|
|
Swingman Ira Newble has decided to sign a contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, choosing them over the Cavs.
A source said the Cavs offered Newble a spot on the team Wednesday, but the two sides could not agree on certain terms of his return.
The Cavs traded Newble to the Seattle SuperSonics last month, but never gave away his locker. Newble was eligible to rejoin the Cavs on Tuesday.
The Cavs still have one open roster spot that they may fill by early next week.

I, for one, am glad that we procured some help for the stretch run. Less minutes for Luke anyone? _________________

Quick question.
Is he included in the playoff roster? _________________ It's the length of one day. One half. One shot clock. This number is my promise to dominate every moment. |

YES!
I'm all for this signing to be honest. Signing Ira Newble means two things:
1) Better Defense.
2) Less Luke Walton.
Those are two things that we need very badly. Hopefully we see him in action soon. This team, which already had a lot of depth, just got stronger.
As for the team photoshoot, . _________________ "I'll do whatever it takes to win games, whether it's sitting on a bench waving a towel, handing a cup of water to a teammate, or hitting the game-winning shot. " - Kobe Bryant. |

Maybe he can do it to opposition. LOL.
J/K.
He's another body defensively. And he can further cut Puke's playing time. _________________ It's the length of one day. One half. One shot clock. This number is my promise to dominate every moment. |

Maybe... I think he'll play more at the 4 while our bigs are out...He obviously has a better stroke in his shot than Walton, especially the trey...One thing for sure, Mbenga, will have a new friend to sit with him.. _________________ fortuna favet fortibus |

Someone updated his Wiki quick fast:
"Ira Newble (born January 20, 1975, in Detroit, Michigan) is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers."
Also:
"Ira Newble leads a campaign to help bring awareness to China's involvement in the Darfur crisis. He is collecting signatures around the league for a letter that then will be presented to the Chinese government and the President of the Olympic Committee for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games."
He's gonna try to get Kobe to boycott!

We could have Ruben Patterson and we choose Ira Newble and effing Coby Karl. Good lord. _________________ Kobe Byant has brought the Lakers three championships, 4 Finals in 5 years, carried an absolutely pathetic team to the playoffs in the loaded Western Conference twice and almost upset the so-called MVP, and has given us countless thrills and memories. Good signing
Less mins for Luke, More scoreing and Defence from the bench and just adding depth. Whats there not to like? _________________ "I wasn't sure I could get up for that dunk...I felt like Luke Walton" - Kobe

Someone give me a scouting report.
And tell me why Phil would be inclined to put him in instead of let him rot like Jim Jackson & DJ |

The only reason why the Lakers are signing him is because of his defense. Hes not a good shooter, so we're basically signing him because of his defensive ability. |

How does he compare to Ariza on defense? |

| I've heard alot of complaints around this board about signing this guy. I just don't get it. He's not a scorer. He's not a headcase. He plays D. And thats exactly what we need. That will help take some pressure off Kobe on that end of the floor. |
