I don't know if this is official or not, but it at least it's something.
Now the focus shifts on what we can do with a high 2nd round pick.
Maybe we can package picks 38 and 58 for a 1st rounder, or maybe
we can pick up a couple of steals. The current mock draft has us
getting Richard Roby, a 6'6'' shooting guard. He's fairly servicable,
and plays a game reminicent of Allan Houston. We need help at the
point and an athletic swingman at the SG/SF position. Unless a
bonafide stud comes landing into our laps, I'd like to see Mitch
use some ingenuity with our picks, if possible. Alas, I digress,
the playoffs are upon us, and I think I speak for all the Lakers fans
when I say, KICK SOME A___ LAKERS! _________________ If I could do it, I would purposely walk up to Kwame Brown and tell him that he sucked more than Karine Steffans at a Jay-Z music video set. I wouldn't even be scared. The man is an absolute joke. I'm pretty sure I could take him one on one, and i'm only 6'2'', 210lbs. If he punches like he shoots free throws, then he'll be missing all day long. |

Even if we did have the pick this year, why is there a thread about focusing our attention to the draft? _________________

Apparently (according to Emplay though I read it 3rd party) the pick was originally for the '08 2nd rounder but when we made the Jumaine Jones trade with Charlotte it was amended to '09.
That is why you can google the topic and find official press releases from the Bobcats saying it is '08. At one point it was.
That said, I imagine it's something they could renegotiate at draft time if it interested both parties. _________________ To be good is not enough when you dream of being great. |

Press Enterprise: The Lakers don't have a first-round draft pick because it goes to the Memphis Grizzlies as part of the trade that brought Gasol to LA. The Lakers got Gasol in exchange for Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton and two first-round picks.
Memphis, which also has a lottery pick, will get the Lakers' first-round pick at No. 28.
The Lakers have a second-round pick at No. 58 and will remain in that position unless they make a deal to move up in the draft. |
