I would hope that no one is really worried about losing to the garbage from Mosquitoville today. We're probably going to lose our next two as well. When you're this short-handed the odds are going to be stacked against you. I'm sure the fanbase in Mosquitoville is feeling pretty good, but at the end of the day we all know that they still won't win the games that actually matter.

Once we get everyone back we'll be just fine. I'm no more worried about losing these games than the current champions would be worried about losing to Philly last night or Detroit before that. The only games that matter happen in the playoffs and we're still a month away from those. Once those start we'll be alright.

Alston undid his great game with punk-butt showboating at the end. Classless.

dude, they just won 22 straight. we'd be doing the same thing..

Yeah.Give the Rockets Credit. They are playing the Right way and Have rallied around there fallen Comrade Yao Ming. I wish the Lakers Could have done the same thing when Andrew first went down and now with Pau out. Say what you want, but the Rockets are looking like a championship team. Imagine if the still had Yao.Scary.Folks might be saying Rockets>>>>Lakers, cuz they actually Defend people or 48 minutes.

I won't be surprised if both KG and Paul Pierce break their ankles before Tuesday.

not nearly as much as you make it seem. If people watch other MVP candidates and teams, they'll see that they are all human. No one is as "consistent" that you want them to be.

No they aren't. But the one thing they do have is composure. You don't see them slacking off in transition D just to complain to a ref. You don't see them give up on the gameplan just to show that he's not going to get outmatched by some scrub making a 3 after Kobe makes a move.

that's the difference between you and Kobe.. he doesn't consider it an embarrassment.. if he lets these types of game get him, he wouldn't be where he is today.

What? You want Kobe to shoot 33 a game even when he's making only 11? Even a scrub can get that.

do you really think Kobe would have shot 11/33 if it wasn't for the Rockets defense? Especially battier, wow, amazing defense. He played FLAWLESS defense. Every shot Kobe took he had a hand a few centimeters from his eyes. Literally. And he even made a few of them. I'm surprised Kobe didn't get an eye injury..

You're kidding me if you think any other scrub could play that well with that kind of pressure and defense.

I'm with you on this one. Kobe had a miserable game by his standards but Battier played pretty much perfect D on him. You can't expect Kobe to carry us every game. It's not humanly possible. The people saying Kobe shouldn't be the MVP because of this one game are ridiculous.

I thought he played pretty good... fg % isn't everything. his defense was dominate on TMAC.

that's funny.. you only notice it because Kobe actually plays defense that you notice it when he isn't. Most of the other MVP candidates don't even play that great of a D that you are used to it.

and oh, let me know what the game plan was.. because, with this current roster, it's pretty hard to have one.

a 22 game winning streak will mean nothing when they get exited in the 1st round

they simply are not that good from what i saw

they just aren't

the lakers(healthy)

the spurs

the suns

the mavs

the warriors

the hornets

are all much better than this team by a long shot i'm sorry they are winning purely on energy and hitting jumpshots but when the playoffs come and the games slow down they will not win any games.

i honestly see golden state going further than houston they play with just as much energy but actually have talent.

i see this houston team losing in 5 games to whoever they play

Why can't this team defend the pick and roll.????? bang

It's frustrating to see point guards continue to score at will on this team. bang

They need to get it together defensively or we are in trouble.

you don't see Kobe shooting 4/16 either. And TMAC is a MVP candidate as well. seriously, quit crying, it's annoying.

where do you live btw? we should meet at a gym somewhere, I want to embarrass you and then laugh at how you can't stay in front of me, or make your "layups" when I swat your elbows every time.

that was a serious offer btw.

well i'd personally like to say houston is getting lucky with some of the opponents like they went against us without bynum and pau, they went against dallas when dirk got suspended for that one game, the last time they went against new orleans they didn't have david west

in the end though i will give them credit for playing good team defense and having the streak go this long without yao ming.

to me though this team is definitely not unbeatable because their inside prescence isn't that strong. But i respect that Houston epitomizes the characteristics of true team basketball because they give it their best and don't quit on a play on defense. i can only hope lakers would eventually play defense with a passion like houston.

i hope this lit a fire for though for those who are still playin with the lakers til gasol and bynum get back because there are no excuses in the end when you win or lose. we were outplayed today and i hope the lakers recognize this so they can prepare for their next meeting.

Our point guards got out-classed today.

Oh, didn't you hear? KG got pushed down a flight of stairs and broke his leg, Ray Allen got food poisoning and will be out for a week, and Paul Peirce's car's brakes got faulty and he crashed and got a concussion.

I've praised Kobe time and time again for his defense. He has the ability to be one of the best perimeter defenders in the league. Instead, he gambles too much and is in a constant whine mode. Sure, he has very little help defense. But on the flip side, Kobe is often trying to help out when the help isn't needed and is absent when the help is actually needed.

dallas dirk gets suspended

lakers gasol gets injured right before

Well, I think ALL losses are of significant, considerable concern at this point. We could return from the road trip as the 6th or 7th seed. If we return home playing poorly and if Gasol is out for an additional couple of weeks, we could VERY easily be on the outside looking in and out of the playoffs. So, yeah, there is a slight cause for worry at this juncture.

glad this game is over..now I have some closure...Rocket fans can enjoy #1 seed..they will just have a target on their back like they do now...I just want the Lakers to make it to the playoffs healthy with Pau,Bynum,Ariza,Mihm back ready to go.

becuase we really don't thave the players. on the P&R, our strategy is to take away the shot and make them go to the hoop. this works well with bynum back there and decently with gasol, but turiaf just can't intimidate. I also stand by the opinion, that a well executed P&R is impossible to defend.

LOL real mature. Did I even mention that I played basketball well? Just cuz you're not good at sometime doesn't mean you can't criticize someone else. If that was the case, no one here would be able to say anything about any professional player. Nice logic.

Problem all season long, we've be winning games because we scored a lot of points not because we defended well. I hope Drews return will make our guards stay home on shooters.

You won't come to far in the Playoffs with defense like this and just trying to outscore your opponent, Phoenix has shown it for a few years.

I actually liked the effort...it was a valiant showing until the end.

They lost on dumb things....missed freethrows, dumb fouls, stupid passes, too much solo play and the like. We were actually better off with Mbenga on the floor because he had the size to fight with the Rockets on the boards. Kobe had a rough game, no doubt, but he got handled in the paint and got a tons of no-calls.
He shouldn't have tried to go solo on this one....but was there anyone in particular that could've been relied on to make big shots for us.

As for whether missing Pau would've made a difference....yes, it would have...we would have scored way more in this game than 92, and when you have the Rockets go 0-12 to start the third quarter and we only manage a 10-0 run in response...how much better position would Pau have put us in?

The classlessness of Alston will be remembered, I guess you can take a player off the street, but you can't take the street off the player. What a douche. It's not even as if the Lakers should remember it to motivate themselves, he's a scrub who happens to be on fire right now. It won't last, and now in a few games, their schedule is going to tighten up and teams are going to come gunning for them.

I would love to see how you would react when you get hit everytime you drive and you have nothing to show for it.

Kobe's defense isn't at its maximum potential, I agree, though.

The Rockets obviously have the same 'hopes.' And it's not just "one freaking game" for them, it's the 22nd freaking game in a row.

Congrats to them for taking the WC lead. The showed why they deserve it today. Terrific defensive play throughout.
