i just saw that.

crazy, but it looks green screen ish when the aston martin came across the screen. although i don't doubt kobe, but why would he try this anyway. mhihi

That's clearly a scarecrow dressed in Kobe's clothes. And when I slow it down, that's Kobe driving the car. mhihi

I don't think it's fake, everything looks fluid in it. The car just seems to be behind Kobe though, so it didn't really come directly at him. They just used a camera trick to make the illusion that he jumped over it. Either way, it's still impressive because it shows he has the ability to easily jump over one.

C'mon guys....any of you actually think that's real?

It's fake, he slows down in mid air, plus the fact that you know he wouldn't do that anyway. He's too serious about ball to ever do that, especially during the season. He's not playing games with a messed up pinky just to injure himself jumping over a car.

It's all marketing for the new shoe.

p.s. I didn't think the acting was anything special either, especially Ronny.

Looking at it one frame at a time in VirtualDub, it doesn't look fake. Kobe's shadow is being cast on the Aston Martin as it goes by. And at the same angle as the shadow is cast on the ground. And despite the idea that he's jumping from the side of the car, if you put your cursor where Kobe's feet are and move the video frames, you can see that the car moves over the area where he jumped and landed. Also as the Aston Martin drives back, you can see the driver is a bald-headed black guy who resembles Lamar Odom.

I LOL'ed....he made it look too easy, but still that was impressive.

Aren't Aston Martin's pretty low to the ground anyway...still as a standing jump that was impressive.

I wonder if the Lakers are going to fine him for reckless endangerment though.

It's "fake" and not fake at the same time.

He shows he can jump over it, but of course he can't attempt this for numerous reasons that should be obvious to everyone.

What he did was simple - Kobe was standing closer to the camera, and the car was behind him. You easily see it if you really pay attention. Or simply pause the video, and you'll see it. So he can jump over the car - but he didn't actually do it. They were side-to-side.

Simple, but effective camera trick.

I liked Turiaf saying: "you should not do it man. We need you in the playoffs... you have to play 40 mins and..."

"I'll be there, I got this. I got this!"

They are pretty good actors actually.

It's gotta be fake for the simple reason that it's an incredible liability to have kobe attempt something like that. I'm with everyone who says it looks real though, but logically if the Lakers organization prevents players from skiing, what more with stunts like this. If this was indeed real, imagine what would have happened if Kobe didn't make it. What position would that put the franchise in. It has to be fake. No organization would allow for something like this.

Obviously a viral marketing ploy for his hyperdunk shoe coming out.

It looks pretty real to me...at least in terms of lighting and shadow consistency.

Now it's possible they scoped in the car...but you won't be able to tell that with the low quality and resolution of the video.

What I love is how most of the post in here just want to show how its fake instead of just enjoying whatever it is. I knew before I opened this thread the first post I would see was "Fake" or "Whatever" or "THis is how he did that......." Guess its in peoples nature to try and be negative about something they didn't do... Oh well.
