Who do you guys think is more valuable, Butler or Gasol. If you say Butler would you have made that trade to get Kwame Brown from the Wizards? If it wasn't for Brown we wouldn't have Gasol. Maybe Brown is the real MVP of the league. Think about it for a moment. Caron Butler's jumpshot and penetrating ability, or Pau Gasol's scoring, rebounding, blocking, and running ability. You know, not many big men can run (Shaq), but Gasol can. But you also gotta give some credit to Mr. Butler because he is an all-star who can score and distribute the ball.
In my opinion, Gasol is better because the Butler-Kobe thing could turn out like the Iverson-Anthony thing. In any case Gasol is a big presence that the Lakers need to survive with Bynum injured. When Bynum comes back,Pau will be moved back to the PF. What if he liked the center position better? Maybe Bynum and Pau will not work well together.
There it is. I've given you pros and cons on both Butler and Pau. What do you think???  |

also for the TRI its DEFINITELY Gasol...he is a better fit all the way

The good thing about Pau, is that the situation of him not liking PF position will never happen.
He is an intelligent guy, and a humble guy, he will like what the coach likes, or what is better for the team. He is a team player.
We cant think Bynum-Gasol will not work, why wouldn't it? They are smart players, and Phil is the best coach, he will now what to do. |

In Memphis Gasol always asked to play PF and wanted Memphis to get a C next to him...
he and Bynum will be fine...

I doubt it. But we will see.
Gasol knows better than that, I would be more worried about Bynum slowing down, and not Gasol. |

Even when he was putting up 20/10 like numbers, almost no plays were ever called for Drew. That and Pau isn't a hyper aggressive, volume shooter anyways. |

| The only PF who I think who is a better traingle fit than Gasol would have been Kevin Garnett, who we tried relentlessly to acquire from Minnesota. With that said, Gasol is 27 to Garnett's 31. I also think Gasol has a little bit higher Bball IQ than Garnett. Not taking anything away from KG, but getting Gasol, and keeping Odom and Bynum and Farmar was like hitting the lottery on Christmas |

But the problem is that Garnett has a very BIG EGO. And I dont think Bryant would have liked that... |

Pau is much more valuable than Caron. A big man is much more valubale especially Pau who can pass, which is great for the traingle. With Pau our front line is much better and taller to control the paint. |

Isnt it good to have a problem of having 2 very good young big men. Worst case scenario and they dont play well together we just dont have them on the floor together. Until Bynum is just dominating and free and clear from the injury his minutes will be monitored. So this wont be an issue for awhile. Both can play the center, when Bynum comes in we can move Pau to the 4 and then get him some rest with Bynum in at 5 then Pau goes out for a rest and bring in Ronny. Bring Pau in when Bynum gets winded. The only person it rally cuts into time wise is maybe Ronny & LO (if he still plays more of the 4 next year)

I dont disagree with the above statement, big is generally > small. But, our big men have to do what big men are suppose to do first and foremost. Gasol is getting manhandled down low. I would never trade Gasol to get Caron but this particular post is not about that.
I would trade big for small if our big cant do what bigs are suppose to do. For example, Horace Grant (with the bulls). Horace Grant was not as skilled as Gasol but he would be 2 times more effective in this Utah series because he does what a PF is suppose to do, first and foremost.
I wouldnt go Gasol for Caron Butler but I would go Gasol for Beasley (assuming Bynum comes back healthy) or Al Horford or Al jefferson because while Beasley hasnt played a game in the NBA, I believe all those guys do what they are suppose to do first. The skills that come after what they are suppose to do first, Gasol is better than both of them. I will say this, I think the Lakers win game 3 in Utah had they had the Bulls version of Horace Grant or an Al Horford or Al Jefferson. |

Caron Butler plays basically the same game as Kobe Bryant. It'll be kinda a waste of talent, because both of them would do the same things.
Pau Gasol is a big man, much more valuable in the NBA, and he's a great passer, which is better.
Pau Gasol is more valuable than Caron Butler. |
