go ahead and play because Kobe is quick/creative enough to get a good shot with the opponent defense not being set.

how the heck can u expect to be a championship team if you cant even beat one of the bottom dewellers at your own place, better yet barely lead in the last 30 seconds?

Do Farmar or Fish ever even listen to the game plan? I mean how hard is it to force someone going to their right hand? Beno ran circles around these two clowns in the game up in Sac and today. I can't believe the majority of the people here think our PG situation is in good hands.

You wont ever see the Spurs, Mavs, or Suns get man handled by the queens like this on their home courts.

Loss goes to variety of factors as usual:

1. Lakers defense....although they tightened things up admirably in the second half. Down the stretch though...too many easy looks for the Queens.

2. Refs: First the no-call on Pau's last basket (should have been an And-1)...and they did with a freaking rookie on him. Hawes got another Pau hack earlier get turned into a jump ball. LOL. And then of course the bailout freethrows with 4 secs to go. I thought the refs weren't supposed to blow the whistle at the end?

3. Sasha....yeah he hit some jumpers. But down the stretch, he gets the loose ball, runs the break, has Kobe running it with him, and decides to ignore him. Fine, you're going to ignore the best freaking finisher in the game, at least make the basket.... mad1

I miss this Kobe.

I will always cherish this shot.

He also made a game tying three which led to overtime.

The season was on the line, last game of the season.

there was no space on that break w/ kobe, i don't know how he could have gotten him the ball there

besides, kobe missed a layup in the final minutes as well, along w/ sasha
