Spurs in 5. They will neutralize West and Peja.

I'm torn:

I want NO to win because it would be an easier road to the Finals for the Lakers.

I want the Spurs to win because they are the champs and I like the idea of knocking out the champs to fully legitimize this Laker team's arrival.

Great series. Spurs in 6, though.

Before you call someone out I think you need to do a little thinking yourself. Peterson is 6'7 and isn't the perimeter clown like you portray him in being. He falls in love with the 3, but he can post up over a small Parker and is more athletic than you give him credit for. He isn't like a 6'4, 6'5 Raja Bell who doesn't have the quickness or length to really disrupt any type of match up.

"IF" the Spurs put Bowen on Paul it won't work. I think you are either overestimating Bowen's quickness or underestimating how fast Paul is. They can do the Bowen switch on a guy like Nash because he doesn't have the blazing speed Paul does.

It's not like Parker is a complete scrub defensively. In this series against Paul, he's going to be their best option.

And Anthony Pig Miller, why don't you try explaining yourself if you're going to try to insult someone. Of course Bowen may cover Paul at some duration during the series, but the gameplan from the start is going to be Parker on Paul.

This isn't 2001 anymore.

So you think Peterson will go off if they put Parker on him? man10

Sorry, Peterson is the least of SA worries. If they are able to neutralize Paul, NO will be in BIG trouble.

Don't get so defensive man12

Hornets match up well against them though. CP3/Tony, Chandler/Duncan, Ginobili/West. Spurs' supporting cast has to come through consistently for them to pull the series out.

Tough call IMO but SA has the experience so I'll give it to them in 6... but I will be cheering for the Hornets.

spurs in 5. they won't be able to guard ginobili. chandler will get owned by duncan. paul and parker is good.

however, i wouldn't be mad if the hornets win, because that means that we'll get to sweep them in the WCF. I absolutely hate the hornets and especially chris paul.

As for the Spurs, not only are they a bit long in the tooth, but they don't have anywhere near the athleticism the Hornets possess.

Can you guys think of one big man on the Spurs roster who has the energy and quickness to run around with Tyson Chandler? Who's going to step outside the paint and cover David West?

I think it's really a nightmare match-up for the Spurs. The Spurs can hang because they are tough and intelligent, but they are really up against the 8ball in this series.

Hornets in 6.

Uhm no.....I'm pretty sure Bowen will guard CP, just like Bowen with Nash...

That being said, I think NO will take it in 6. Everybody keeps thinking that NO will eventually slip, but I am starting to think they enjoy "being the underdogs". I hope SA wins just because I can't stand the NO/CP3 bandwagon going on.

Ok, if you think Bowen will guard Paul who do you think Parker will guard?

Peterson? ...no! Peja?? NO!

They don't have any other option but to play Parker on him.

they'll split duties guarding CP3 but then it'll be parker also guard mo pete who is just a 3 point shooter with limited speed

i think you need to watch more ball before you adamantly discount the possibility of those certain matchups

bowen consistently guards the top perimeter players on opposing teams

mo pete is not a true post up threat, and even if they do post him up the spurs rotation is good enough to double and recover

i'm not denying parker is going to play paul quite a bit but if/when paul starts to get going, the spurs will throw bowen on him

watch the way paul plays, it's not all about speed, he uses his body extremely well and bowen's longer frame will disrupt him much more (clearly you don't understand the way he plays)

the last thing you want paul doing is getting west and peja open shots, and bowen will have a better shot of limiting that then parker

Mo'Pete is pretty much a younger version of Bowen sans the dirty tricks. The dude's scrappy, decent defender, decent outside jumpshot, and will do all the hustle plays as needed by his team. I think he can be the X-factor in this series.

This is probably my favorite series to watch...besides the Lakers. You got CP3 vs. Parker. You got West vs. Duncan.

On paper, the Spurs looks to be better because they have Ginobilli. But CP3 is the X-factor here. If he can lock down on Parker, NO will win this series. CP3 is playing at another level right now, even better than Kobe. He is just disecting the D and making all the right plays. Kobe is still the Hammer though.

I think this is going to be a spectacular series to watch.

Hopefully this series lives up to the hype, since their first round matchups were pretty boring Since the Spurs and Hornets have 2 of the best defenses in the NBA, this should be a hard fought series.

Paul vs. Parker will be the matchup to watch. They've both had pretty big games against each other. Parker did a good job on Nash in round 1, but I don't see him being able to contain CP3.

David West was the only other starter to give the Spurs trouble on offense. Hehad a couple of 30+ point games against them. Bowen was able to contain Peja, Tyson Chandler only averaged 7 points against them, and Mo Pete's not really a scorer. On the other side, Duncan will get his points. Manu has had trouble producing against Mo Pete, and Michael Finley scored a total of 10 points in 4 games against the Hornets. If they can limit Manu's scoring, the Hornets should have a very good chance at taking the series, since the Spurs' offense relies heavily on him.

I'm gonna say Hornets in 7. I think they'll be able to contain Manu, and CP3 will be able to carry them to the WCF.

disagree at those who want NO to win

Spurs maybe harder, but if you think about it that wouldn't be true if they lose

anyway Spurs are a worthier opponent and I want the Spurs-Lakers story to continue(whatever the outcome)
NO is a dirty team imo and I will hate watching that series until I know we will win for sure, as for the Spurs their the only team I can stomach a lost to , thats why I want to play them .

It would be good for the Hornets' franchise and the city if they won the series.

The league would continue with its great stories of the season. Lakers and Hornets, two teams that no one expected before the season started.

Whoever wins I hope it goes to 7.

Im picking the Spurs in 6 though. I think experience will prevail. Honestly I dont really care who wins the series, but I absolutely can't stand the NO team. I especially don't like West, but he is just at the top of a good length list though.

That is exactly how I feel about LA - if SPurs have to get knocked out I would rather it be by LA. I was dreading the thought that we might lose to the Suns until they pulled a dallas-sized choke job. I think I hate their fans way more than those in Dallas now.

Don't underestimate David West. The guy is a beast. Although I think Parker will do a much better job on CP3 because he has the speed/quickness to keep up with CP3, and they are about the same height so it's easy to change direction. Spurs might try Bowen and Gino on CP3, and try to force the ball out of his hand. That's my thinking.
