|
Just heard the news, didn't know about this since I haven't been writing for his board (OTR) for a while now. I was lead writer on his board for a couple years, but had to step down due to school.
Apparently, he woke up a couple weeks ago with no vision in his eyes, he's practically blind at this point. He had problems from the get-go and complained about it often, but nothing to this extent. I guess it's being reported at his board that he's going to have surgery, but there may be some complications that will delay the proceedings.
Just wanted to inform the masses around here because he was once a mod and still a respected member here and in Laker lure in general.

This is tragic. I can't even imagine how horrible life would be without vision. I feel like crap for all the mean things I ever said to him and all the altercations I got into with him. Man oh man, I hope the surgery goes well, can his vision be repaired? Although he was a bit troublesome, he really was an active, information-packed mod and I always respected him. My thoughts and prayers are with him. _________________ I drank a fifth of vodka, dare me to drive?

Not sure at this point. The only update I was able to get on his website at this point is that there are complications with the surgery proceedings and that he is waiting to be approved for medicaid. I guess it's taking them longer then they thought and are scared that it may be too late by the time he is approved. _________________ Are You A Suns Fan?

I remember him saying that he has diabetes, type 1 at that.
I'm guessing his diabetes caused a complication called "Diabetic Retinopathy". It happens when blood vessels in your eyes start leaking blood into the center of your retina which can cause vision loss.
IT IS curable though with surgery so I hope it goes well for him. |

I'm very sad to hear this.
My best wishes go out to him. I use my eyes for work as an artist, so I don't know how I would be able to deal with waking up one day blind. It must be a horrible feeling to say the least.
I hope he can get surgery in time and gets better soon. _________________ Sweet Daddy Barnstable's Bad A** Broads:

I've not been here long enough to know the guy but I hope everything turns out ok for him. _________________ "I'll do whatever it takes to win games, whether it's sitting on a bench waving a towel, handing a cup of water to a teammate, or hitting the game-winning shot. " - Kobe Bryant. |

| Oh man, this is terrible, I really hope he gets better. Is there anyway we can all chip in as a group and write him a letter or something, just like we did when Lamar Odom's son passed away? |

not to be a a jerk or anything, but the letter thing might not work, since he cant read right now. Once he gets the surgery and gets his vision back, then we should send a letter to him. We can do it right now, but someone would have to read him the responses. _________________

But there's absolutely nothing wrong with having a letter that wishes you well READ to you while you're having surgery on your vision. Unless there's some aspect I'm not understanding. _________________
