Considering he said "Do not try what I'm about to attempt at home" that's a pretty stupid statement.

Kobe, living for the game of basketball, standing right before the most important play-offs of his career so far...why would he even THINK about letting a car drive full speed at him?
that's just insane.....

Oh please, you obviously don't know Kobe's personality too well. He could care less about how big a risk it is, that's part of the thrill. He likes doing the impossible.

I work in special effects and I can tell you how I would have done this effect.
There is actually no need for green screen here, just a very steady camera (which this has. That camera doesn't shake AT ALL).
1. Since this shot will require the most takes, get shot of Kobe and Ronny and have Kobe do his jump.
2. Immediately after that take is done and before the sun can move very much, get shot of car speeding through frame on parking structure roof (Kobe and Ronny are not in this shot at all).
3. Make model of an Aston Martin, light pole, ground plane and a 6'6 man in Maya (very simple, no textures just flat white on the surface of the models. This can be done in about 3 days).
4. Using video footage, re-create timing of jump over Aston Martin in Maya. Animate "Kobe" model to generally mimic his jump/knee bend etc. Also make sure to put the light source where the sun was during shooting (just move it until the shadow of the light pole matches).
5. Render scene with only the "cast shadow" part on. Each frame will come out white except for the shadows cast on the ground plane/man/car.
6. Using compositing software, composite the shot of the speeding car into the shot of Kobe jumping. It doesn't really need a green screen to pull a mask because the car is heavily motion blurred and is only on the screen a few frames, which means it can be easily done by hand and the lighting will match perfectly.
7. Using the compositing software, composite the shadow layer on top of the already composited Kobe jumping/car driving layer.
8. Post on the internet and have people insist that it's real because the shadows are accurately falling on the surfaces correctly.
Brilliant viral campaign for the shoes and it will have the added benefit of taking a few tards out of the mix Darwin-style when they get geeked up on Bugles, Slim Jims and Mountain Dew and try to recreate this video with their newly bought sneakers and a speeding IROC-Z.
