Listen I'm sure everyone is very happy about the success of the club right now, but looking to the future i'm not sure bynum and gasol can gel together ( both have the center "game"). So with that said would you guys be open to trading Bynum for the 1st pick overall and drafting beasley who I think would fit in perfectly with gasols post game. just Imagen how good we would be with gasol 7' 260
beasley 6'10 240
odom 6'10 235
bryant 6'6 220
fish/farmar
that is a very talented, big & long group.

well just figured i'd ask! I know bynum is the real deal but I'm just not sure they (bynum & gasol) can play together . If they can then I would not move anyone except maybe odom for a solid 3 man.

pretty sure they will "see" if it will work before making an offseason trade of their franchise big.

That and Gasol really is a PF with C size. He plays C for us so that we don't have to start the likes of Mihm, Mbenga, Turiaf at C. If Bynum were healthy he would be our starting C because that is what he is. Gasol is a PF and would prefer to take a lot of guys off the dribble or take a 12 foot jumper (ala Horace Grant). Bynum getting traded would be like ORL trading Dwight Howard 2 years ago.

P.S. Bynum is/will be better than Beasley.

Do you really think LeBron is worth that much?

you pass on...

JO...(injury plagued season, sorry)
Kidd...(a bust for dallas, but still an all-star)
KG!...(see: Boston)
Gasol....(we got him anyway... mhihi )

and you wanna go for a rook who hasn't proven anything in the NBA yet?

come on, bynum had one bad luck incident landing on odom's foot and tweaked his knee.

gasol is a true PF and bynum is a true C. what more can you want?

If im not mistaken, i remember reading an article saying that Gasol was a coveted piece b/c he's really offensively efficient from the left side of the court, and bynum is particularly strong from the right side of the court. Or vice versa. Dont remember the sides. Anyhow, they will click. You have one big dominating one side and the other big dominating the other. Lamar slashing down the middle. Kobe driving in and ooping it to the big to his liking. =)

good info matty and jjin28 but how about on the defensive end how do you think gasol would do against the power forwards of the league, a good preview is how he does this series agains the likes of boozer who is utah's PF.

Why don't we actually let them play together first before we think about trading anyone. Also, you're worried about the "center" game, Pau is a versatile 4 with center height. He has come in and made a seemless transition to the triangle offense due to his skill set and most importantly his B-ball IQ. I'm not worried about Pau and Bynum at all cuz Pau has a terrfic face-up game with superior passing skills from the elbow.

in this matchup, if we had both bynum and gasol, bynum would be on boozer because he is inside the whole time. why would you want your defensive anchor following a shooting big man who roams around the outside? gasol would be out on okur and it would make for a much better matchup.

being a PF doesn't mean you have to guard a PF. or for any positions at that. look at what kobe (SG) did to kenyon martin (PF).

I'm not worried about Gasol's defense (or lack thereof) when we have Bynum as a secondary shotblocker. I'm more worried about it right now when we don't have that shotblocker. I think SA will be more of a test than Boozer (undersized PF)

P.S. Ryder and lakerfan you guys are right on. We need to see how this works out first and Pau isn't truly a Center.

It never fails. Some of you guys wont rest until the Lakers make a ridiculously stupid trade and Bynum is dominating the middle for another franchise the next 10-15 years. Unbelievable.

I don't know how people still even consider trading Bynum.

He has shown that he is progressing rapidly and can be a guy that the Lakers are building around in the future.

He is the face of the franchise, after Kobe.

He has proven himself and was getting to be on an all-star level before getting injured.

Beasley is a Power Forward that used his size to dominate in college. That won't happen in the NBA. I don't think he will be a star. He will be a very good piece of a good team someday, but no where near a star.

BESIDES, BEASLEY IS UNPROVEN, HASN'T PLAYED A MINUTE IN THE NBA.

BYNUM has proved himself worthy and can be ready NOW. Beasley would still be a rookie trying to figure things out.

Besides, who would take Beasley over AB? NOBODY.

The future is set with this team with Farmar and AB. They are the centerpieces for us.

The future will hopefully be

Jordan, Sasha, Trevor, Ronnie, and AB.

that is still one very good team.

Gasol is a PF. Not a center. He's playing center because Mihm isn't able to, Mbenga is a scrub, and Ronny is a 6'9 PF.

Drew and Gasol will get along just fine.

We don't need Beasley. The "youth movment" stage is over. We are in "win now" mode which means there is no room for rookies to come in and learn. Sasha, Bynum, Turiaf, and Farmar are ready to help us win now, and that's what we're going with for the next several seasons.

Beasley is unproven and no way on Earth we are trading a budding All-star. We haven't even seen a lick of play with Bynum and Gasol in the lineup. Its very premature to even think that he won't be able to fit in well. With all the tutoring from the great KAJ, I'm sure KAJ at least wants to see Bynum throwing up the skyhook before trading him.

And they woulden't be that way with Bynum; and guy who has proven to be one of the best up and coming centers in the NBA?

We didn't trade Bynum for JASON KIDD...and now we're going to trade him for an unproven rookie? Gimme a break.

I think Pau & Drew's ability to be effective on the court together is a legitimate concern, but now certainly isn't the time to move anyone.

As someone said above, management will take a look at the way the guys play together before resorting to a trade.

Well, nice try...but you've only got 1 of the 2 right. FARMAR IS NOT A CENTERPIECE FOR US.

Where and why and how did you come to that conclusion??? man10

Gasol does not have a center game. He can play C, but is really a 4. Sure, he's talented and a great triangle fit, but he would rather play PF for this team.
