I only caught the first part of the show on my way in to work, but here are some things he said...

1) Did a lot of rooting for other teams the last couple weeks as teams jockeyed for playoff positioning.

2) Admitted last night he was rooting for teams that would match Denver up against New Orleans, not Lakers. New Orleans is inexperienced, and Lakers have the best closer in the game.

3) Had picked Kobe as MVP two weeks ago already.

4) Denver is a team that can explode at any given time. When their 3 is falling, they're penetrating and getting to the foul line, they can put up 30-40 in a quarter.

5) Talked about Odom a bit. It's amazing because he would rather be the "supporting actor", not the main star. Says JR Smith / Klieza fills that role occasionally to Melo / AI.

6) Has yet to play against Lakers with Gasol.

7) Trying to turn Melo's arrest into a win / win situation. Says it gives him a chance to talk to Melo on a more personal basis than just a coach.

The interview should be up on his website soon...

You forgot to mention about Coby and the ‘Trash Talk’ (in George’s words) he gave his dad this morning…told his dad how ‘he plays for a coach with 9 rings’ and how ‘he’s gonna win a title before he does’…I was LMFAO on the 101 this morning

LOL...me neither…Dan Patrick was asking George ‘you mean your son was giving you grief?’ and George replies ‘not grief…TRASH talk’….later on Dan asks George if Coby would let Phil in on any secrets and George says ‘Yes’…it was classic

Coby and his dad didn't have a great relationship when they were growing up. The story was told on George Karl's In His Own Words. Coby kinda blamed his dad working too much as a coach and neglected the whole family, and moving the family from place to place. But they got closer when Coby went to college, and then got the cancer.

Lol, what coach comes out and says 'we were hoping to not play that team'? Way to instill confidence in your guys. And I love how he says 'we can get hot easily and score 30 to 40 points in a quarter'. Yeah, you gotta love that offense, forget mentioning that defense wins championships and teaching that to your players, mention that you can score, brilliant. I hope we sweep these clowns.

Dude no one wants us in the first round. Us and SAS are the 2 teams all the others would rather not face first.

I think Phil Jackson started that. LOL. Mindtricks, you know?

Quote:
"He called me at 7:15 [Thursday] morning, his time. I'm going, 'What are you doing up?' He threw some trash at me. I don't think we're going to talk much during the series," George Karl told reporters in Denver.

Won't it be hard not speaking to your son?

"Why would it be hard talking to a guy who's basically trash-talking you with insults?" Karl said jokingly. "He's earned the right to do that a little bit, they've earned the right to do that a little bit. It doesn't mean I have to put up with it."

Coby Karl is on loan to the Lakers' Development League team, but will return to the Lakers after the D-Fenders' playoff run is over.

That's actually the EXACT approach I'd take.

One of the few things, aside from injuries, that has caused LA to faulter here and there down the stretch has been OVERCONFIDENCE.

Playing to that overconfidence and casting your own guys as underdogs is probably the perfect "public" strategy.
